Treat yourself to virtually any live performance of Alison and Union Station. No need for auto tune, they are note perfect and the musicianship of the entire band is absolutely world class. Their harmonies are magical.
Was fortunate to see them live several times and can confirm. Hoping for a reunion tour to be announced at some point.
Alison is also a world class country fiddler. She’s now touring with Robert Plant ( of Led Zep) for their second album together of Americana style songs. She has her own band- Union Station and they are fantastic bluegrass musicians and singers. They contributed heavily to the soundtrack of O Brother Where Art Thou. “ Down to the River to Pray”, Man of Constant Sorrow”, etc.
I hear the similarities to Dolly also. It’s her high range.
Both albums are stellar, beginning to end. I hit the button on the second album before the screen refreshed. They work so well together. Robert Plant’s diversity in style knows no bounds.
Fun fact: Alison is from the Champaign, IL area which is about an hour north of where i'm at & grew up. My dad used to have a bluegrass band back then (The Downstate Ramblers), and Alison's parents would bring her to bluegrass festivals. So, my dad hearing how she was a prodigy on the fiddle & vocals, would bring her up on stage to play with the band.
To be fair, her entire band, Union Station is chock full of world class instrumentalists and singers, including Dan Tyminski (V, G), and Jerry Douglas (Dobro). Check out The Boy Who Wouldn't How Corn next
Glad you pointed this out, Molly. Jerry Douglas is widely regarded as the best dobro player of all time, and rightfully so. The rest of the band is sooo tight. And just fine people.
You've discovered Alison! About time. When you're ready, please react to Ghost in This House... and when you're really ready, please react to Jacob's Dream. My "Dream Team" of female vocalists is Karen Carpenter and Alison Krauss. I've seen Alison in concert four times. Awesome. She is a fiddle / violin virtuoso, and Union Station is a fantastic band.
Absolutely adore Alison Krauss and Union Station!
Please give a listen to Alison Krauss and Robert Plant...they just released their 2nd album together last month !!
Alison is also a fantastic fiddle player as well !!
Both albums by them are simply put, masterpieces.
@@mikerichards67
Agreed !!
She had more grammy's than anyone until recently when Beyonce passed her but I think Allison will soon regain the crown. When you say nothing at all is probably her biggest hit. Jacobs Dream is a haunting true song that shows off her range.
Her name is Alison, not Allison.
'WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL' is a master class in singing...tone, sound, emotion. It's her voice at its best.
Finally someone did this song by Alison and it’s so good. It’s a copy of a song put out by an English band back in the mid sixties. But Alison really made this song her own . She’s just a wonderful musician 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This song was originally released in 1967 by The Foundations. She does a fantastic cover of this song with that Bluegrass flavor
Funny you should bring up Dolly. lol here's a rare gem "Dolly Parton Bury Me Beneath The Willow on Dolly Show with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt 1976/77" and this one is very special to me because Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers were close friends and these two Alison and Dolly sang this song that Kenny wrote "Dolly Parton and Alison Krauss, Bill Dean" the name of the song is Sweet Music Man. and Here's one with Alison & her band "Alison Krauss & Union Station "Steel Rails" ( the older man in the blue suite and white cowboy hat is the father of Bluegrass Bill Monroe, standing in the back) I don't think Alison has gotten the recognition she deserves. But she carved her name into the music of legends right next to Dolly and Emmylou in my humble opinion. Great Reaction Chod, thank you~
Beautiful cover of this song! Check out Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why" or "Come Away With Me." If you love Alison, pretty sure you'll love Norah, too. Thanks for this one.
Allison's voice is truly angelic....Now you need to check out her new album with Robert Plant called 'Raise the Roof'!! I particularly love the track 'It's Over'. You will LOVE IT!
I love their first collaboration so naturally I'll check this out too.
Actually called "Can't Let Go"... the whole album is amazing...
Her name is Alison, not Allison.
I adore opening track…Quattro, and It Do t Bother Me. But whole album is stellar. Grammies 2023 I’m hoping!
Nice one. Plenty more of Allison to discover. And, if you like that, check out Shawn Colvin, who has collaborated with Allison here and there. Her big hit was "Sunny Came Home," but I prefer "Polaroids" or "Get Out of This House". Great songwriter.
Alison is a legend too.
Allison Kraus has won at least 27 Grammys. She held the record for a long time but was surpassed by Beyonce recently! She was a child protegee and I think she can play any instrument. You have no idea just how phenomenol that she actually is! Her specialty instrument is the fiddle, yes fiddle! She sings Country Music so the violin is the fiddle! She is "OUT OF THIS WORLD" TALENTED! I like "There's A Ghost In This House" very much, and I would love to hear your reaction to it! Also, Bluegrass is her favorite type of music! She and her band UNION STATION were fantastic. I am not sure if she has them now or if they dispursed! Thank you so much for your wonderful reaction!
Cover from The Foundations-1967
Carolina in my mind by Alison Krauss & Jerry Douglas. (tribute to author James Taylor)
The voice of an angel. Also, the male voice singing with her, her guitarist, Dan Tyminski, was the voice of Georeg Clooney singing in "O'Brother, Where Art Thou?"
