I worked in a military max security prison and this is joke lol. First of all, you never walk prisoners by yourself much less without handcuffs. Irl if you're handcuffed you go in the cell, the doors have a small door where handcuffs are then taken off. Say they escape their cell by some miracle lol, they could never escape the entire building way too many doors, a guard would radio commander center. Say they escape outside, they could never get to the outside perimeter. They basically made this looks like a walk in the park not a prison, much less a military prison.
I had more trouble to find the way out of the hotel than him finding his way out of max. Security prison.

As former military police, I'll tell you that, unless something has radically changed, our motorpool never looks as perfect as all those pretty new black cars, and if they do, wow. Lots nicer than the beaten-down garbage we drove.

I think that's all that matters. Hugh Jackman looks nothing like Wolverine (yes I know Reacher is from a novel and Wolverine is from a comic), but he brings it with attitude and acting ability like Tom does for this. Also, dude from the series, no disrespect, but he looks like John Cena and the Rock had a child lol, NOBODY in there right mind, is going to start a fight with someone who looks like that!!?!
And he did it all while wearing lifts. Super impressive

The best thing about these movies is how realistic the escape scenes are.
Except for someone who worked in the Military prison system and sees how unrealistic it is. 0% chance that it could occur as shown, but still a fun film and scene. :P

I agree. And Gerard Butler. I totally appreciate they do all their derring-do and still keep their shirts on. Tatum Channing doesn't keep his shirt on for long in any of the movies I've seen. While I appreciate the male human form, these action artists make the story about the characters and not their bods.

What we learned from this: When Tom Cruise is in character whether he is Jack Reacher, Ethan Hunt, or Maverick he's not going to lie to you, so you better believe him. However, if he is just Tom Cruise, then be careful because he then could be lying to you.

This clip is the classic example of why the Amazon "Reacher" series season 1 was/is such a hit. The Cruise version departed greatly from the books.

We have a saying in Bangla, my mother tongue, "the cow in a story climbs up a tree" .. very apt here.. everything is in sync, even the witty dialogue between the characters. The viewers feel "ah, wish I could walk or talk like that".

It is pretty good. But all the Reacher novels are completely unrealistic escapist fiction, enjoyable, sure. But not in any way realistic.
1st Reacher movie was so much better. Don't know what happened here, feels like Tom was forced into this one. This one feels like a made for TV movie and is forgettable.
