Sped as I teach my students, play with a strap even while seated…. No need to cross legs. Or, get one of those classical guitar foot rests or even a stack of books to raise your leg and again, no need to cross your legs.
I like to take the strain off my shoulder when I sit for obvious reasons. Also, I have a really good foot rest and it made little to no difference because I couldn’t get the right angle. It wasn’t the strap, this has fixed it!
This is fantastic as I’m looking at doing the same. I have an ikea top also and was wondering if I could do this. Could I ask how long your worktop is please. Also is there still plenty of room to keep the draws underneath still? Thanks
Yes you can! I have an ikea Alex under there on the outside of the leg. I can’t remember the exact dimensions but I think the top is called Karlby from Ikea. Kitchen counter top.
Great video Sped. in addition to that, I would love to see a video of what goes on the desk. computer/software/interface/monitor set up, that stuff. And what the modern guitar enthusiast should have in a proper desk set-up. That would be quite helpful. BTW, love the lessons, Fantastic! cheers
Thanks! I can easily do something like that. A kinda what’s on my desk video. You wouldn’t need everything I’ve got to get started but it’s easy to substitute for less expensive. 🔥
I'm with Michael T, I can listen to you talk about anything. I always used to sit with my right leg crossed over my left, often with my foot right up on my knee. Now I have painful arthritis developing in my right hip. It can't be old age 'cos my left hip is fine and I've had that one just as long (and I'm only 63). You remember when your parents/grandparent used to tell you to sit up straight? It was really annoying at the time, but what's more annoying is, 50 years later, realising they were f*****g right!
Yeah they were weren’t they! Basically now any time that I feel the need to cross my legs I’m gonna stand up. Genuinely a few days of really clamping down on the no crossing and the pain is subsiding. 🙌🏻
@@SpedSpedding I need a better posture for seated guitar playing too that isn't slumped over the guitar. Maybe a standing desk would be better for that as well. Actually that's an idea! A standing desk for the PC to watch your Led Zep videos and a full-length mirror alongside so I can turn and practice Jimmy poses at the same time. 😎
Cool set up, mate. 👍🏻 Gab is always a step ahead of you but eventually you catch up 🤗 enjoyed the Soleil, LaKesha Nugent soundtrack too 👂🏻👀 hadn’t heard that tune before. ☑️
So I'm watching my favorite female ax slinger ...all of a sudden I see Sped ripping on the bass. Zep tunes. My hats off 2 you for rocking the bass. Great guitar players like you, don't have to walk in the room and say look at me!
Yeah I get ya sped. Been making a lot of videos and do the whole cross the leg thing. Kills my knees and my back but I work at a homemade coffee table and a metal chair lol. I gotta check this out when I have money.
Yeah absolutely do, I am already more enthused about being at my desk. It's a whole different thing putting a brew down in the morning and working on your feat. I've been doing about 30 minutes of each. If they like the video and I ever get a discount code I will let you know!
@@SpedSpedding yeah and I mean Im not even 20 yet lol. I bet I mean it would add a whole knew excitement cause sometimes I’m like “yeah let’s play guitar” look at my desk “no let’s not set at my desk”. That would be great if be sure to use it!
I love the concept, but I have little faith that I would actually ever stand at said standing desk. I do like the thought of easy access to the shoveling-food-in-to-gob height tho.....hmmmm. I DO need ....something....for the sitting-too-long-since-pandemic-thing. My studio desk area is littered with the special cushions for sciatica and then more cushions for lumbar support, and then like three different armless height-adjustable rolly-chairs to which aformentioned cushions get afixed to. Nothing really helped, until, I dragged in to the house an old wine crate box that I thought would make for a good boot-stomp-box. I wasn't thinking sciatica or back stuff...just the boot-stompin....but all of a sudden, i was so much more comfortable with that extra height under at least one foot. So....now I have three of them surrounding my chair so that I have one in front on each side if I need to switch up where I'm facing with my chair. Rediculous is one word. I taught Ashtanga yoga for years and ran ultras, I'm not starting with a bad baseline back, but the extra sitting has trashed my back and hips. Next step might be the creepy slow motorized chair up the stairs thing....
I did Yoga for about a year also; let it slip. I have a nice mat which mainly gets used for workouts now. I needs to get back to it more, I am in the gym though to be fair; strength building. I really like the desk so far and I've been using it daily going up and down a couple times a day. In a lot less pain already. 🙌🏻
Dude, you’re only in your early 20s?! You seem much more mature and wise, like, say...a 37 year old. Your girlfriend looks younger though, maybe 29, 30. BTW, nice desk, love it!

Congrats on that desk. I got a sit/stand desk a few years ago and can’t live without it.
Thanks Johnny! Birthday money went towards it. Good investment. Plus Gab had one, can’t leave me out. 😂 already loving it.
@@SpedSpedding yeah you can’t let her 1 up you. No way. 😂
It's Sped's sense of humour that makes him so watchable (also great lessons) 🤘🏼 Can we get a vid on your hair care routine? Fabulous head of hair 🔥
Might run this by a few of the companies I use in terms of products, see if we can do a sponsored giveaway! 💅🏻

Just what I need in these troubling times, a vid by sped on his new high tech desk! Good on ya dude
You can now hide underneath it so I guess it's still relevant...

Sweet deal! Very informative video. Thanks Sped.

Yeah it’s cool. Thought I’d use that song, the up and down lyrics seemed like a good fit. Don’t know why? 😂
Sped, I am happy to see you get that desk. I told you its not good when you get numb from sitting.
Yeah you did. It's only been with me for 2 days and I'm already getting less pins and needles and my knees ache less.
Now you can teach, play and perform tunes standing up. Which will come in handy when you start to gig again! 👍✌

Thank you from the USA for your honest review. One question; did your desk wobble or shake when in the standing position?
I put a massive top on it and it’s on carpet. There’s a little bit of play but it’s totally stable. 💪🏻💪🏻
@@SpedSpedding Thank you for responding! Continue to be awesome 🥰
If you didn’t already have the ikea top would you still have bought one separately? Great video thanks
I’d have just bought the ones they do. I do like a massive desk though. 🤣

Standing would be new for me i think I’d like it tho. I mean I only stand when I perform but not when I record or practice.
Where did you find those speaker stands? I really dig them.
I made the desk myself with different components from IKEA.
Nice tats 👍

Length: 246 cm
Depth: 63.5 cm

How about a series called "tread mill riffs"? Haha. That would be hilarious. Exercising while jamming.
