    My impression of the 'toy' creatures is that they might have been intended as guardians for children. They would be designed to be appealing to the kids and lethal to trespassers. That would imply that the mansions may have been built specifically to house children, rather than just wealthy individuals in general. Of course, they were clearly unsuccessful in keeping the children safe.

    I've heard "the players are clones of Sigurd and his crew" to explain the memory loss but this is the first time I've seen both "the players are the *chewed-up-and-spit-out remnants* of Sigurd and his crew" and an actual incorporation of the "spitting out the rinds" line. I like this theory a lot.

    • @xm214-aminigun9
      @xm214-aminigun9 14 дней назад +188

      Sigurd and his crew were probably chewed and spat out clones of others, and those others were also remnants.
      We are so far down this tree of uhhhh, birth? Or something? Think of it, if Sigurd died and was returned to the company, and the rest were ejected due to not meeting quota, that means there's a bit of Sigurd in all of us, there's a bit of the Golden Planet's people in all of us.
      This thing probably gargles up everything and shapes them into flesh beings then spits them out. So there's a bit of everyone in everyone.

    • @sarahthesarah2850

      I like the sci-fi trope of human clones being a subclass. The rich get to birth original and new beings where the labor class are cloned from the most successful original laborers. Considering we have gene editing a scary though is that the human genome could be more specialized for specific tasks. If clones weren't even considered human, the company could justify it's treatment of them. What if humans became different hive consciousnesses. They want the scraps so that memories can still give them a semblance of individuality. Just musing.

    The theory of the company reanimating corpses does actually make some sense when you look at the in-game corpse-retrieval system. When Richard was killed the Bracken took his body which forced the company to issue a replacement, this replacement-cost could be the 20% penalty we see ingame.

    • @CKponysongs

      It could also possibly explain why the turrets attack us. The people that abandoned it, why would they bother to leave it on targeting anything non-human AND human. Unless...we're not actually people, just the remnants. Bit of a stretch but i still think it's a fun theory.

    • @Bluedragon-iz3oo
      @Bluedragon-iz3oo 11 дней назад +137

      I have a theory on why the company would reanimate the corpse. If there is a beast that ate an entire planet of gold, why would only scraps satisfy it now, and why seemingly useless items.
      Its not the physical materials that the beast needs to consume. If so, there are plenty of thing it can eat that would satisfy it more, including trying to eat the building itself.
      What I think the beast eats is humanity itself. not just humans, but things human value. But the problem is that it already ate all of humanity and is now starving and picking at the crumbs left behind, or the scraps the player collects.
      The players are not humans, they are immitations of humans that the beast can’t eat. But are useful in the sense that they can pickout the crumbs of humanity, but are ultimately worthlesss.

    Forever ago, I saw the creator asking for feedback on Lethal before the game was released, so I watched some of his videos. When I heard the drop ship come in, barely audible besides air hissing, I told him two things: make the mask crack easier to see through on screen and not as reflective and annoying as it was, and give the drop ship an ice-cream truck alarm so you could hear it coming easier. He was like "An ice-cream truck sound lol?" and I was like "Ye so you can hear it coming rather than just almost silent and you can't find it." So he made those changes. I'm happy I gave him feedback and I play this game often with my homies.

      Honestly that makes sense, to add to this something I also thought of is the possibility the company ship _is_ the boat, the idea that it was once humanity's last hope but was captured by the company with those on board forced to serve feels compelling, after all, outside of the company cruiser and jetpack, the ship is practically the only other form of travel we see or know of in game.
      In the context of the game I think it makes sense too, "ship" is just another term for boat and we are also ferrying this scrap back to the company much alike boats do irl with goods and cargo, while it is possible they're two separate things I think it makes sense given the "boat" is implied to be old and from the first galactic expeditions, which fits the description of the company ship considering there have been hundreds of years to further develop forms of space travel alike it and yet our ship is just as basic and barebones as possible, almost crudely made in a quick manner without time to adequately improve on the design..

    My personal theory is that "The Company" is one giant containment device for something like SCP-169 (The giant underwater leviathan), who feeds off the memories of people, and spits up their bodies. "The Company" is a group of people on the other side of the solar system (to out range the memory devouring) who selects people to pick up various worthless objects as an excuse to keep them in close proximity to the creature so that it can feed on their memories, and thus keep itself content to remain contained. Essentially drip feeding it food so it won't eat more planets.

