I love cyclone separators and I love that more manufacturers are putting these kits together. Even though some perform better than others, using ANY separator is leagues ahead of using none at all. My setup is a dust deputy 2.5 with an eagle 14 gallon bucket as the waste container, with the big 16 gallon dewalt vac as the motor. One day I'll upgrade that to a festool vac, but it does the job perfectly fine for now. My main gripe with these off the shelf kits is the waste container size, which is why I did mine piece by piece and went with the eagle 14 gallon container. I also like that it's tall rather than wide, so it takes up less floor space. A tip for using any of these separators, start off with a new/clean filter in your vac, and make sure you use a bag. You won't have to empty the bag for literal years and the filter will stay clean since all the fine dust that makes it through the separator will go in the bag. Happy new year!
