EA SPORTS FC 24 Review - ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT

- This is a significant year for EA Sports’ annual football franchise, thanks to a complete change in branding, but EA Sports FC 24 sadly doesn’t take that opportunity to make any meaningful changes or improvements to the series’ formula. On the pitch, where it matters most, it’s thankfully as good as it ever has been, with marginal iterations continuing to make the on-pitch gameplay a lot of fun, but everything around that is a letdown, to varying degrees.
Not only does the game not make any meaningful changes, the few changes that it does make are disappointing in their execution as well. In the end, EA Sports FC 24 is a solid football sim, but one that feels like a real missed opportunity, given the context surrounding its release.

There's so many simple improvements they could make to career mode. Id love to see a players career stats and achievements. As NBA 2k has had for years.
Or atleast do like Pes ML and actually let you view other player stats from other leagues
Since EA owned NBA Live, it makes sense that they wouldn't follow a winning formula like 2k
They need to make it like 2k and add like a mycareer but your player can play in a “MyPark” against other online players or sum
@@RajayPatterson for sure. Its insane that you can literally only see stats for one league and only on the current season. Every signing you make is blind because you have no clue how a player has done the year prior or even that very year of he's in a different league
I remember nba live 2006 or something had all time stats and leaderboards, career stats, all player stats in the league. I've always wished to have detailed stats like that in fifa, it was so easy to see how your career has progressed.
It actually felt like a career not like fifa where it just feels like your simply playing season to season
People really just buy this game now to get the updated rosters and stats. If they updated the rosters and stats in the older versions there’d be far less incentive to buy the new one
This is where mods come in handy. I'm sticking with Fifa 23 PC with the updated faces, kits, rosters, career start in 2023, correct Champions League fixtures etc made by modding community. And realism mods with adjusted sliders make it play really well

To be honest people expect way too much from EA developers. The engine is old and the development framework has been the same for like a decade, I bet it's the same dev team too. Not much to improve without rebooting the franchise in an overhauled engine. There's also the fact that these guys have less than a year to work on the next iteration. Every FIFA being a copy paste sounds about right when you take all these facts into consideration. That being said, I'll stick to my cracked copy of FIFA 23.

I play Fifa for around 20 years and this year I stick with Fifa 22, no consideration for purchasing this year edition on sale or whatever, hope we all show EA our attitude

The only way EA will actually put some real effort into making this game truly amazing each year is if people stop buying it, including myself (I won’t buy it this year). There’s no reason for them to make any significant changes otherwise.

to be fair to EA, If i was a owner in a company and would make a shitty product and people were buying said shitty product, then why would I make an effort in devolepment or try to make it better.

Idk if anyone else experiences this, but I can’t seem to understand how defensive AI works. In Fifa 17, defenders would be able to steal the ball or challenge just by being in proximity. Even when you weren’t controlling them. Now, players will stare at the ball that is half a foot away and not budge (very “realistic”). I’ve never been great at Fifa, but the learning curve is wicked steep with defending this year, and it feels like I gotta re learn it after 23.
Same problem here. Not to mention players not being able to pass to save their lives, without some CPU with significantly lower stats, intercepting the ball like clockwork. Dribbling moves also don’t work
If the defending is worse than 23 then I will continue to hold firm and not buy it
@@jamesfuller7184 seems like I was partly mistaken. Defenders are busted OP, but only if you let the computer do everything. Pressure tactics are crazy and you don’t need to do anything (game plays itself). Manually defending is harder without a doubt. If you go in for a challenge, you need to time it perfectly, otherwise your player still glide 5 yards with no recovery. Whole game is a mess and gameplay sucks. Watch some more videos from streamers who give honest takes like inception or NickRTFM. Game is dead before TOTY…

Having the same problem they don’t believe in defending it all about attacking and if you know how the shield works it makes the game 100% worse they just freely run past you no stop with any real tackles can’t even get next to player lol 3 star that being kind

For anyone new to this: EA purposely leave career mode stale, (and other 1p modes), because they want everyone playing FUT as that’s where the money is for them. They don’t give a cr@p whether you enjoy 1p or not. If playing online I recommend seasons, since at least it’s a fair team selection.

