I feel bad for anyone who doesn’t watch Mx5 but loves REAL racing. Mx5 is by far one of my favorite series to watch and the barrier to entry is next to nothing
Thank you NBC and IMSA for making this! It's an awesome throwback to the days of SPEED Channel, NBCSN, TNN, Versus, and ESPN Speedworld when motorsports coverage went beyond the live broadcasts. I hope every other series and racing broadcaster makes similar extended coverage to this IMSA preview! I hope the door is open for some sort of end of or even mid season review show similar to this; maybe even a Speed Center or RPM 2 Night like all motorsports news show. Making this season preview was an excellent choice! Thanks so much again for this.
I absolutely love imsa so much, I am so excited for Daytona, I’ll be there for it and it will be my first time, can’t wait to see the cars battle it out through out the season, so ready
i would pay good money to be able to stream the races without commercials in the us. id rather watch imsa but as it stands i have to settle for wec since they’re commercial free on max.
Excited to get the season under way. But I would have liked a more detailed look into the cars themselves, in particular when they were showing the street and race versions of the GT3 cars. What an opportunity to showcase for the manufacturers and build interest in the series. The variety of engines, displacement, BoP but to show shiny cars without understanding what make multi-class and multi-manufactures interesting was a missed opportunity IMO.
Just as WEC lets the winner of the IMSA season to race in 24hrs of Le Man. IMSA needs to do the same for the winner of the WEC season to race in 24hrs of Daytona. I want to see Toyota, Ferrari, Alpine, and Peugeot in the GTP category. Toyota vs. Acura is a battle I want to see.
@Romit12 The head of Toyota Gazoo Racing said they're just focusing on Le Man and not Daytona even though 2 of their drivers in WEC wants the GR010 to race at Daytona. Also, they said the scheduling would be a problem for the IMSA races. There was talk if Toyota joined IMSA, it would only be the Michelin Endurance rounds.
@@rap4thahood so.... they can infact join they just choose not to. I was gonna tell you how you're wrong but you already did it yourself so thanks I guess lmao.
@kartaltoth684 if you read my first half of my comment, I said the winner of the WEC season should be competing at Daytona. Then, I explained why Toyota chose not to enter IMSA to another person. But I guess you decided to assume that I was putting the two together without actually reading and analyzing. Which is why I'm going to ask you, where did I put the different things together?
Took me forever but I found it: Grand-Am Rolex Sports Cars 2008 Brumos Porsche 250. If you find the full race replay the crash is around the 1 hour 45 min mark.
for literally every car with the exception of the RC F LMGT3 just means torque sensors. The RC F was the closest ACO got to their childish dream of "it's GT3 but different because we gotta be different" and even that only happened because the RC F aero wise is a relic to the GT3s of today.
I'm a total motorsport enthusiast, but this video shows quite nicely how media training has stolen the personality of drivers and has given them nothing to say that hasn't been heard a billion times in a lovely pleasant platitude kind of a way. The cars, the driving, the tracks, the battles on those tracks are what count. Drivers flapping chins isn't interesting anymore. Just sayin' and that, know?
Austin Martin car 007 for the Rolex 24 must be stripped of the usual refinements. Ejection seat is key need. However rocket launcher or machine gun's are out of bounds
Well there are different classes, circuits, teams, cars, drivers, rules & point systems. I'm not sure if I would call them the same thing at that point.
If by the same you mean both are multiclass sportscar racing then sure, but IMSA is an independent sanctioning body, WEC is under the FIA. IMSA has sprint races as well as Endurance. WEC is only endurance. IMSA still has the LMP2 class
The sound isn't going to be a selling point much longer since everything is going to stupid electric. Might as well have the drivers of each car where the spotters are with remotes so they can race their electric RC cars. I'll never watch another race with electric only cars! Absolutely zero soul!
Agreed. Keep the motor in motorsports. I think there always will be even it takes enthusiasts just creating their own series despite what the big boys do.
@@nickporter574 unfortunately I feel that making a separate sanctioning body for gas cars will be necessary in order to keep them around. Sad to say but it seems like the outcome we are headed to until the gas brings more fans to the stands.... I mean more money unfortunately. Thats all that seems to matter rather than history or tradition!
Shout out to IMSA MX-5. Legitimately one of the best support series in the world. Don't miss it this year.

Phenomenal job in resurrecting the IMSA GTP series. Went to The Glen last year and going back again. Love the format.
Outstanding production of this preview into the 2025 season! Let's go IMSA racing!

Sam Posey forever. What a legend.

GT Daytona (incl. Pro) class should use an ACO/FIA LMGT3 Package kit for the better Parity of Endurance
Well GTD and LMGT3 both use GT3 cars, you can't have much more parity than that.

IMSA races are usually weak and only have under 10 hypercars. Daytona 24 is always cool though
