    this video is so informative and helpful!! i have a question; 5:34 is there any specific brand of paint or anything thats particularly good for the coating the outside? im currently building an enclosure and would like to paint and waterproof the outside in some way... is it just regular house paint? any specific brand? could the fumes affect the gecko at all or does it not matter since they dont really touch it?

      I just used regular interior paint, I don’t think it’s 100% waterproof but it shouldn’t get damaged from water spills and stuff. You can also buy waterproof sealant for the exterior though if that’s something you want to do. As for the fumes it should be fine depending on how smelly the paint is, you can always let it sit outside for about a week just to be safe.

    Hey man, been following this build pretty closely for some Emerald tree skinks. Question: how's the liquid rubber working for you? Were you able to silicone a background well? I'm at 3 coats now and wondering if I should add more.

      The liquid rubber seems to be holding up very well, I actually didn’t end up siliconing the background in place, I wanted to keep that separate but I would think it would adhere just fine. As for the coats how ever many I initially did in the video should be enough, I’ve had no leaks or anything since applying it.

    Hi! About how much do you think this would coat roughly? Great video

    • @hodesigns
      @hodesigns  2 месяца назад

      If I remember correctly around $80-$100 for just the tank. For the tank plus stand probably around $20-$150. but it could be a little more or less. Should be around that range though, I wish I remembered exactly, sorry about that.

      @hodesigns that's not bad at all,I just don't have all the tools you have 😅

    • @hodesigns
      @hodesigns  2 месяца назад

      Yeah tools can be a problem lol, it’s possible to do it without some of them but it’s a lot easier with them. It’s possible you could find some used or something like that to save money.

    it’s so nice but i have a question, wouldn’t the wood like rot and get mites or something

    • @hodesigns
      @hodesigns  5 месяцев назад +1

      The wood on the inside is sealed with liquid rubber to protect it from water damage. The wood on the outside I probably should’ve sealed with polyurethane or something but it won’t be exposed to enough moisture to cause damage.

    Is the liquid rubber gonna be toxic for the geckos in anyway? Will the geckos also be able to stick to and climb the liquid rubber like they do on glass?

    • @hodesigns
      @hodesigns  5 месяцев назад +1

      Once cured the liquid rubber isn’t toxic for any animal. Also this was made with the intention of installing a background so no liquid rubber would be visible. And if there was I would think they’d be able to climb it.

    how do you know the liquid rubber is animal safe ?

    Great build especially for beginners like me but I thought it would be great if you started your videos with Hey Ho let's go. It's cheesy but thought also kinda cool lol 😂

      Thank you! Yeah that is kinda corny but I kinda like it, it gives me something that’s original to my channel yk. Maybe I could try it while editing and see, thanks for the suggestion!!

      That was my main inspiration, I had never built something like this before and that one seemed like the easiest option.