The training games have been same for 10 years. everything is samey. Played the 10hr Trial and resorted back to fifa 23. No doubt in my mind now EAFC25 will be exactly the same with updated teams etc…and cutscenes/new front cover

It is unacceptable that there is no real competition in football games besides Pes who made good games but failed to keep up and now they make crap. Without real competition we won't get a good football game.
Maybe FIFA can do something with their version, very doubtful but we’ll see.

Did he say “the on-pitch gameplay is solid as it tends to be every year”? There are a dozen reasons why this game sells and is played - on-pitch gameplay is not one of them. If not for the licenses and game modes, no one will touch this game.
The game simulates a soccer match well. Simple. Its just high paced and arcadey

I just want a feature that a player can go rage whenever the referee makes an unhappy decision and going rage or accepting the decision peacefully affects the player's progression...like RPG element

EA FC 24 is an ice skating game. Players move like they are on ice.. controlling a player is like catching a big fish out of the water..

I brought the game yesterday and have stopped playing it already. It’s so bad I started playing gears of war this morning from Xbox 360 and it blows fifa 24 out of the water. This is the exact same game as last year……….players suddenly become super slow, face/hand blocks (who jumps up and the blocks the ball with there face/hands running full speed looking at the defender. It defies physics and happens 30x a game online), ball has a mind of its own and it’s your turn to score you will and if it isn’t you won’t. Pre-determined outcomes. 11 years of horrible fifa. I downloaded efootball and they only have 25 teams total. What other soccer games are there cause I’m willing to try them out

25 teams on efootball you mean with license or how? cause they got even Mls, Liga Mx, Ligue one... last year they had Serie A, this year is called calcio but every team is in there, same as spain league, english league...I think the problem with efootball is that basically they are focused in the online mode of "My team" and until now doesnt have a lot of offline modes. They gameplay is far superior than fifa, i will give efootball that. FIFA is awesome in everything off the pitch

I really don’t understand people purchasing sports games yearly. That’s an addiction... for nothing more than roster updates and somehow less simulation gameplay and less game modes. My friends and i stopped buying them after 2018, and the games have only gotten worse.
Just look at the way players move in this video. So floaty, no physics or momentum. Just fast af at every direction.
Honestly I'm rarely vexed but when are we going to call a spade a spade. I grew up lucky to have the joys of new PES and Fifa games each improving on the last each different. The genuine dedication of pes to create an actual sim for purists (the PC mods make it look real incredible, if only they had licenses sigh) and the genuine enjoyment of past fifa games and the licencing just making it ace. The money making scam monopoly that now exists churning out the same garbage broken game for hundreds of millions franchise knowing ppl will buy it and as a result no driver to actually develop and create a fixed realistic game no just slap a sticker here change a few menus and now next level get rid of the one cut scene that actually had to stay. Its sad that we have no purchasing choice here and the commercial machine rolls on like a fan buying a football shirt regardless of how crap it is. If it was a car it would be recalled over and over its that bad. Oh and now each year they are on BBC national radio as a feature marketing promoting the release(!) and sounding smug about how iconic the game is. Its really gone too far now. Thanks EA.
have you even played the game? from an actual gameplay eprspective on the pitch it's completely different, more realistic I would say in terms of scenarios/events/actions on the pitch etc
FIFA / FC, is a game for 12y old Americans who know nothing about football and who think that pace and stupid skill moves is everything. When PES died, football games died as well

