So excited that it is finally released!! Been watching the store day after day to see it be released! As a detailer moving from the DIYer to starting a business and needing professional products, your products have been checking ALL the boxes, at almost every turn I find myself going for your products to get the job done!
Thank you Ivan. As a DIYer, I learned so much from you today. I still have some flat pads, a few waffle pads, a MF and a wool pad. I didn't realize that there was so much of a difference in pads. And I keep them all clean.
Yvan, if you see this message, know that I really like learning from you. I've learn tons from kevin brown and larry kosilla and others but your way of presenting things is just simply beautiful. I would always like to meet you some day and detail alongside you and learn from you. Much Love.
I‘m so glad you explained the part that it is „safe“ for plastics as I know from hundreds of conversations in forums / groups that people will misunderstand it. The same happened with Sonax polishes in Germany based on a RUclips video by a larger channel which explained it wrong. A polish is a polish, and if there are abrasives in it, it WILL have the potential to damage structured plastics. I had the chance to try The gold standard polish. I must've been half asleep and thought I ordered 5.5" pads, but received 3". That's ok! They'll work well with My Adam's Mini Swirl killer. I went through three spray triggers to get it to work. I had a 1999 Black Mazda Miata that was trashed. I tried a small section on the top of the drivers side fender. It looked really nice! I just Ordered! 👊💪 Was running low on my Polishes and Compounds . Was squeezing every last drop on my bottles until this was released. Excited to use and try the pads and Polish! I’m a waffle pad advocate myself that’s all I use. I like how your pads are not super thin like the cool waves and not as this as the LC Waffle pads which were annoying and didn’t have the best Velcro on those. This gold standard is exactly in the middle which I wanted for years!!! 🙏
Awesome podcast guys! Again your education of your products is detailed and well explained. Just put my order in for the launch kit and a couple of 3.5" pads. I cannot wait to get my package.
Yvan converted me to finishing with a rotary and soft waffle pads a few months ago. Looking forward to the potential for light cutting and finishing with your system. Congratulations and best of luck with your newest release.

So I got my Gold Standard Polish. Used it today. I’m not ready to call it the best hybrid polish… 3D One and Sonax Perfect Finish are a little better and I still use Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic polish more than anything….HOWEVER…this Gold Standard Polish is by far the greatest smelling polish I’ve ever used. The spray attachment is also a plus. I may use it more just because of the smell😂!
Guess i'll be doing my first polishing video soon. Need to get my test hood dialed in for more detailed test results. Just picked up a kit. I think the bottle being a sprayer will give more confidence to those new to polishing or intimidated by it.
Guys I ordered both kits to try incredible suds and WOW, let me thank you for adding more than 16 onz in the bottle, both have more than 16 I can tell for the weight, didn't want to measure because every drop counts
Congratulations guys! I have 6-8 months of inventory of my current polish to use up and then I can't wait to stock up on the DIY polish. Love the sprayable feature and that it's non-dusting.
very informative...thanks. So on trim, in a separate vid Yvan recommended NOT coating older trim because the trim will continue to oxidize under the coating. If you polish the trim which removes the oxidation as stated in this vid, is it then acceptable to coat? Thanks
@@diydetailofficial oh I feel it more and more every day but when Yvan said that at the very end it made me chuckle. Love the two of you’s dynamics and seeing you work together. Every video you two do I just try to soak up the knowledge and wisdom
I’m excited to try this. I’m hoping this is the perfect product for piano black plastic. The rear deck panel on my GT350 is so sensitive and prone to scratches. It’s even more prone to a hazy finish when i polish it out. The fact that it’s a non dusting product excites me even more.
Got to use the system today. Used with the 3401 and 15mm cordless. I like the pads, makes for a nice user experience. Combo did well on medium to soft paint, but I would expect much correction on hard paint. Finish was very nice. Polish is definitely oily upon wipe off. Takes a bit of elbow grease, but didn’t stick to the paint. Maybe the thicker oils provide lubrication when buffing off? Definitely need to use a panel wipe after buffing off, IMO. Only used the system one time. Looking forward to using it again! I’m liking the DIY Detail line!
Yes decontaminate first before polishing. You can wash off and dry and then polish. No need to use panel prep before polishing but you can if you’d like
Seriously guys! I’m really impressed with you line of products! I want a line of products I can use on my car that is made by the same company! I’m a firm believer in using one brand product that is designed to interact with each other without any problems. Your product seem to work wonderfully together 👍
Hello! I am currently using P&S Iron buster. The directions say to let the product dwell for a few minutes. Does your iron remover not require dwell time? I ask, because on this video you are suggesting to use the iron remover as a lubricant with the clay towel…ie: spraying it onto the towel and on to the section of paint and then wiping immediately.. Also, i see that your iron remover is $20 more per gallon than P&S, however I’m assuming that I’m saving money by not having to use a seperate clay towel lubricant. Is this correct?
