Positive thoughts. You know what you are talking about. You are a master.
This is definitely the most professional and informative link about pools ..Mark is a wealth of knowledge and explains every thing step by step . Covers all issues with pools ...and is easily understandable..thank you ..all the very best from Bali Indonesia (British expat).
Thank you for sharing. Excellent instructions and information. You made my life easier.
Thank you so much for sharing such wonderful videos. They're super informative 👍. Would you please give me directions on how to figure out which size of cord stopper is fitting for my pool? 1" or 3/4"? Do I have to buy both sizes to try it out? Thank you very much.
The cord stopper is made in both sizes, however 1" is the most common. Here is the link for both, if you need one. Thanks for watching.

Another great video. Well done.
Thank you Very Much..
Hello from Miami lakes Florida..good videos🤝
Another excellent video. If I determine that there is a leak in the light line and if I lower the pool level below the light and seal the line with Permaseal, will there no longer be water in the light line (as there was prior to the sealing)? Is the reason there is water in the light line in your diagram because the original seal failed or because it was never originally sealed? Thanks again for such a good video.
There is water in the light line and this is normal. When you seal the line it will remain dry. Most lights are not sealed, however if your line is in question then you can seal or plug the line. When using Permaseal it needs to be dry, when using the cord stopper or the putty it can be done underwater. There are links for the Permaseal , cord stopper and the putty in the description below if you need it. Thanks for watching.
Hello, great videos, very informative! I have a question regarding the second hole: the plug [to our second hole in one of our skimmers] broke into pieces and is now essentially an open hole. What is the purpose of the plug in the first place, and do I need to replace it?
The second plug in the simmer is either a vacuum line, tied to the main drain or just capped off. If you are not for sure, you can give me a call and I can discuss this further with you. I'm available Tuesday - Saturday from 10 to 5 EST.
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies Thank you so much!!!
hello i bought a house with a 12 year old liner now im sure got some leaks because im loosing water everyday should i waste money fixing looking for holes or just replace it for a new one? need some advice
Need to know why our vacuum system don't function well, instead throwing out some waste again to the pool.
We are using a Hayward 2420 d.e. filter system. Thank you for your response.
It sounds like you need to clean or backwash your filter. After you clean you will have to add DE. Thanks for watching.
What is the purpose of the second hole in the bottom of the skimmer basket and should it be plugged? Also, I have what looks to be a drain cover halfway up on the side of my inground pool. What is the purpose of this?
The second hole in the skimmer is usually plugged off. However, if it's not, then it may be tied into the main drain. From what you are describing is half way up your pool wall. Drains are typically in the deep end of the pool, which is a suction port like the skimmer for circulation.
Is it safe to remove the light fixture? I'm pretty sure that's where it's leaking but I thought that you could get electrocuted if you open the pool light box. What do I need to do to safely put a cord plug in?
Turn off the light, remove light from the niche and you can plug it. The niche has water in it, the light housing that contains the bulb is dry, you do not have to open the light housing to plug the cord. Once you have installed the cord stopper (plug) you can put the light back in the niche and you will be fine.
Do you prefer the cord stopper over butyl tape?
Yes, the cord stopper is better. Thanks for watching.
xypex cement is the best hyd cement
I have an issue with water seeping in through the gunite wall underneath the light fixing, nowhere else does this happen. Was a weak spot created when the pool light casing was put into the gunite shell?
If water is coming in around the light niche then water will also go out around the light when the pool is full, this is a structural leak and in time will become worse. You can call a local pool company that does this type of repair and they can cut around the niche and reseal it.
Hi Guys - I have been searching for a leak in my 50 yr. old concrete pool for the past 5 years. The pool was covered in fiberglass during the 80s. I’ve had 2 professional leak companies try and find the leak, but they couldn’t. I lose 1” of water a day. This year I’ve let the water leak down until it has stopped. I may have found it…it could be the light housing. Do you guys have a remote consultation service I could use to get some help with this? I’m an 8 out of 10 on the handyman proficiency scale. I’ve done a lot of repairs to this pool. Thanks for any info!
Yes, contact me and I will be glad to help.
Off topic from your leak but I am surprised your fiberglass as lasted so long on a concrete pool, my fibreglass delaminated badly when put onto the concrete shell, I think it must be down to poor workmanship.
My pool is leaking people keep coming to check and are not able to fix it.what do I need to do?
Watch part 1 to this video, and once you determine the type of leak you have (structural, suction or pressure) feel free to contact me and I will be glad to help.
Size of the cord stoper🤷🏻♂️?.
The size of the cord stopper in the video is a 1" cord stopper. See link

fOR ALL THE INFORMATION YOU HAVE PROVIDED i DO NOT SEE ANYTHING MENTIONING A STRUCTURAL LEAK AROUND THE STEPS OF A POOL WHERE THE LINER IS SEALED AGAINST THE STEPS.
IN MY CASE I AM SUSPECTING THIS POINT, ANY RECOMENDATIONS?
The gasket around the steps usually does not leak, it can but is not common. I have several questions myself and if you would like to contact me I will be glad to help troubleshoot this issue.
You did not cover cracks in a fiberglass pool. I tried to use Phenol red in attempt to do a dye test at a suspected leak, but got no result that would indicate to me a leak through the crack. I may have been doing it incorrectly, but since you didn't cover troubleshooting using a dye method, I was left without a confirmation of leak.
Which layer of the shell is the impermeable layer?
I'm in the pre-plaster gunite curing stage. Ground water is coming through the gunite wall where the jet pipe juts out of the gunite. This is not a pipe leak; it's ground water leaking from the outside of the gunite to the inside of the pre-plastered pool.
The contractor is saying this is normal. If it is, why is it in only 1 spot and what makes the pool shell waterproof? The plaster?
There are too many variables in this question for me to answer without me physically seeing the job. You can get a second opinion from a local contractor. Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this further and I will be glad to help.
Basically common sense
