HELLFIRE Diesel Locomotive Thrash: Chasing Trains

Join me on a chase from Eastleigh all the way up to Leamington Spa chasing 56098 and 50007, then proceeding onto Nuneaton and London Euston chasing the Network Rail NMT. I could not believe some of the immense thrash and tones that I experienced in this chase. I would absolutely get out of bed at 04:30 again for another experience like this.

This lads enthusiasm and excitement for one of humanities greatest inventions is contageous. I'm not a train enthusiast, but watching this has instantly put me in a better mood. Cheers Francis, never change mate.

you can easily get this guys enthusiasm and childlike passion. Just find something that will make you happy, not everything is doom and gloom. Lots of things to get excited about.
Francis is a world of knowledge on his subject, he’d make a good TV presenter. Francis is the Beno of trains.
Imagine being at Lemington Spa station on a boring cloudy day, and suddenly seeing a guy chasing a train shouting "hellfire!". It would make your day.

Absolutely zero interest in trains, but how can you not smile at these videos. Francis is smiling, the train driver is smiling whilst blowing the horn, and I'm literally grinning watching it. Honestly, keep it up pal.
Such a lovely chap. He reminds me of my trainspotting days in the late 50s and early 60s. Life was much nicer in those days and Francis is as excited in 2024 at the sight of the older engines as I was when when they were first introduced into service! The unique nose cam and general video quality make his videos quite addictive... 👍👍😊

I was under the impression most trains in Europe and UK were electrified. I'm surprised at the amount of diesels in the UK. Great videos !

As a boy I can remember playing in the playground in the summer at primary school and hear these tones in the distance. What nostalgia. Hopefully the tones will stay the same for future people.

When I was young I would go with my dad to the big London stations and train spot with him, my dad passed away 6 years ago now my interest in trains has come back.some ways it connects back the times with my dad. Thank you Francis for your enthusiasm and joy.

I am 65 and when I was a 2 yrs old I screamed if my sisters tried to take me away from Newbury station where I loved to see, smell and hear the old steam trains of the day as they flew through the station. I didn't go on to become a train spotter but I love your enthusiasm, it is infectious. Great show as usual!!
It's great that in 2024 you still get a buzz out of the hobby. I called it a day in 1989, the Peaks had gone as had the 25's. My local yard, Healey Mills was being run down, the pit closures meant Knottingley had lost its purpose, and Normanton had lost its NE/SW expresses due to the Royston landslip, so there seemed little point in continuing. I kept my photographs of better days so i can reminisc. Great enthusiasm though!

I used to ride the class 50s from Reading to Didcot for a train journey. Nice to see my local station, Eastleigh, in the video 👍
My family are from Crewe. My dad (and his 6 brothers) all left school at 15 to become apprentices in Crewe works, which at the time was huge. My dad spent all of his working life there repairing the diesel locos. He reckoned he'd worked on every single diesel train of that era. He didn't enjoy it, and like so many of the men in the works, he was repeatedly exposed asbestos, which lead to asbestosis and his death. Crewe and Swindon (the other big works) were national blackspots for asbestosis.
I wonder what he'd think of the joy you have in your videos here. I'm sure he'd have really enjoyed a chat with you, and if you wanted to know how to rewire anything on the engine he'd have explained it well. Thanks for the wonderful videos.

Great vid Francis, brings back lots of childhood memories of my best friend an I train spotting. I remember when HST125 first came out went travelled to Retford and watched em come straight through at speed. It was amazing....im 61 now 😊

Francis is very, very clever. He knows exactly what he is doing when it comes to presentation and production. When I first saw him I presumed his videos were spoof, Alan Partridge style big production company made films but they’re not which makes them so much better. His films are a combination of genuine enthusiasm and passion and a very smart guy realising he’s onto something unique that captivates and entertains. Long may he continue to make the nation chuckle and promote our great railways.
