Lyle ...
"Never see you paint again"
I seem to remember someone saying "we would never see them at an auction ever again" !
lol
Ah, but auctions are great fun, they are like "lucky dips" we had as kids. … You never know what you will get, until you return home and look at it properly.
Mr Pete is a national treasure. Thank you for your videos.
Thank you very much
The painting segment was kind of relaxing to watch but I'll never watch it again as instructed!
Thats a great project, thanks so much for teaching me manny things over the years, you are a very good teacher. May God Bless you & Yours Mr.Pete !
Thanks
Tony Pike I echo your well said sttement😍
I had to watch it again just to see you paint just one more time. LoL
I never thought of using ball bearings for the ball ends, thank you teacher, I will keep this idea in my toolbox
👍
I don't know how anyone can give you a negative feedback. You sir are a competent and genuine machinest! There must be a couple of jealous people out there.
Not jealous, just mean-spirited
As for saying "You will never see me painting again!", my Mom often said: "Never say never". Nice paint job!!!
I always enjoy Keith Appleton’s Unpainting. Thank you for the great videos.
Now John can use his DEER wise again. 😂
It looks great - and the paintjob is outstanding. 👍👍
Thanks
I also didn't know you could soften ball bearings. Thanks for a great series Mr. Pete!
Very nice looking vice now that it is done. I especially like the ball bearings on the end of the handle. "A man of many vises!"
You turned a sows ear into a silk purse looks great 👍
Mr Pete, I never knew that Ball Bearings could be softened and drilled, great video.
Really enjoy the rebuild/restore/videos, especially old vises - Ill speak for many and say we love your videos. Hope to see many more like 'em, thanks Mr. Pete-!
Thank you very much
Well mister Pete Rembrandt Tubalcain ,you did a good job sir !!!!
lol
That was a very detailed and impressive build. Every machine or engineering student should watch this. Thank you Mr Pete.
Thanks
THANK YOU...for sharing. Watched and very much enjoyed.
I like those ball bearing ends to the handle, they just look right! Very interesting that there was no identifying marks on the vise castings, they looked very unique with the deep recesses. Great series on restoring the vise, I like the Deere green paint as well.
Thanks for watching!
Classy looking vise. Well done. I was taught to never say never. I think I remember someone never going to auctions again!! Looking forward to the next project! ;)
lol
Nice job Lyle looking forward to your next vise
Nice series, Mr Pete. Thank you.
You nailed it!!! As usual, thanks for sharing. Greetings from Spain
Thanks Mr Pete, I always enjoy your videos. The original RUclips shop teacher.
Thanks
I enjoyed the series very much, thanks for sharing.
Thanks
I very much enjoyed the video! Thanks Mr. Pete. Yes Im sure that vise will get another 50 years of use. I feel there are too many people collecting and restoring tools just so they can sit on a shelf. I think it’s great to use them as intended. 🏆
Yes, they are made to be used
You have done a really good job on the vise. Thanks for the video.
Thanks
Caught again in a faulty promise (painting?). Hey, I think that was a very practical modification of a goofed up vise. Bubba is still in business so there will always be need for modification AND repainting. Great set of videos, thanks. Greg
Thanks
Great, as usual. Anytime something can be brought back to a useful item is a good thing. Just recently had a situation to save a Clausing 8540 mill from go to the scrap yard. Missing it's drawbar, but has a 1inch arbor, with a rusty facing cutter, and the arbor support. We'll see if I can bring it back to life. Also, the "Z" collet holder you got with your mill, I cannot find any information on getting one. I have a Tree Milling Machine, so I already have a selection of "Z" collets. Thanks again for all of the videos they have helped me to have more appreciation for the manual machining skills.
Great to hear that you are going to save that machine. Those universal collet holders Are pretty rare
Thanks for another great series, always enjoy! Now I know why my attempt to anneal a ball bearing a while back didn't work. Many broken drill bits! Thanks for that instruction.
VERY informative. Thanks to our "Mr Pete"!
Nice job Lyle.. and you picked the BEST color in the world JD green !!! thanks !
I learn every time I watch your videos and also gives me new ideas ! Awesome!
I am glad you like it
Nice video Mr. Pete. I found the segment on annealing and drilling ball bearings particularly instructive, thank you.
👍
Spectacular restoration of the vise enjoyed all 3 videos! Thanks MrPete.
Always very interesting thanks for sharing Mr Pete 👍🇦🇺
Second channel idea:
Lyle Rembrandt's 'Paint' ...and watch it dry.
I foresee multipart series on color matching, prepping, warm surface priming, etc.
Can hardly wait for the livestream "I've painted Spite's lawnmower. Let's watch it dry! "
lol
Great three part series!