Want to add... The horrific lighting option for a sunny day. While broadcast cameras expose to darkest part of the pitch, blowing out the crowd if necessary... this game just swamps it in darkness. It's horrific.
So im a legendary difficult level player and have been playing since fifa 16 and i can say that the game series has gone downhill a lot. The most broken thing is division rivals. Like every time i play i play very well and get tons of changes but the gk saves every shot and when my opponent comes for 1 attack he scores. That has repeated to me every game and the end stats are usually like 15 to 5 shots and guess the scoreline you might think i gotta win the game like 5 1 but ooh noo i LOOSE by like 1 5 so yea that is my very healty gameplay situklation

That’s just how it is. Same as last year. You can tell when your going to lose………your players get really slow and on offense they don’t do anything. You can also tell when your going to win because your offensive players make superb runs and your defense feels fast. Your defense will also come back. In games where your SUPPOSED to lose, it’s one on one with their strikers and your four defenders. No matter the system, it’s all the same

@@antonieficova I attack with Davies from Bayern. That was my trick. But last year the super slow mo started. On this game when your on the downside of the script, Davies is a 95 pace and even he turns into a turtle. He gets stuck and loses the ball. Same with all defenders I have noticed when the “momentum “ goes against you

What I hate about the past games is career modes has the most unrealistic transfers ever, for example I’ve seen Salah bought by Madrid or Pulisic bought by Barca . Has anyone played career mode yet?

Save your money. It will take u about 3 weeks to the see the “pattern” on online seasons and then u can’t unsee it. It’s so scripted. After 10 mins your players will get either really fast or really slow. That is how you know if your SUPPOSED to win that game or SUPPOSED to lose it. It’s up to the cpu
I'm more disappointed on the switching, a player I don't really want to be switched to is the one I get even with the second player switch icon on😒😒. You absolutely right, not overreacting!
The gameplay is god awful, your players feel clunky and slow meanwhile everyone on the other team has 99 pace, as you go for standing tackles your players completely miss the ball, defenders who you aren’t controlling just run out the way of attackers leaving them with an open net, goal keepers have the ability of Cal the dragon, World Class is to easy but Legendary is just way to hard/scripted, everytime you tackle someone the ball just goes straight back to them which I thought they said they where ‘fixing’ and on multiple occasions when the AI has had a penalty and I’ve chose the right way to dive the game delays the dive so I can’t get to the ball

I'll probably buy it once it gets a bit cheaper becasue I've not bought one since '21 so I don't feel too ripped off as I'll be getting a much better game than '21 I hope. Annoying thing is, I literally buy it for one thing, playing games against my friends online so I'm not interesting in UT (the whole thing is just not my vibe) and Career mode (could be good but much like the management mode, it's too basic and repetitive). So all I really want is good graphics, realistic gameplay and a decent editor as me and my mates make our own teams with custom players based on celebrities or people we went to school with for example. So a good editor would be nice, like a boot creator and nice kit editor. Sad thing is these were features on PES like 12 years ago but I don't think the average player cares about this and it's not a profitable area of the game so this will never be added. I find having a good editor helps the longevity of the game but again, they don't want this, they want you desparate for the next game each year. It may sound sad but not being able to edit kits really ruins the realism of the management and career mode for me - I can't be the only one who is that petty or to put it nicely 'creative'. Anyway, I'll buy it, I'll get hours and hours of time playing with my mates online and we'll have a good laugh so it'll be worth the money but it's such a shame that making money is the main aim each year rather than making the game cooler and more open ended like the old PES game. Even something similar to the Master League, like a career/management mode with some imagination would probably push me into playing one player alone a whole lot more.
Anyone who pays full price for any sports game needs to have their money taken away.

