Y'all know this is just my opinion, right? What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh? Видеоклипы
I'm from El Paso Tx and I saw Cedric at a bar one time downtown and he said hi to me because I was staring at him... ._.
Oscar Saucedo I'm from EP too, what bar did you see him at? :o
+Joshua MacGregor He actually always response to me in instagram, but then I tend ask he really well thought out esoteric questions that probably make him interested on them. I purchased one his badass tee shirts he designed & posted a pic of me wearing it & taged him Cedric actually commented back & reposted it on his instagram. He seems very humble & communicative in his moments, but when he's on tour & I try to talk to him he's kind of a dick.
I mentioned him being a Scientologist on Twitter and he blocked me, lol.
KING NASTY I’m pretty sure his wife used to be apart of the church but no longer is. Cedric never had anything to do with them as far as I’m aware
@@greyetch his wife was raped by a scientologist bro. he probably thought you were trolling.

theneedledrop Please review the new Travis Scott mixtape
theneedledrop pallbearer? pretty please.
Antemasque is performing in Toronto and am thinking about going but really don't know what to expect, I havem't seen them tour since The Mars Volta
@@pendukes did they drop something new???
For anyone wondering about the religious themes, Cedric commented on this at the first live show in San Antonio that he was at. He mentioned that he's not a Christian, and that "the Bible is the truth" is a phrase that was written on the side of a cliff in El Paso he used to pass by as a young man and it was inspired by that time in his life, not a religious conversion of any kind. I think religion just fascinates Cedric in general in his lyrics though. Amputechture had many themes involving Catholicism as well.
that's correct. in fact, just off sunset heights near downtown el paso, you can see these words scrawled on a mountain as clear as day. the words originally say "la biblia es la verdad leela." growing up in el paso, these words hold more cultural significance than religious, especially growing up knowing how violently torn juarez has always been.
l
It's on a mountain in juarez u can clearly see in el paso downtown sunset heights utep area
If you listen to this record expecting a Mars Volta record you´ll be disappointed. Why? ... because it´s not a fuckin Mars Volta record !!!!
This is Omar & Cedric getting together for just a short period of time, not overthinking stuff, just playing and going with their instinct and revisiting their early At The Drive-In punk influences but mixed with some other stuff, kinda like a follow up to the 2009 Cryptomnesia record by El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez Lopez where Cedric also sang on all the record.
I think it´s a really solid record, an ANTEMASQUE record, not a Mars Volta or ATDI record, it´s simplistic because that´s how they wanted it to be.
By the way I saw them live last week in San Francisco and it was a killer show, I heard they´re going to tour Europe now, if anyone reading this has a chance to go see them live, I suggest you do, it´s a killer, very energetic live show with a little improv/jamming on Providence which is my favorite song on the record along with 4 am.
Police brutality is never okay. Great review Anthony!
Thank you v much for that beginning
NoPizzaProductions thank you for being you.

Hello Anthony. My name is Anthony. I am from coughcoughmissouricoughcough. And I love you.
taylorlongboard My name is Anthony too! But I'm not from Missouri...
***** That's just too crazy for me to even comprehend...
What were they even saying in the first 10 seconds of this video, anyway?
Please review Bosnian Rainbows or some of the bi- weekly Omar solo releases.
I really like the fact that you took the time to review this album. Mars Volta is my all-time favorite band and I think you review is spot on. A really good, straight-forward record that leaves you wanting more of this project. I can't wait to see what these guys will put out next. I saw them on tour and it was really good, raw energy (as you would expect of Omar and Cedric)
I've been patiently anticipating this video
Paul Hardman yay
theneedledrop You should check out Wussy's album Attica. It's an album I believe you would like (can't guarantee it, but think you would). It's certainly an album that deserves attention.
Ed Silver d'antonio already reviewed it
Thom Yorke Really? I couldn't find it before or now...Suggestions?
Ed Silver nvm i'm not good at english
thanks for reviewing ANTEMASQUE Anthony!! I'm a big Mars Volta fan, appreciate the positive vibes in the review! Hope the boys keep pumping out the good stuff well into the future. The Needle Drop? Forever.