Your very correct, buy using DIY Detail Iron Remover as your clay lube your getting a deeper cleaning, using on average only 1oz to decontaminate a vehicle, saving time, and not requiring another product.
Applying compound to a pad in dots and then touching the pad down in numerous areas on the panel, ensures distribution of abrasives. Wouldnt your method of spraying the pad, reduce the effectives of those diminishing abrasives by the time you got to the furthest points in your 2ft by 2ft (for example) working area on the panel?
Would I be able to use this in 100-degree weather outside in the shade? Is that even possible without having the polish dry out too quickly? Thank you,
Do you recommend using your rinseless wash on a microfiber towel to remove the polish or just use a panel prep to remove the polish before applying a coating?
Both are great methods, or you can use a nice microfiber towel to remove the polish and THEN use a separate towel with panel prep sprayed on it for the final wipe down
I'm going to take the dive and try this system out. I have a light polish and ceramic coating scheduled for a brand new Honda CR-V. How many pads would you recommend? I typically blow out my pads after every pass with a Tornador and swap out every two panels or so, but would it be reasonable to use two pads if I wash them out and dry them every panel or so?
First off, compressed air is a very effective way of shortening the life of your pads. Use a pad washer or Rinseless wash( if your detailing for a living, you need the lake country pad washer) to clean your pads. A damp pad works better, runs cooler and lasts longer.
How many pads would I have to use for a Chevy Silverado 1500 in your opinion? And if I don’t have a lake country pad washer what other options would I have to clean pads? Thank you
Yes, of course not in extreme situations. For a topper we have DIY Detail Quick Beads, DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss, and of course DIY Detail Ceramic Coating.
After you're done polishing paint, right away. For sure with a coating (and to be safe, before applying a sealant or wax) we recommend using Panel Prep after polishing but BEFORE your last step protection product: diydetail.com/collections/best-sellers/products/gold-standard-polish?variant=42335784403102
Do you change speeds with the waffle pads, might be worth having a discussion on finishing vs cutting vs speed for those that haven't worked with waffles
Speed remains the same for any pad, with a rotary the lowest it will go, for a free spinning DA just enough to obtain backing plate rotation. The goal is to NOT CREATE HEAT.
@@diydetailofficial I just coated my car a couple of days ago and just saw some high spots. I am wondering if I were to use this product would I be able to remove the high spot without harming the coat.
@@diydetailofficial I think Aaron means can you use the polish on top of an already ceramic coated vehicle to revive it? The answer is NO. This or any good polish will remove the ceramic coating. Can you use it to prep for ceramic coating? The answer is YES, because this polish does not have any fillers.
@@diydetailofficial wow, interesting. I stand corrected. I would personally still be wary of using a polish with abrasives on a ceramic coating, as it will remove some. If I have a pro 3-5 year costing, I would get less and less life the more times I polish it. But my main sticking point is that it seems unnecessary to polish over the costing, since a normal spring wash process + topper will also refresh the ceramic coating with less risk. If this polish is more of a prep/cleaner polish with no abrasives, then I could feel more comfortable about using it over a coating. But it would still seem like a lot effort compared to a full wash process.
Your not old, just experienced. We don’t have a spray wax, but our DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss lasts 6-12 months. The product in this video is a pure polish only, no protection.
Hey I just got gifted my first polisher, I received the 6" G21 Boss from Griots Garage. I am using it at work using it on Gelcoat. Im going to 2 step my 16 Gmc Black Sierra in the summer and coat it. Theres only light scratches, Im getting in practice before I do my truck. Im waiting for your wool pad to come out and am ordering your polish kit now. Love your guys videos and been collecting your guys products since day 1 so I appreciate you guys! My question is should I use the wool pad on the Da and follow that up with a rotery using the foam gold pad and polish? Also can I use your polish and the wool to get out the light scratches with the da? Thanks in advance..
I have never machine polished before. I have a small RO polisher that was given to me as a gift...the kind that comes with a couple of bonnets. Can I use this polisher with your Gold Standard waffle pads and The Gold Standard Polish? I have a white 15 yr old daily driver that is in dire need of decontamination and polishing.
No I'm not excited, just letting you know I stayed until the end. I am not a hater just a consumer who wants me and my fellow detailer to be treated fairly. I hope you all have a good day. MAD RESPECT FROM EAST LONG BEACH 💯
I’m sure it’s no different from any other spray form chemical, but are there any health risks to having the polish itemize finely in enclosed spaces? Thanks!
