There's one thing I don't understand. When I want to pay and tip by card I first pay the check and then I get the receipt, where I write the tip. So far so good....but...what happens next ? How do they get the tip and can I leave or do I have to wait ? Do they habe to take your card again, or can they book from the Card, without having it ? Thank you for an answer!
When the server comes to pick up that signed receipt that says the tip amount, they go back to the cash register/computer and enter the amount of tip. They don't need your card again and you don't have to do anything (they can do it after you leave). If you look at your bank, you'll likely see the original amount as "pending" and then in a couple days, it will clear, and you'll see that it will be a charge for the full amount (total+tip).
@@SmartFamilyMoney Does this work if you have a PIN on your card? I don't understand how they have access to charge the tip when I only entered my PIN when paying the original amount.
@@SmartFamilyMoney why don't they increase the prices to pay employees?tipping is so uncomfortable for people its like tax . Why don't they pay them from selling food or anything else ? 🤔
Thank you, this is the kind of stuff we are expected to know right out of school even though no one taught us.
Glad I could help!

Thank you so much. I really didn’t know how to tip.
Helpful information 😊
Thanks, glad you liked it!
As a matter of fact, any charged tips will be required to report to the IRS & it’s taxable.
The tip it’s calculated on the amount before taxes?
I don't think it matters. You can calculate it before or after tax because it won't make much difference.
By the way, the final tip after taxes only applies to charged tips rather than cash tips.
thank u!!!