3rd line has 3 letters half life 3 confirmed
Cedric and omar are LEGENDS
I enjoyed this record. I love the Omar/Cedric duo. My favourite project of theirs will always be The Mars Volta. But this definitely doesn't disappoint.
As i liked Bosnian Rainbows, not having Cedric felt like he was missed. His vocals and lyrics are much better.
You should review The Mars Volta’s classics, Deloused in the Comatorium and Frances the Mute. It’d be awesome if you did all their albums, but at least those 2 essential albums
Dear anthony,
I am dwelling in sadness as of this moment. Not only did you not review nor mention the new Antwon album 'Heavy Hearted in Doldrums' on your channel, you didn't even mention it in your YUNOReview section. That was all I asketh for. Worst of all you ignored my comment, coldblooded as you are.
Now, to make up for it, why not do me a favor and also do a video on Young Thug? I think he's been buzzing enough to justify a single review, dontcha?
Yours truly, morose and lugubrious

Anthony, you have never reviewed any of Omar's solo albums, right? Bout time my friend! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on albums like Azul, Mis Dientes or Solid State Mercenaries (or any of them)
i listened to this album and have enjoyed it. its cool and fun.
yes, this is how i review music.
Review the new Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) album You Will Eventually Be Forgotten! Or are you afraid you are gonna cry?
He should! It's really really good.
Fantastic review as always sir
Appreciated what you did in the intro
Bout time you reviewed this Fandango, good review!!
donthony shootano
i didn't like rome armed to the teeth as a closer also or in general really cared for it. Though i did like that part on people forget! One of my favorite parts in the album! "Don’t count me out, now
Baby, count me out now"
Favorite songs "moment mori" and "i got no remorse"
great vocal trasitions on moment mori followed by simplistic guitar with fast paced running drums.
I got no remorse just hits so hard and has really great harmony between everyone on this song.
8/10
plus i saw them live, the songs sounded a million times better!
i know i'm FOUR YEARS late to this video, but i just wanna throw out there anything that omar and cedric do, together or apart, is just fine with me. of course i always want more at the drive in or the mars volta but that's just not gonna happen (or it is gonna happen. you really never know when they'll decide to go back to an older band) but 99% of what these guys do is something i love. they are, in my completely uninformed musical opinion, GENIUSES when it comes to making music. omar gets a little crazy pumping out just an insane amount of new material, but it's almost always stuff i end up enjoying. i'm sure i'm going in to his stuff with my fan goggles on and have already decided i like it before even hearing it, but still. these guys are amazing and i hope they continue to put out music together, and apart, for decades to come.
I agree with the 7. Can't wait to hear more, glad they settled their differences and got back together.
Looking For A Review Of Travi$ Scott's Days Before Rodeo
Hey Anthony, I was wondering if you have heard about Spark Master Tape? I'm just really curious about your opinion.
Ah, finally. Been waiting to hear your opinion on this one.
I'm glad to see you and Cal taking a stand.
Didn't realize Cedric was anti-mask.
Also, any plans on a psychedelic albums week?
Thank you. You are back in my circle of trust.
Are you gonna do a track review of sleeps the clarity, or is it too late?
Frances The Mute Classic Review?
Fanthony antano, I need your opinion on watsky: all you can do
as for the album, i often felt as though the mars volta became very bloated and pretentious over the latter half of their career, every album sounding more like an exercise in musical masturbation. with antemasque, i felt as though omar came back to his indie, pop and punk sensibilities and just produced a simple yet powerful album as a result. it's a simple albumj, though it carries a very strong punch. i personally loved it. 9/10.
I felt about the same as you. The record was really solid but it could have been better. As much as I love the song Providence, I have a hard time getting into Cedric's vocals during the verses. Overall, I'm glad this record was made and I'll have a good time listening to it years from now.