Honestly I would be more impressed with actually good commentary. What makes the game so boring is the fact that we have had the same commentary since the game released. They should take inspiration from 2k who updates commentary or adds new commentary each game

In Manager Career Mode, do we still can't do a fully COM-controlled match simulation like PES's Master League? I like FIFA's player development setup, it's the one thing that's superior to PES's ML but it is kinda tiring to have me always play it by myself, and it's always either play the match by myself or skipping the match entirely on the previous FIFA games I've tried. Sometimes I just want to lay back and watch the COM vs COM AI play the match like how I do it on Master League. Honestly it's ridiculous if they still didn't add this feature.
And about the Player Career Mode, do we still can't do something like requesting our agent or club to try a transfer deal to a specific club like how PES can do with their Become A Player Mode? Like let's say I played in a mid table EPL club, but then I want to try moving towards certain club on a different league, do we still can't do that and still have to rely on the random offers after asking the manager to put our player to be listed on the transfer list? Not to mention that if we're one of the important players, getting the approval to be listed is already ridiculously hard.
in the last 3 FIFA games I've played (21 22 and 23), none of those games can do these.
Whispers *efootball…it’s far from perfect but it so much fun to play. Feels natural as hell and it runs on unreal engine. Feels like your playing football.

First time I haven't bought it on release, sick of the same dodgy dribbling, fast paced arcade game that has lost its identity, all they care about it FUT, career mode is dead and so is my interest in this game, RIP fifa we has some memories.
How a game become worst year by year? Tons of bugs, shitting graphic optimization, removing features like matchday intros etc. The world needs a good alternative for FIFA (FC).

Gameplay is full of bugs. What changes they have made make the game worse. Some features don't work properly (clubs). Poor game, definitely not worth your hard earned money. Just a poor version of Fifa 23. And don't get me started on the headache of manager mode, the only thing they didn't need to change they went and changed 🙄

Just tried Fifa 23 again, it has taken years but I actually just don't want this "improvement" anymore. And the entry to get all the licenses for another studio to develop a simulator has to be insane. Ugh!

its like EA decided to take the codes from fifa15 and add a little graphics to it....the keeper seems to be playing in a different dimension and the gameplay is just too glitchy...i was angry i broke the game into two...im back to fifa23 and im happy

Every year i ask myself.. why they dont give the players the possibilities to co-op all modes in the game. Im sure there would be a market both youtubers and others. Both NHL and EA FC are missing this feature since they exist. Dont know why this can be hard to edit. Would open up career modes with friends. Play together in the same team or team each. Or play cups, tournament mode etc. Every year they dont care.. how many are working on these titles? Cant be that difficult
You can play co op in seasons online or in friendlies, theres co op in Ultimate team and there’s pro clubs and Volta online that’s pretty much every mode in the game you can play with a friend online right there 👍🏼

I played the 10 hour trial...and what they replaced walk outs with is crap.
100% remove lineup cutscene make this game feel like shit...everyears we waiting to see new broadcast lineup...but they remove...now no more feel football atmosphere bcoz no more chant from fans...
Walk outs are still on all old generation consoles not new gen.
I hated it. Most attacking techniques are changed. No finesse through ball anymore. Everything is changed. The way players behave in attacking ... Sucks
Game is 100% not responsive. The animations ruin the game
Literally for years you can't even change the camera angle on a deep free kick. Can't change a throw in taker. Goalies have like 2 animations. Such a stale game

I have fifa 18 and 19. I find them more enjoyable. My advice just keep playing it for now. You can get fc 24 when it's cheap.
Tight dribbling is SO annoying. Players just do that all game. If you tackle it they either glide by or it’s a penalty in the box. Game is decent for casual users but who plays games casually ? The sweats know how to break the game mechanics.
Miss time a tackle in the box and you are off😂
Gameplay is very good in my opinion its just the graphics I find a bit disappointing on the ps5, daytime matches look terrible, the lighting is all wrong.

The players "ice skating" keeps getting worse and worse. I just played FIFA 22 on my PS4 today and the game feels and looks WAY better.
I play offline with my friends most of the time, and personally this game currently is absolutely terrible.
Reactions feel slow and laggy, defending is an absolute nightmare regardless of what players you have in your defence. Haaland EXTREMELY over powered.
User interface is absolute terrible feels like I’m playing PES.
Can’t change controller settings anymore to manually change players during game play and choose what you’d like assisted or not assisted during gameplay.
The games feel extremely scripted, it’s the worst experience. I really hope with the update
