When I was a high school student, my school teacher recommended us a pianist called Jacques Loussier who does jazz arrangement of Bach's music and I listened to his albums many times at the time. I think people love unexpected arrangement of classical music :)
They do seem to, yes! I hadn't heard of Loussier until a viewer made the connection in a comment a while back and, since then, a few folks have referenced this player. I've never been much for arrangements of classical music, however, I can't resist making them myself. It's kind of like how I am with shorts, I can't stand watching them, but I love making them.
Applause! Applause! Applause! unbelievable! superhuman performance! and jazzy! And thanks for the link to the original. I can't decide which one is better: this one or 'I swung a Bach Invention (with hands switched!) Invention No. 14 in B-flat major, BWV 785'
Ahh.. The incredible Johann, with his divine way of composing, is the quality foundations for all the musical styles and genres that followed, and the extraordinarily talented and imaginative Penny, worthy of Mr. B, performed a perfect jazzy version of the complex and beautiful prelude and, as always, afforded pleasure and delight 🎵🎹❤️🎶
Очень круто, я бы даже сказал вкусно. Привет Пенни, отличная техника и чувство ритма, это не просто. Любой Jazz band должен оценить такое видео. Мне очень понравилось. Спасибо.
Thank you, Volodia! I filmed this yesterday and had been absolutely obsessed with it for a few days, though it came upon me quite suddenly and spontaneously, as is often the case with these arrangements.💙🥁
Love this arrangement. Hints of Bernstein (more than hints if I'm honest), and really sweet timing between certain phrases: as though a mistake has been made, but, actually, a glorious surprise.
Maravilloso! Cuando era niño, solía hacer algo parecido con esta pieza: Bourrée from Suite in E minor (BWV 996) Sentía que al alterar los tiempos estaba tocando jazz! hahahahaha saludos
Thank you! Yes, it can sometimes be irresistible to deviate from the page, only to find that when we circle back to the original, we are all the better off for it. Or so I've found!☺🎹
I love the look of relief after the ending! Don't see you do that often. heehee Jazz is taxing! What's up with the Roman candle next to the music rack? :)
Thank you! I always like to have a candle for my performance videos. It's not any particular kind of candle, just something to contribute (hopefully) to a comfortable vibe.

Bach can stand almost any treatment: Solid and clear Harmony, good voice leading. Nothing can go wrong when these two parameters are there. Here is a piece based on a playfull treatment of the no.1 Prelude in C from the 48: studio.ruclips.net/user/videoQv-hFAVM46s
Yours is very interesting as well. There are some great harmonic moments. You appear to be quite young to take Bach into such realms. Do be careful not to hijack comment threads, but I excuse you this time based on your successful achievement and its relevance to Penny's product.

Thank you! I'm not passionate about Handel's music. I hope that I can touch upon some of Handel's music, occasionally, in order to make comparisons with Bach.

May be controversial, but the original (i.e. what’s in the score) is the most lit, no matter how intricate the arrangements or impressive the performances. Would be a good performance idea to play Bach orig and your version back to back. Keep up! P.S. seen your recording of original after posting, sorry for that!
@@markshilov7067 Thank you for the feedback, Mark! As I’ve said before, these spin-off arrangements of Bach’s music are never intended to improve upon the original. Rather, these extra “versions” if you will, are the product of detailed practice, of taking the music apart, trying new things. I’m not actually interested in the concept of arranging these pieces per se, but ideas come as I’m modifying a rhythm or singing an inner voice. Of course, I have done more of it in the past few years since trying to grow my channel as it seems to well, often better than my performances of the originals, unfortunately. So it’s a bit of desperation to have and maintain a music career in this day and age, but mostly just being incredibly picky and detailed with my practicing.🎹