I listened to the album and thought it was ok. I put it on the back burner for a while. It was so damn catchy that I was hearing it in my sleep and it stayed in my head all damn day. As much as I tried to avoid liking it, it subliminal nestled it's way into my head. Now I find myself singing the damn songs. Needles to say I really enjoy it now.
I'm liking that NMH record in the back.
a reasonable review! just FYI the album hasn't actually been properly released yet. they withdrew it and are talking to a record label about a fall release. theres also a chance that some of the music will be different. the live shows have two new songs.
I did not care too much for the album but that is just me. It just did not resonate with me. I tried listening multiple times and still didn't do it for me. I would like to see them live before I make my final judgment.
There are songs I like on it just something that leaves me wanting.
Love this album, great review as well. I disagree with your statement of the weaker songs being on the latter half, as I believe that's where the album really shines. However, it was a very solid review, I give it a strong seven to a light eight.
Glad you liked this album. You should see them live if you get a chance. They are amazing
Not if their music is just mediocre.
You're criticism of that riff from People Forget is nuts. That's the catchiest riff on the album
This release is very straight forward and addictive. I agree with the zeppelin comparison and it's not like previous works. I'm actually very happy for the meat & potatoes approach (though it has its complexity). Familiar's that have followed them in the past know what they're capable and have delivered. I think they're getting back to having fun and enjoying the music. In a nutshell. Enjoy most of your reviews sometimes.
The new Opeth album is available to stream if you wish to check it out
Fantano said on his review of "Heritage" that he doesn't like the band so I doubt he'll check it out.
Initially read this as "the new Oprah album"
Opeth is poop now. They died after making Watershit.
I think it's more simplistic and maybe accessible to possibly reach a larger audience whereas TMV is more a showcase of skill and creativity and imagination. Omar wrote all of the arrangements for TMV and has since taken a different approach since the break up. Now other band members have creative control so that also contributed to the change in the sound overall. This is a good thing because his control over every sound partially led to the friction and ultimately the breakdown of the band.
And you should review RX Bandits' new album Gemini, Her Majesty
Hey Anthony are you going to review the Electric Wurms album?
rockthony lobstano
Antemasque is the prelude to the newest "At the Drive-in" reunion album.
Successful and 3-4 LP overdue TMV rebranding, haven't given a damn since the lead up to Amputechure. Hope it's a one-off, as Bosnian Rainbows and the OMRL solo material is so good.
I know you showed LZI because you were comparing Cedric to Robert (which makes sense) but the album appeared as you were saying “screamo and post-hardcore” and I was so confused 😂
You should review the new Secret Band full length next!
Omagad Onthany Fano are you as EXCITED as I am?!!
My Classics Week Wish List: "It Takes a Nation of Millions...", "Saxophone Colossus", "Discovery (Daft Punk)", "Z", and any Dylan record.
Anthony where do you get your t-shirts?
Thanks for speaking out on an important issue, Fantano.
I think it'd be awesome to see you review the new empire empire I was a lonely estate. But mostly likely it'll be in this months yunoreview if even that.
This album is pretty sweet. I used to dislike it but now I appreciate it for it's pungent, trippy simplicity.
Review something that you feel is truly on the peak of an original sound, or a sound that has been modified into some level of ogreness where it's just so full of flavor that the rulebook just went out the window, but it's the most stimulating experience you personally have had musically. Go extreme and gush with the thrill of a tremendous roller coaster ride.
ANTHONY! What would you give Portugal. The Man's record "Evil Friends"? You never reviewed it last year and I am curious to see what you thought! It ended up in my top five albums of 2013.
Reviewin' Moly/Poly - Golden Skies when it comes out?
Stay kawaii fantano.
cuRlCE *hugs*
Good review. To me it feels like they're just doing this project for fun. Maybe they'll make something more solid or bring back TMV.
"Crunchy riffs", "Raw sound", "Punchy drums". Am I Anthony Fantano now?
Oh, I love it. The straight-forward-thing fits them pretty much right.
the blue on the avery island cover is Moving.
Holy shit you're right
Really good record. BTW, Blonde Redhead have released a number of some peculiar singles from their forthcoming studio LP lately, you might look towards them.