It’s as aggressive as your pad. So with our yellow waffle pad it can remove minor defects and leave a brilliant finish. With wool pad on harder paint it can both cut defects and finish incredibly well. It’s pretty awesome :)
The yellow pad has a bit of cut. If you are not looking for maximum gloss enhancement, with minimal correction, our Red Jeweling pad May fit your needs.
Can a 5 inch polisher do a whole car or do we need another polisher for smaller lips, tighter areas, etc? Can we do small areas by hand with a microfiber? I want to try polishing and ceramic coat on my own but don't know if I need to buy 2 different polishers.
Hey Guys… great videos again! I was wondering with The Gold Standard Spray Polish of how many cross hatch passes are recommended??and if a 2X2 working area is good??
Two questions. 1}How does Gold Standard Polish compare to McKee's Spray Correcting Polish? 2) Which abrasive technology is use in GSP, DAT, SMAT, etc.?
Hopefully very soon! Please ask your favorite distributor/retail company to carry us, by name. That certainly helps us as we continue talks with a few companies in the UK. Thanks!

Speed remains the same for any pad, with a rotary the lowest it will go, for a free spinning DA just enough to obtain backing plate rotation. The goal is to NOT CREATE HEAT.
Is this the compound Ivan used to remove the high spot with a microfiber towel?
Yes
@@diydetailofficial I just coated my car a couple of days ago and just saw some high spots. I am wondering if I were to use this product would I be able to remove the high spot without harming the coat.
Yes, take it easy and check your progress often.
Can you use this for ceramic coated vehicles? To lightly clean an bring back hydrophobic properties without reapplying a ceramic coating?
Absolutely
@@diydetailofficial I think Aaron means can you use the polish on top of an already ceramic coated vehicle to revive it? The answer is NO. This or any good polish will remove the ceramic coating. Can you use it to prep for ceramic coating? The answer is YES, because this polish does not have any fillers.
Armando, actually yes you can do both with this , and many polishes. A very light pass will clean without removing the coating.
Can i use this on chrome trim on doors or windows?
Yes
Hi my name joe been detailing for over 50 years yes i am old lol how long does your spray wax last
Your not old, just experienced.
The foam and DA should be able to get out light scratches.
Yes, that will work.
No I'm not excited, just letting you know I stayed until the end. I am not a hater just a consumer who wants me and my fellow detailer to be treated fairly. I hope you all have a good day. MAD RESPECT FROM EAST LONG BEACH 💯
Thanks Steve
Do you ship to NZ...Thanks
No, we're available in Australia through Car Care Co., however
I’m sure it’s no different from any other spray form chemical, but are there any health risks to having the polish itemize finely in enclosed spaces? Thanks!
No, the atomization is not a fine mist, more like many drops.
@@diydetailofficial thank you!
Thank you for the questions
How does someone know when the polish is done working?
When it starts drying on the surface
@diydetailofficial thank you
Hi, is this polish agresive? Im looking for a product that doesn’t shave my clearcoat too much I just have minor swirls
It’s as aggressive as your pad. So with our yellow waffle pad it can remove minor defects and leave a brilliant finish. With wool pad on harder paint it can both cut defects and finish incredibly well. It’s pretty awesome :)
@@diydetailofficial so I should get the yellow pad? The defects are very light due to an appropriate wash techniques
The yellow pad has a bit of cut. If you are not looking for maximum gloss enhancement, with minimal correction, our Red Jeweling pad May fit your needs.
Will you be releasing a heavy cut in the future?
The polish is pad dependent, and so for heavy cutting we will be releasing a wool pad in the very near future! Probably in the next 3-5 weeks
We will be releasing a heavy cut pad to go with the polish.
When is this system going to be available to buy?
Tomorrow!
is this only for non ceramic coated cars?
Yes, you do not want an abrasive on a coated car.
Can a 5 inch polisher do a whole car or do we need another polisher for smaller lips, tighter areas, etc? Can we do small areas by hand with a microfiber? I want to try polishing and ceramic coat on my own but don't know if I need to buy 2 different polishers.
5 inch will get to most areas.
its a stupid question, but can you use the polish by hand?
Not a stupid question, yes you can.
When does it release ?
It’s out now! Check the website: diydetail.com/products/gold-standard-launch-kit
I tried to order but they don't deliver to Puerto Rico
We have a distributor in Puerto Rico
facebook.com/jfdetailingsupply?mibextid=LQQJ4d
Yes, but on the page the distributor in Puerto Rico publishes that the product is out of stock.
