Thanks mate, I’m glad I am not the only one as I did feel a little foolish. Oh well, I’ve learned more from my mistakes than I have from the things I’ve done correctly! At my mistake rate, I should be genius level😂👍😎. I appreciate you taking the time to comment👍😎.
Thanks Keith, as you know I’m enjoying the build, I just wish I would not make so many mistakes along the way. I’d likely be done already😂. I appreciate you following along mate😎👍
Mate I would have made the same mistake with the spring orientation, good to know. Agree ARB should supply the mounting hard ware especially after waiting 4 months and had you known you would have already sourced new stuff. Really enjoy your vids I hope you keep them coming.
Thank you Adam, I really appreciate your kind words and for taking the time to share them. I put a set of springs in a young lads 60 series a few weeks later (video to come) and I can assure you I did not make that mistake again, LOL. Live and learn! Have a great weekend Adam!
The best investment that you can do for your Cruiser(apart disc brakes) I got mine on this past January on my BJ40, nice videos Terry greetings from Costa Rica.
Thank you sir that is very kind of you to comment and spend some time on the channel. I would love to visit your part of the world once things get back to normal. Cheers!
Hmmm that stationary moment in time where you just stop stare and think “you idiot” 😂 We’ve all done it. Great vid Terry. Dam that’s a great vice too. Need me one of them 👍
I hear ya Frank and my wife kicks my butt every time. I now have dedicated shed shirts which I can do with as I please😉👍. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
Thanks Brent, I appreciate you sharing and taking the time to comment. I’m back in the shed working on the LSA mounts, videos to come over the next few weeks. Cheers😎👍
Thanks Eric, despite a few setbacks so far (and more ahead no doubt), I’m happy with how it’s coming together. Thanks for following along mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
I was on the edge too mate. I was in the position where I could wait. It would be amazing to see how many sales ARB have lost because of long lead times, I reckon bucket loads. Thanks for watching Mark, I really do appreciate it 😎👍
Great video, I’ve just installed ARB suspension into my BJ42 and the front shocks are touching the strut tower, after watching your video I realise that I’ve installed the front springs backwards, can’t wait to correct them tomorrow and see if it solves the issue. I purchased new cup washers from Toyota, the codes are 90948-03003 inner and 90948-03004 outer.
That’s awesome Scott. Not the fact that you put them in backwards, but the fact that I might be able to help out in some small way. Thanks for the part numbers on the washers. I got replacements already but it’s great information to share here for someone else who is looking. Thanks again mate, really appreciate you reaching out😎👍
That suspension mistake would have been so easy to do, i would have done the same lol that’s also pretty poor you don’t get new hardware , this is looking so good Terry, great video mate
Thank you Mick, I’m glad I’m not alone. I felt like a bit of a fool when I did it. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
Thanks mate, appreciate you following along. Maybe that’s why the don’t supply them, because there are different expectations from different customers 🤔. Regardless, I agree they could have offered. All good now, I have sourced them elsewhere and the jobs all done. Cheers😎👍
Great video mate, now I know where I wont get my new suspension from. Actually I find it quite emberassing for a Company with such a name like ARB to not add the Hardware needed, specially with the hefty pricetag of 2 thousand Dollars. I am already excited to get my Frame as neat looking as yours. I hope you show all the details when you work on the Tubs, I will need to do alot of bodywork on my BJ42 so all details I can see from other guys help me out alot. But you will see the disaster with the Body on my Channel in a few Months time. So long, keep putting out the videos, I love the Content.
Thanks for your kind words mate, I really do appreciate it. You can bet sure that I will film the detail around the tub body work. I have already started as you will see in some upcoming videos. I look forward to you sharing your challenges, as you note everyone can learn from everyone else. Thanks again for watching and following along!
Looking really good now Terry. I was just thinking that it wood be an ideal time now to do a bit of over engineering. Considering the size of the motor that you will be installing, have you considered welding into the frame some additional bracing. After all the frame is a little compromised with some rust pitting, and the torque that engine will be pushing through it could result in sloppy handling or even a complete failure. It would be cheap insurance while you still have clear access to the frame. Anyway, I’m enjoying the build and really look forward to the next edition. Cheers. 👍
Thanks David, I appreciate you watching and following along. The points you made re additional bracing are all valid. I decided not to for two reasons. Firstly, I’m lazy if the truth be known. Secondly, this is a work ute and primarily used on bitumen and dirt roads. I believe the chassis flex and potential compromise would be a issue if I can get the rear wheels to hook up. To be honest, I doubt I will be able to get enough traction to the ground to compromise the frame. Big power, lowish gearing, slush box transmission, and not a lot of weight on the rear axles are all working in my favour. So that’s my logic. It remains to be seen once finished if I’m under the car with a welder reinforcing the frame and giving myself an upper cut at the same time😂👍😎
Hey mate loving the build. If you find anywhere to get the front upper mounting bolts let me know. I have been hunting for awhile and might actually have to get some machined or imported from SOR in America. Cheers
I'll keep a look out mate. Mine were actually in really good condition surprisingly. I'm back in the shed this weekend dropping (figuratively not literally I hope) the LSA between the frame rails. Video to come. Thanks again for watching.
Hey you talked about the plus sign on the spring having a slightly higher bias there for should be on the drivers side, but I noticed that you have them both on the front axle.
No I did not say the plus sign indicates a higher bias. Watch the video around the 6 minute mark. The plus sign denotes the fixed end of the spring, as opposed to the shackle end.👍😎
Thanks for the kind words mate, I sincerely appreciate it. The lift worked out to about 60mm on the back and 55mm on the front. It will come down a bit more as I get a tray fitted etc, but that is a good guide. Yes, ARB do short change you on a few parts as per my video. Cheers
You had me guessing mate, so I went and checked the package. It says suitable for chassis and bushes so I’m going to take them on their word. Good eye, thanks for sharing😎👍
Sorry Vinnie I do not. What I do know is that there are two part numbers, one for smaller diameter shackles and one for larger. The early ones are small, the later ones are large. I'm not sure what year they crossed over but it would pay to do some research on this so you don't get the wrong ones. My 74 model were the small diameter shackles. I would download the ARB catalogue from there site, I'm sure the suspension part numbers would be in there as that is where I started my hunt. Cheers
Your not meant to grease the OD of suspension bushes only the ID to help prevent them spinning around in the spring eye or chassis mounts the pins what's meant to be moving...
I keep learning every time I watch your channel
Thank you mate, I keep learning everytime I touch this project, LOL. I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts, that means a lot. Cheers!
I made the same mistake recently... and hence found myself watching this! Nice video mate.