That fiddle is Alison's. She has a large following because she's so talented and wonderful. She has been singing and playing since she was very young.
Her name is Alison, not Allison.
She can bring tears & goosebumps- simultaneously .
Surrounded herself with top shelf forever .
Rare , indeed .
Her angelic voice is a breath of fresh air on a hard day.....every sound you when she sings is from her beautiful talent and I thank God for it. We need more women singers like this in music!
This song was written by an all black 60s group...and when they did their R n R version, it was great too!
I saw her & Union Station is a small outdoor setting on a perfect summer night. The musicality of these artists when live really just tells you why they are who they are. Phenomenal
One of the most respected musicians in all of Nashville and she had won the most Grammys ever by a woman until Beyoncé passed her last year. I agree there’s always been a sweetness to her voice that has reminded me of dolly as well
The voice of an angel
Alison is bluegrass. As such, I'm sure adding a sax was never considered due to the fact that those are never used in that genre. Alison's instrument is the fiddle (violin). You should watch a live performance of her and her band Union Station. The technicality of that band is stunning.
She sings like an angel listen to her song “simple love“ and she also cut an album with Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin check out the song “gone, gone, gone“
You need to listen to Alison Kraus and Union Station live.
Krauss, not Kraus.
Dolly Parton loves Alison Krauss and Union Station. Alison toured with Dolly and has redone some of Dolly's songs.
Allison plays the violin also.
Alison, not Allison.
Great cover version. Alison could sing a textbook and I'd listen!!!
Allison is the one playing the violin.
Her voice is like a pillow filled with cotton. Yes, very soft and easy on the ears.
Alison is in my top 5 of female singers, her voice is angelic
Can't go wrong with Alison Chod.
Oldie but goodie! Used to see Allison at an annual festival in Michigan, Wheatland, first performing in 1991. She was always a major crowd pleaser!
Her name is Alison, not Allison.
Yes! Such an amazing voice and just as good live! Check out her stuff with Robert Plant. Please read the letter is a good one!
Alison had an duet album called Raising Sand come out back in 2007 with Led Zeppelin front man Robert Plant that swept the Grammys. They just released another one a few weeks ago called Raise The Roof. Alison also has MANY Grammys for her fiddle playing🎵🎶🎵🎶
Her duet with James Taylor, “How’s the World Treating You?” is an incredible blend of 2 great voices
I first heard Allison Krause on the 0 Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack. She has the voice of an Angel!
Her name is Alison Krauss, not Allison Krause.
@@leonardshevlin7260 Thank you for the correction ✌🏼
She was playing the violin as well as singing.
So beautiful and so understated, yet it really shows off her incredibly pure voice. And I'm glad you pointed out the fiddle... that was her as well, as others have stated, she's an incredible violin player! The whole band is fantastic, those harmonies, the gorgeous finger-picking on the acoustic guitars. Glad it swept you away. As other have mentioned, check out her work with Robert Plant!
I remember The Foundations doing this song in the 60's.
Allison and Robert Plant singing Killing the Blue from the album Raising Sand is a great listen.
One of the Purest Voices Ever. Definitely a gift from God and she uses it well.
It's a shame I can't give this but one 👍. And she did the violin fill.
She is a G.O.A.T. singer..
"Ghost in This House", "The Lucky One", "When You Say Nothing At All"
She has a wonderful voice! As others have mentioned, her collaborations with Robert Plant need your attention!✌🏻
Her voice is so special.. I can listen to her every day
Chod, Alison has 27 grammy wins. Most of any artist all time. You need to check her out with her band "Union Station"
Comparison to Dolly is spot on. She is the QUEEN of bluegrass. She also plays the fiddle. She’s had more Grammies than any other female artist. This song does not BEGIN to show her power or range!! Multiple slbuns with her band Union Station. Won album and song of year in 2009 with collaboration with Robert Plant. Raising Sand. Just released a new with him last month. Imagine her power full on with Plant singing Battle if Evermore. Fantastic.
But she is best known for her bluegrass/country work and her work on movie soundtrack of Oh Brother where Art Thou….
Alison Kraus, beautiful voice nice version of an old song... check out the original song by 'The Foundations' . They had a hit with this song in 1967!
Her name is Krauss, not Kraus.
@@leonardshevlin7260 Hahaha you are a man on a mission! I get it, the constant misspelling is so annoying! Especially coming from people claiming to be fans.
@@yardengali Alison was born in 1971. Look up the names of the four victims at Kent State University.
Someday, you'll want to check out the galactic banjo player Bela Fleck and his Flecktones. They will blow your mind.
I still can’t believe you have not reacted to a single song from the first trio album since Dolly Emmy Lou and Linda sing all the songs together and you love all three of them you have cut to react to something from that album soon. I suggest “telling me lies”
This is no where near her best track. You should check out more of her stuff
And the live versions at that!
This is a beautiful cover of a song from the group the Foundations from the 60's. Alison Krauss has never done anything that wasn't magical.