      @metalfan846 13 дней назад +102

      That's a really good one, my theory is that sigurd started out as human, but the rest of his crew were puppets or at least part of them. That's why his suit didn't fit at first, after he dies and his body and memories are fed to the company they are regurgitated into a new puppet and now the suit fits but his memories are all jumbled. The entity is simply using puppets to recruit real human, send them out on missions to be killed. Then have the experienced puppets with the combined memories and skills extract the bodies for it to consume. The scrap retrieval is simply busywork until something hopefully kills you. Hence the quota always rising

    The fact the lights on the Old Birds heads are specifically searchlights makes me think they're searching for the planet the company is on, and they stay on each planet they land on to wait for signs of the company, which is why they attack the player, they don't still think they're at war, they just recognise the player as an extension of the company and eliminate it.
    The little girl as well, monsters attack as they're monsters and however they've been mutated they get hungry or don't have control over their impulses (even if they did they'd still attack the company). But why would a little girl specifically who's dead suddenly start attacking people for exploring and trying to find things they need? She attacks the player because she knows what they are, that they're just a puppet of the company that wiped out seemingly all human life, potentially trying to put us out of our misery. I imagine everything we encounter knows what the crew is, like some cruel joke only we aren't in on.
    The fact we look for useless bits of scrap, which appear to get more valuable to us the more they indicate human life (engines, energy supplies, jars of pickles, gold, cash register), makes me believe that we aren't there for scrap, we're being sent to check for survivors and if we ever found one the company would tighten its grip and the player would drag it back to the company planet for consumption and repurposing...
    Desmond may be categorically built different, having at some point worked out what was happening and in each subsequent lifetime either finding the drill or working it out on his own and having the same idea, to use the scrap they bring back to try to break into the company and learn the truth.
    On the basis we might be searching for living people rather than scrap the Old Birds though described as war machines were likely repurposed for finding the company by some potential survivors at one point in time, whether they still survive is a different conversation. I wonder if there are some survivors hidden on the planet littered by Old Birds, and they're there as a frontline security measure. It might be similar for the masks, as you say they might not be supernatural, I wonder if they are a biological or mechanical weapon also developed by humans as a booby trap specifically to take control of and incapacitate curious employees before they manage to find anyone.
    As for why even if you kill the entities and monsters the company doesn't seem to want them, well, would you eat a radioactive steak?
    Possibly some gaps there but that's my current headcanon. Imagine war between space empires is going on to the degree people are mutating into monsters and then some planet sized monster (or perhaps it wasn't originally planet sized) starts consuming humans in the background, harvesting their bodies then spits them back out of some evangelion style mind meld where they don't know anything else but working for the company, maybe just me but I don't want to be dead, a monster, OR a pile of confused organic matter in a suit - this is a universe where being a ghost is the best option for existence.

    Something that struck me about the implications of the butler is that, in the context of a mansion being full of people, it can be guessed it was made as a bio-weapon used either as an assassin, or a spy detector.
    Assuming it was designed to look human (years and years making the skin sag and the body rot resulting in its current look) it could be deployed into an enemy base, designed to target isolated members, kill them, clean up after, only to rinse and repeat until the base was cleared.
    In the other scenario it could be used in ones own base to target infiltrating spies and catch them when they're alone, and if the spy survived the butler's attack, it would be obvious there was a spy seeing as they would now be followed by hornets.
    Also can't help but feel like there's a play on the '' the butler did it'' trope.