Super job on vice restoration, lately I'm finding that I enjoy restoring old machinist tools . I think it's rewarding bringing an old tool or machine back to life that no one wants ,
👍👍
Excellent, thanks for sharing😀👍
What a wonderful new vise. Event the paint came out great, I love JD Green.
It matches your tractor
@@mrpete222 Yep, that's why it is a great color.
Nice paint segment, thank you.
Thanks for this series Mr. Pete. I enjoyed it!
And here we paint a happy little drillpress vice.
Thank you. Beautiful job.
Keep inspiring borderline Bubba's to do better.
lol
Great job as usual, on this vise. Good call on the hard spots Mr Pete...In fact, that area may have had direct arc strikes/weld deposits that instantly have a hardening quench affect on cast iron, molten steel weld spatter does this also, as you said.
Thank you for that analysis, as to why those spots were so hard
@@mrpete222 Thank you to call it out, and save many a ruined end mill by viewers!
Very nice restoration, keep up the teaching videos.
Yes
Thank you Mr Pete
The vise came out looking great and that new coat of paint looks good. Well done Mr. Pete.
Came out awesome Mr. Pete, thanks for the series!
Thanks
What a night and day difference! I enjoyed very much. Thanks, Mr. Pete! :-)
I really enjoyed this project. Thanks so much for sharing.
I'm happy you appear in your videos now. It nice to have a face with the voice I had been hearing for so long.
Thanks
You do nice work ! I just wished you would do a little more . LOL Good video series.
Hi Mike, hope you are feeling well. Say hi to your better half
That turned out real nice Mr. Pete. I like the green!
Thanks
Very nice looking vice now. Its looking better than new
A great looking vise, from a man with a vice for vises. Stay well old friend.
lol
Grate project. Thanks for sharing.
Great series Mr Pete, thank you.
You were right about those 'Pica' pens, I bought one after watching an earlier video where you talked about them. I use mine for just about everything now, thank's for the tip. (pardon the pun)
I know, I find that it is the one that I reach for all the time
Thank you
A sow's ear to silk purse transformation. Good job Mr Pete, many thanks!
Thanks
You like painting almost as much as I do. I never liked John Deere green. But now I have a John Deere tractor. It's a nice tractor so the color is growing on me. Good job on the vice. I still like the idea that a Bubbette built that vice during WWll as a training project.
Yes, I hope he didn’t build B-17 bomber’s, LOL
@@mrpete222 Sherman tanks and halftracks. Maybe a jeep or two.
I really enjoy these projects. Thanks, Mr. Pete!
Dang it Mr. Pete your going to make me late again for work!
I learn something every time I watch one your great video's.
Thanks
Real nice vice rebuild Lyle...50 years? It will last forever is one doesn't drill into it, eh? Great video, thumbs up.
Yes
Nice work, many thanks for the tips.
looks fantastic Mr Pete
Enjoyed the vise rebuild. Nothing wrong with John Deere green.
Good job. I like the conversion and especially the JD green
Thanks. Actually, I am not crazy about John Deere green. I just use it because I have a whole quart of it
Nice work Mr. Pete
I appreciate all the quality information sir thank you
Thanks
Lyle, The vise was probably Used to hold something while they welded it up and would likely be the reason why the hard spots on the bottom - Because of Poor Ground... Just my Thought's... Thanks Again.
That is a very likely scenario
Mr Pete.. i love watching your videos, been following you for 2 years now.. i just bought a large german vice, a Leinen E 120 to restore. And now have a solide 100x100mm 500mm long iron bar to make my own from scratch.
Thank you for your great videos!
Awesome
Most Excellent - thanks.
Turned out VERY well I'd say.
Thanks for the good video Mr.Pete, what a good way to start up day,I will be sure to watch it later, gotta get to work now,one of your students from Trinidad,in the Caribbean.God bless ya man.

Great job. You made a very handsome vise. The before and after is amazing.
Thanks
That was very inspiring project..
You'll be puttin MGM outa business with all those videos...it makes me weary just thinking about the time and sleepless nights to do it lol
You are right, about how much time it takes. Luckily I have insomnia, LOL
It turned out lovely.
Thanks
Very nice!
A very neat job.
Making vises great again.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸MVGA. This would make a good tee shirt slogan.👌 great project MrPete222.
Yes it would
Very nice work, Rembrandt!
Very nice job. Wasn't too keen on the color at first but looks good on the finished vise.
So I have a custom antique pulling tractor that needs a paint job. I was wondering.....🥴
I will go to school forever with you as teacher.
Thanks
I like your still pictures at the end, too. Did you ever think as a starting teacher that you could reach students across the globe with just a few clicks of a mouse? Very nice video....need more painting scenes in the future 🎨🖌️🥰
No I never dreamed of such a thing
Nice job!
Hey. We checked and Bubba was not from Pennsylvania thank you very much:-0)
Thank You Mr Pete!
Jim