Is the gold standard polish system safe to use on PPF?
Yes, just use standard precautions
I really wanna try the gold standard system
You should!
How long should the 1 stage Vs 2 stage take on average per car? Thanks
The double
Finally! :)
Agreed
Hey Guys… great videos again! I was wondering with The Gold Standard Spray Polish of how many cross hatch passes are recommended??and if a 2X2 working area is good??
3-5 passes, and yes work a size area that’s comfortable for you.
It's great the polish doesn't fill but you guys should think about a filling glaze.
Stay tuned!
@@diydetailofficial HOORAY!!!
How do you purchase the gold standard from Australia? Is there any access outside the USA? Thanks.
CarCareCo.com.au has the full DIY Detail line on the way
@@diydetailofficial fantastic, thanks. looking forward to it!
Let's go
Thank you.
Two questions. 1}How does Gold Standard Polish compare to McKee's Spray Correcting Polish? 2) Which abrasive technology is use in GSP, DAT, SMAT, etc.?
We haven’t done a side by side comparison. DAT
So want DIY Detail products in the UK 😫
Hopefully very soon! Please ask your favorite distributor/retail company to carry us, by name. That certainly helps us as we continue talks with a few companies in the UK. Thanks!
@@diydetailofficial have done and will continue to do so!
Oooooo I want that!!!
Get it lol
Yvan’s tired of working for “the man”.
He’s mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore! 🤣
lol
Spray polish eliminates that unnecessary pad prep spray sold by so many vendors.
True
Have you planning to sell products in India and test it
Not yet , please ask your favourite distributor for DIY Detail.
@@diydetailofficial okay because India need to have these products which work in synergy which makes detailing art fun, efficient, effective & profitable but need to be tested first here because it has the all types of condition temperature difference, dust, pollution, wrong cleaning method
This makes me want to get one ☝️ of every product you have! I’m getting ready to purchase a new car and I think I want to get one ☝️ brand product to do everything on my new car! You guys are the best at describing how everything works! Thank you for sharing your passion ☝️👏
You got it man! We would be grateful for your business that’s for sure😊 what car?
@@diydetailofficial I’m not sure yet! It’s hard to decide ☝️😳
How would this pan out on a severely defected car?
The cut is pad adjustable, so you can increase the cut with a more agressive pad if you want.
Sold
Enjoy!!!
👍
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Chemical Guys won’t like this. Now they can’t sell their silly foam pad prep solution.😂
Lol, not sure they like most of what we do.
@@diydetailofficial yeah, their focus is sales first, detailing second. You guys and a few others in the industry have it flipped for the better.
Thank you
I don't trust anyone who told me for YEARS that three pea size drops n my pad was the thing to do, now that he is selling something different there's a new and better way. I know I'm a detailer but I'm not stupid, everything I do is pad and speed dependent. Please tell me now when you are going to change your story again. I do not trust you anymore,!!!!
Try our system, many people have and love it :) check the DIY Detail Facebook group and ask about this polishing system in the group or search for previous posts. It’s legit my friend
Steve, with a non sprayable yes, 3 drops with a sprayable polish like The Gold Standard polish less is more. FYI Yvan has been a proponent of sprayable polish for over 20 years, this is not new or different for him.
@@diydetailofficial OK great the whole time he's on all these detailing channels since day one why are we not hearing about sprayable polish. If that was the case Yvan was telling us what someone else wanted us to hear and not what he believed or knew to be true. That's worse just being a shill for someone else and making a name for himself on an eventual competitor back. You think we haven't been listening those of us who have been around for a while (years) not the guys who tried it for 6 months couldn't make it work and got a job. If this was your plan all along good for you you're just another snake oil salesman. You know who I trust APEX, no nonsense, tells the truth, I could go on but the guy is straight legit and good for the business you are a whatever works this week wonder. You are not a detailer you are a salesman, and by the way I'm a 75 year old man and United States Veteran who's word means something to the people I know and me. NUFF SAID 💯
30 bucks for 16 ounces? You crazy.
No, with a spray polish you use much less polish , a little goes a very way.
@@diydetailofficial I can get a 32 ounce 3D one for that price to last me for years. You guys have got to lower your prices to be competitive.
Thank you for your concern.
@MeliorIlle - If you've never used a spray polish, how could you possibly know its relative value?
Funny you mention 3D ONE because that is the other polish I use, and 32oz is $49.99.
Where are you finding it for that price?
@@danlc95 I got mine on sale, did you not? LOL. Looks like someone else needs to learn about value and impulsive/ignorant purchases.
I’m saving on this 🫡
