If I was to give any advice for someone ordering a new Scamp, SKIP the "Factory Curtains" option. It add's WAYYY to many extra holes to the exterior fiberglass (4 extra holes PER WINDOW). They don't work all that well to begin with, kind of cheap, and very easy to attach alternate options. Also, skip the rear hitch (not well designed) and front mounted hose carrier, same thing, adds extra holes, yellows very quickly, and and basically useless for storage. Another biggie folks overlook, seriously consider deleting bathroom sink from front bath floor plans, really makes the space much more usable. Must have options-Get all the overhead cabinets you can order, screen door, both ac AND fantastic fans, plugs everywhere you think you will need them, including one outside. "Big Bed' option for couples (54" vs 44" bed, just lose a bit of counter space). Great channel, Cheers from Ottertail, MN....
@@CoachEzFit Scamps in particular, adding any significant weight to the rear/bumper creates Rear Sway, especially on the 13' and 16' models. If you do add a bike rack, try and put a bit of extra weight in the front of the camper.
Awesome video. Very detailed and straight to the point. Wow you covered all my questions and doubts. You helped me make a decision. I'm definitely getting a Scamp. You have a beautiful family. God bless and thanks!
Thanks for all your good info. I too am looking for a used Scamp. I have a V6 3500# tow vehicle. After listening to U, I will start looking bigger than the 13 footer. Thank U for your info. And God bless U and your family too.
Thanks for putting all this information together for us. It is always nice to go to one place and get all the details without bouncing all around the internet. We are a teardrop camper family, but we secretly envy Scamp life. we just subscribed to your channel in hopes that you keep putting out your good Scamp content!
Thank you for the comment and subscription. We looked at many teardrops in our year or so serious looking period. That is the reason we started this channel to try and help those interested in smaller non popup style campers. There was not much info online when we were looking and what was there seemed bias so, we wanted to fill in some gaps. It is nice to hear we are doing just that. What teardrop do you have and how many in your family?
Think Your video was really good. You have come a long way from Your first video. Cool. I also do video's on my Scamp. "My Scamp Travel Trailer Adventures". I don't think some people understand what time and effort We put in our videos. Don't know if You have had any haters Yet. I just had one super bad one I just delete their comments. But Your video was clear very complete.....nicely done. Keep on tapering. Be safe in Your travels and enjoy!!!
I've done a lot of searching and research on RVing. I can't upgrade my compact SUV and I can't afford a motorized RV that can tow my SUV either, this seems like the perfect solution to my impulsive getaway needs!
I like the concept; room temp? continously - as in 24 hr/10 day? Thermostat control or you manually turning on/off? Fridge running continuously---24 hr/10 day or cycling? ??? if it was cold outside, why not just put the items outside?
Couldn't agree more with a lot of what you said. Honestly, I feel like the quality is just as good with these than Airstream. I owned an Airstream (16RB and 22FB)... it is a joke for the costs. Arn't crank out windows more expensive and difficult to replace if they get damaged?
I think they may be a bit more expensive, but I'm not sure if they are more difficult to install....at least on the newer scamps. but I could be wrong. Thanks for the comment
This was a very well done & informative video. Thanks for uploading.
Thank you for all the great information!

How did you install your curtains? Thanks!!
What's wrong with the rear hitch? No good for a bike rack?

Great suggestions. I haven't decided yet if i'm getting a camper but if I do it will be a Scamp. Thanks for the suggestions.

We have a home built 4X8 teardrop. We currently have 3 in the family and if that size increases we will probably be forced out of the 4X8 teardrop.
Love your site! I would love to see a youtube of one person hitching it up to the tow vehicle, hard difficult is it to manipulate> Thank you!
Good words friends ! 😊
I had no idea what an LP tank was. Thanks for asking kid!

How much can your compact SUV tow?
2 LP tanks ran our dry-camped fridge and a little furnace time too, for about ten days. And it was a very cold fridge!
Thats great to know as we have not tried the fridge yet on LP.

Great Video! Question-- We've never towed a trailer before! What is the learning curve on owing one of these?
We have a 19 foot scamp and love it
Glad to hear that Gary. We think they are the best too! Someday maybe we'll step up to the 19'.
If you've been to the factory in Minnesota, you should take your Scamp back to the factory and get the upgrades you want.
That's the plan this fall.
Great video. Ty!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks.
Thanks 🛶🚣 & Soul Searching & wanting a 🐕 fas new best friend here 🐕
Would love to know your opinion on the scamp verses the casita. great video.
Thank you we'll add it to our list of questions to answer in up coming videos.
Mine is from 1974 and is worth 6-8K . They are hard to find. You see them in backyards all the time though. Time to knock on peoples door.

Why did they ever move away from crank out windows?
why the scamp over the casita
The main reason for us is the ease of finding one in MN and I didn't like the layouts and head room in the Casitas. Thanks
How long is the main bed?
I guessing around 6ft. I'm 5'10" and I have foot and head room. Hope this helps.
