    Randy you are so right on with this. I saw a video that Keith put out and it's really a shame that somebody tried to screw him by putting rocks in front of that little creek. I'm so glad he's still came off with a win. Stuff like this makes me not even want to fish the bass tournament because guys are such sore losers.

Kieth is the best thing that’s happened to bass fishing for a while. Lots of guys that felt they were getting priced out of the sport have new hope. Saved some guy about 75K on his next boat too!

    First off, Congratulations Keith Poche for taking this win and thank you Randy for your videos and your support of this style of fishing. I stopped fishing tournaments years ago but I can remember back in 1997 as a member of the Bucketmouth Bassmasters on Clarks Hill Lake, out of a 12 tournament year I won 8 of them out of a Tracker Pro 17 with a 40 Evinrude, I got angler of the year and big bass for that year. I went to our year end banquet and after they reluctantly presented me with my trophies and what I barely call accolades, I quit the club that night in front of everyone. The club was full of wannabe's that had bigger, faster, better boats but they couldn't catch a fish to save their lives, they couldn't stand me beating them using just raw talent and intuition.

    • @kmbbmj5857
      @kmbbmj5857 Год назад

      I don't claim to be very good myself, but I've fished with guys who easily have more basic talent than 80% of the pros out there. Pro bass fishing and tournaments are the worst thing that's happened to bass fishing. It's driven the small, basic boat companies out of the business and you're left with high and super high and ultra-high performance rigs. I've seen rigs where the electronics alone cost more than my boat. Heck I've even starting to see some kayak rigs hitting $7 to $10K, with most of that electronics.

As a co-angler I seen firsthand the use of forward-facing sonar and how it can affect the co-angler catch ratio. I have fished bass tournament for nearly 50 years and at this point in my life I am ready to throw in the towel as I could never afford the electronics of today. Now we have to deal with Aqua View. really. I am ready to start eating bass instead of releasing them. Just my thoughts.

    I'm 40. I started fishing about 9 months ago. I have basically been in a bubble about a lot of stuff due being so new to the sport. It has been an incredible journey so far. This type of thing blows my mind. I've been walking through spiderwebs, thorns, brush, mud, woods etc to find spots to fish every week for the last 9 months. No boat or electronics. Heck, I started on a 5ft 6 antique wonderod with a Mitchell 300 that I inherited, and caught all my fish on that setup for a while. I can't hardly believe that tournament rules are so restricted for accessing more tight spots. That would be my first move if I was to ever be on a big body of water. So weird. I'm just now learning of Poche, and I'm immediately a fan. Respect all the way.

    Years ago a fisherman in a BASS tournament wanted to get into an area that was blocked by a causeway and high water. He contacted Ranger Boats for advice. They told him to remove the windshields from the boat, pull the plug and fill it with water, drive under the causeway replace the plug and turn on the bilge. He won the tournament, I believe it was Shuffield, but I may be wrong.

By the way I wanted to let you know Randy me and my partner won the USA bass in Kansas regional state championship this year and we qualified for the national tournament on lake Pickwick next spring thanks for all your help and thanks for all the teaching you've done on the channel you've made me a better bass fisherman by far.

    Absolutely, right on point Randy. Everybody is trying to leap ahead of their competition by advancing the electronics and technology in their boats. So when a guy reverses that and uses his cunning and ingenuity, THEY are the ones who complain? NO WAY. I fished an Eastern Divisional on the Conn River in '90 from Hartford. I was the only boat out of the 200 or so that drove north, around shoals, wing dams, and shallow flats to fish 11 miles north on my Skeeter Starfire. A couple years later Roland did it with a jet outboard and guys got pissed. That's all a great part of fishing, the innovation and ingenuity. They may as well assign everyone the same lures, line, rods, and reels then, so the playing field is "even".

    One of my favorite stories was the one where you and I believe Ken Cook dug out the canal to access then had to line the boat up and run full bore.

    Couldn’t agree more. Love fishing the BFL tournaments as a non- boater. Probably done. I can see myself drawing a guy in March and he is in the mouth of a cove using live scope and I have almost no chance of catching a fish.

    These kind of things is why I got out of tournaments. There was so many times I saw blatant violations and they were dismissed due to some bs reason. Then when I broke down just outside of the no wake zone where weight in was I overheard a competitor yell if anyone helps me to get to weigh in in time they'd be disqualified. Then when I made it I had first place with all the penalties and that jerk still tried to disqualify me & protested. I left & never looked back.

    I remember when Roland Martin. Won a tournament. Because he had a jet boat. And no one else could get where he was. People threw a fit about that to. I agree 100% with randy.

    I agree 100% level the playing field. Fantastic Rant of the day, I agree livescope fishing isn’t real fishing. It’s more like catching. I just bought a new boat. I had them take that stuff all of it, I want to fish my way. I’m not much in video games. I’d rather go fishing my way and not catching theres.

    100% correct on this one Randy!! Seems some have forgotten what REAL bass fishing is! You should do a vid on all the Roland Rules , I’m sure people would be shocked how rules were changed just because Roland used to push the envelope!!!

    Hey Randy. It seems I remember about 30 or so ago years ago in a BASS tournament that one of the contestants took a chain saw to cut limbs and logs to get get back into an area to fish and no one complained about that. I think the Poulan chain saw sales went up after that.