The new Slipknot single The Negative One is also awesome, not quite sure if you're into them, but, however, it would be great if you review it
Are you gonna make a video stating how you feel about the whole Ferguson thing Anthony?
A 7/10 is exactly what it deserves. A good, straight-forward, raw and highly energetic rock album. This is what we need more of! It seems all of my favorite bands have sold their guitars and bought turntables (to reference LCD Soundsystem). It's not that I don't like their music anymore, I just miss the raw, aggressive sound of electric guitars backed by heavy drums. My only issues with this album is that it's too short and I can't stand 50,000 Kilowatts. People Forget & Hanging In The Lurch are my favorite tracks. I'm looking forward to Death From Above 1979's new LP.
Just like Octahedron got 7/10. It was a calm experimental piece of art. doesn't get the credit it deserves.
Octahedron was a subtle masterpiece & perfect companion to The Bedlam in Goliath.
Does anyone know how to get the album when you've gotten the pre-release stuff?
I know I've requested this already, but I hope you give He is Legend's new lp "Heavy Fruit" a listen. Would love to hear your take on it. They've changed their sound quite a bit over the years and are pretty far from their old post-hardcore style and have moved to a much more sludgey, stoner rock sound. Hopefully you'll dig it as much as I do.
nice In Avery Island you've got there Anthony! :)
What score would you give to relationship of command?
Who would have guessed that Althony Rightano is a fan of anti-maskers, smh
Cool, thought you forgot. There's probably gonna be a new bosnian album all in spanish (gonna want to see you review that ha) than a new antemasque thing, cause this felt like a bunch of great songs put together than an album. Keep up the good wok.
flea was also there!! maybe a review of the new album of dot hacker?
The Bug - Angels & Devils (when it comes out of course)
good jab!
chowt3809 thinks!
Did you know FLEA plays trumpet on a song in Frances The Mute? its crazy i just found out
Thank you.
"he's kind of like a post-hardcore robert plant" ...i never realised this, but that is so on point.
theneedledrop great review Manthony Brotano! ....any chance of a 'Kimbra - The Golden Echo' review in the works? :D
R.I.P. Mike Brown
Last point, let's remember that this band had to record its first ep (vaya) and full length (in/casino/out) live to make their records shine... Intensity is what made these guys good and I agree with you Fantano, it doesn't come through on this record.
Dave Elitch (ee-litch) is a permanent member.
at the drive in are making a new album and are you going to review it
+Myron Drozd We dont know for sure.
Statik Selektah - What goes around comes around
Great review. You should do Blacc Hollywood next.
I like how they change it up whenever they want. I understand it. If you feel something become stale, recreate yourself as an artist.
What is he referring to at 5:48 ? (I know it's not Darude - Sandstorm)
Hey Antony ! How are you? What is your favorite emo album or emo band??
He'd probably say American Football.
oh hi mark
Lantlôs's album MELTING SUN. For the love of Pop Tarts, please review it!
People Forget is actually my fav song on the album.
would you do a review of any of The Fall of Troy albums please?
I liked this release. Saw them play a few weeks ago and the energy was good. Cedric was on point and Omar didn't hold any punches either providence went on for 20 mins or so. And yeah that song definitely has a zeppelin quality but not as much 50,000 kilowatts has a meatloaf quality.
OH MY GOD
ABOUT TIME YOU FUCKING
melon
THANK YOU FOR FINALLY REVIEWING THIS
While I disagree with some of your points, like some of the songs being 'samey', and I really like People Forget, much respect for finally doing this review. I begged you more than once, and you delivered B-) I strongly agree with your finally score.
This album doesn't break any molds, but it does what it does extremely well, its very catchy, and I think it will be a nice stepping stone in their overall catalog to get newer listeners into their deeper cuts as The Mars Volta.
I just saw them perform it live in El Paso, TX (their home town btw) and they knocked it out of the park. One of the great rock bands of today.
Slimthony Slimtano. Great review. Woop. Woop.
Review Opeth's Pale Communion next!