So good!
Love Alison, some of her songs you should check out: When You Say Nothing At All, The Lucky One, and Whiskey Lullaby.
Her name btw rhymes with House.
Do NOT miss the original version by one of the first integrated groups from the UK. The Foundations. You would appreciate this even more knowing where this song actually came from!!
You found her! Lots of great bluegrass awaits!
Krauss sounds like kraut as in sour kraut
You are in for a big treat. She also plays the fiddle. Alison Krauss and Union Station are the killer band. It is modern bluegrass. A huge catalogue for Alison. Some songs you should try are 'Ghost In This House' 'Sawing On Strings' 'Paper Airplane' 'Man of Constant Sorrow' just endless amount of stuff you need to hear!
Oh a great one by Union Station 'The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn' A real kicker.
You've crawled down a WONDERFUL rabbit hole here!
But you won't hear a lot of sax in bluegrass music, but you will hear some soulful dobro from grammy award winner Jerry Douglas and the amount of soul that comes out of Alison's fiddle is awesome.
health to you and your loved ones!👍
@Chod ... Dolly and Allison sang together! And the song is one written by Kenny Rogers... "Sweet Music Man." Here's the link to their live performance: ruclips.net/video/7PYmgW_Sxbs/видео.html
(They are accompanied by guitarist Billy Dean.)
Just listen to the rest of this amazing album
Wow, I had forgotten all about this song -- The Foundations had a hit with it when I was a wee lad. It was always on the radio. I had no idea Alison Krause had recorded it, too. She's got such a beautiful and often haunting voice, and yeah she can bring it when the song requires it! Wonderful artist, fiddler/singer/writer collaborator.
Her name is Krauss.
@@leonardshevlin7260 sorry. Uncharacteristic of me, but I'm human.
She covers a Beatles song as well on this album
Lost in all the vocal hoopla is the fact that she is a championship caliber fiddler too.
Violin was Allison as well.
If you haven't yet. Check her out singing When you say nothing at all.
She has a slew of songs with her band and other artist including the new album with Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. She has sang with Dolly Parton. Dolly loves her. Her band Union Station is just awesome
Another female singer/musician to check out is Diana Krall....Primarily a jazz player....great musician. Fly me to the Moon....is a good one.
She is an Angel...or what I hope an Angel would be! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️
There is so much to explore with her. Now That I Found you collection is a good start.
i wish i could sing like this
You’re absolutely right, she has the sweet tone that Dolly has. It’s the soprano, and pure fast vibrato. Gorgeous
That btw is Alison playing the violin
Alison is a legend in her own right. Definitely influenced by Dolly. That's Alison on violin, btw
I saw her and her band, Union Station, in Indianapolis. She is amazing. Try "The Lucky One" and "Let Me Touch You for Awhile."
Allison voice is so special…and she is also the violin player.
She's fantastic. She has done a ton of duets and background singing for the likes of Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs she has her own band Union Station and is working with Robert Plant right now. She's AMAZING!
Dolly is right. Nailed it!
Perfect. Try Choctaw Hayride( best from their, LIVE, album). 5 world class players on a great beat.
What's even more impressive is its Allison on the violin/fiddle.
The Voice of an angel 😇
Glad you liked her. Such a unique and beautiful sounding voice. Great fiddle player also. She has great versions of the songs Graceland and Back in Love Again with Jerry Douglas on dobro and slide guitar.
One of the fee times a cover is better than the original 😊😊😊
Such a beautiful song 🎶🙂
Try Emmy Lou Harris - A Ways to Go and Crescent City. Linda Ronstadt - Someone to Lay Down Beside Me, Lose Again and Try Me Again. Bonnie Raitt - Angel from Montgomery, Since I Fell for You and I Aint Blue. Nancy Griffith - Three Flights Up. Cold Blood - I'll Be Lone Gone and Baby, I Love You.
A great cover of a Foundation's song from the 60's.She sure does it justice.
Her and Dolly are very good friends....
An amazing rendition of the original great version by The Foundations in 1968...
you need to listen to her cover of Robert Plants " Big Log ".
Her second album with Robert Plant was recently released. That's her on fiddle.
Try another beautiful song by Alison call 'When You Say Nothing At All'. It'll get you. Like this one does.
You still have not reacted to Tyne Symphonic progressive rock bandRenaissance with Annie Haslam’s 5 octave range voice. Try Ashes Are Burning or Running Hard or even a poppy tune called Carpet of The Sun.
Just like Linda Ronstadt, she sounds just as good live as on recordings. Suggested songs that really showcase her voice: "When you say nothing at all", and "Ghost in this house". You will not be disappointed.
Her voice is angelic! Her main genre is blue grass, check out Whiskey Lullabye with Brad Paisley.
Chod......you gotta react to her collab with Robert Plant on Zeppelins "Black Dog" LIVE!!!! It will surprise!
She's currently touring with Robert Plant last I checked.
I beleive her biggest hit is "When You Say Nothing At All" and like others have posted she and Robert Plant have a couple of albums together.