Can't wait for the next episode Terry. So good to watch this whole project come together.
Thanks Keith, as you know I’m enjoying the build, I just wish I would not make so many mistakes along the way. I’d likely be done already😂. I appreciate you following along mate😎👍
Really good and informative video. Can’t wait to do the same on my FJ40.
Good stuff Kerry, enjoy your 40 series journey mate👍😎

@@JafffaAdventures looking forward to seeing it in and the first fire up of the beast
You and me both Greg, cheers mate 😎👍
Beautiful. i cant wait to install OME on my 84 FJ60
Good stuff Edwin. If you search my library there is actually an OME install on a 60 series. You may find that helpful as well. Cheers😎👍
@@JafffaAdventures awesome thanks. I subscribed and yes I saw that one. Nice rig.
Cool, I trust you will enjoy your stay. Cheers

Fantastic how to video! You're a clever cookie!

Really good content.. well made
Thank you mate, I certainly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Lots more 45 Series goodies coming up in future episodes 😎👍
Nice work Terry. Love to see your videos. You made me hunting for a old rusty HJ45 its now seating in my yard.
Nice one mate, you will have a blast working on the old girl. Thanks for your kind words and enjoy the journey 😎👍
Cant wait for the LS install
Was put in the shed today stuck into it. Not done yet but it’s between the frame rails😎👍
nice work, from Saudi Arabia
Thank you sir, you are very kind for saying so. Go well mate😎👍
Looking good mate!
Really enjoying this build series.
Cheers Eric

In all fairness I wouldn’t have expected new shock bolts, but they could have offered to supply them

Great video! To many ugga duggas will get ya every time...hahaha
Thanks for the kind words mate, I sincerely appreciate it. And yes, I’ve been ugga dugga burn many times, you think I would have learned😂😂
ARB is sourcing its leaf springs from Indonesia and Thailand but their components and shocks come from another place.....
Ok
Great video man thanks for it how many inch is that lift thanks if you respond for what I see arb don’t give you all the parts is it thanks again

You had me guessing mate, so I went and checked the package. It says suitable for chassis and bushes so I’m going to take them on their word. Good eye, thanks for sharing😎👍
Hi champ
Do you have part number for the arb suspension kit .. arb NZ can't find them
Thanks Vinnie

Hey mate where did you buy your mounting hardware from thanks
It all came from ARB Oscar, the complete package including all mounting hardware. Cheers😎👍
Where did you get your lift kit from and how many inches is it??
I got it from ARB in Coopers Plains (Brisbane, Australia). It’s a 2” lift. Cheers👍😎
Your not meant to grease the OD of suspension bushes only the ID to help prevent them spinning around in the spring eye or chassis mounts the pins what's meant to be moving...
Have been doing it for years, no adverse effects. What exactly are the deleterious outcomes? Cheers 👍
What size tyres are those?
33x12.5 r15’s
What's the saying??............ We do it Nice, cause we do it Twice!!
Not heard that one before but its apt😂😎👍
Think you need to change the video to how to NOT install suspension lol
Too funny Braden, you are on the money. Cheers😎👍
