I recently bought a 2016 GMC Canyon with a manual transmission. It sounded like a vacuum cleaner. I couldn't hear the motor to know when to shift and ended up over revving the engine. @@barrettnichols4987 In "my opinion" I was over revving it because the motor sounded strained.