    This game is the best played when not knowing anything and with a group. I was playing with some coworkers and we decided to go onto the rig map. About halfway through our round, I said I noticed some girl following us. I asked if they had noticed her or not, and they of course said no. Cautiously I got up to the girl and asked again, this time saying she was right in front of me, give or take a few feet. I start hearing the heartbeat sound, confirming to me that she was some sort of entity. They looked where I was staring and said nothing was there, they didn't even hear the heartbeat. She didn't do anything, so I thought her to be either bugged or some sort of benevolent enemy. Then she ran away. Now we're towards the end of the run. I am outside tossing stuff off the railing to get it easier to the ship. I get all the stuff to the bottom, then I go down. Other than the blizzard conditions, I hear nothing. No eyeless dogs. No leviathan. Altogether safe. The other guys are still in the rig, so I decided to go down and wait for them in the ship. I'm looking at the map, safe as could be, door closed. Steadily, the guys are making their way back to ship. Good. Then I hear that heartbeat sound again. Confused, I look around and see nothing on the ship. Then the door opens. Then the skipping. I literally screamed in local chat that the damn girl was here before she broke my neck and splattered my blood onto the console.
    Not even a minute later, one of the lads come by, talking about their nice haul and how they encountered almost no monsters. Everything is good until he enters the ship and notices my body on the ground and my blood on the wall. Silence. He closes the door and asks if anyone had seen anything. Silence. Finally the last two come by and open the door, joyously talking about their nice haul, until they see my dead ass body. Immediately, they close the door and get the hell out of there.

A tip for dealing with the girl if you are inclined: if you move the terminal as close as you can to the monitors, but facing the doors, the ghost cannot spawn and end you as long as you are on the terminal. 1. Easter Eggs. They one shot Giants. If you understand how eggs work on a technical level, killing them is easy.
      2. Giants can be killed with 2 shotgun shots (gotta hit the hitbox though).
      3. Giants are initially slow, then accelerate to their top speed. You can use this to your advantage, especially around wide corners.
      4. Giants work entirely off LOS. They also mostly appear on moons with large trees and/or obstacles (Artifice, for example). If you're just running straight towards the ship, then obviously you'll suffer.
      5. On Artifice, you can easily trap Giants in the two large sheds.

      Giants are still the hardest enemy for me to deal with by far, and I understand I have privilege in countering them because I have a glitch that removes all fog from my game (I didn't put that glitch there, it just happened on its own) so I can see where giants are at all times. HOWEVER. You can avoid them much easier by sneaking, in my experience. It seems that sneaking makes it harder for them to see you, and it also prevents you from accidentally running up on them without paying attention. Sneaking has allowed me to get into the ship more often than not when giants are roaming about. The thing that kills me is actually oftentimes the AI that was lingering around the area I started sneaking in. For example, if I need to sneak while I'm near baboon hawks, they start to get antsy after a bit and begin attacking me- forcing me to just sprint to the ship even though a giant is near, or die.

    • @roysamuels9468
      @roysamuels9468 14 дней назад +15

      @catpoke9557 This is correct. Alter Ego has a great video going into the details of the Giant's AI. Sneaking reduces the rate at which Giants will aggro. Think of their aggro as a meter that goes up and down depending on your actions, and only as long as the Giant can see you. Once it reaches the top of that meter, you'll see/hear the fear effect, and the Giant locks on.
      Turning corners is the best way to deal with them. They quickly lose aggro when not in LOS, and will give up chase. Obviously, though, this is super effective on all maps.

    An alternative to your “Puppet Rinds” Theory, I was thinking that all the employees are regular humans, but that the scraps they are collecting are in a way busy work, and that the Company actually consumes memory.
    The golden planet I think could instead represent a utopian planetary civilization, say in its “Golden Age”, which drew the hunger of some form of mind/memory devouring entity, drawn in by the beacon of happiness and prosperity.
    But to keep a constant supply of minds and memories to eat, the Company created this effective busy work to keep a constant amount of ever recycling fresh minds to feed on.
    The value of each item isn’t from its material value, but instead that it either triggers positive memories of the individuals past, or it simply brings capitalistic joy in the crew at such a big pay day, the value of the item being the value of the item, creating more and more positive memories to feed the Company.
    As it feeds it grows more and more numb to the memory of happiness and utopia until finally one of its supplies dies and it is hit with a crash unless another crew can keep it “topped up” on the high positive memories, even as the crews willow in misery, the slim pickings of memory and the panicked joy of simply having enough money to live being all the Company can now create after it swallowed the utopian “Golden Planet” in a fit of hunger and ecstasy, only in its hunger to have plunged the nebula into an eternal cycle of war and chaos where the only bitter bits of joy and nostalgia it can creat are from a bunch of overworked corporate slaves and the little joy they get by not dying on the job.
    Just a random alternative theory, also had some thoughts on memories leaking back out of the company, perhaps slowly forming over time longer lasting crews into the original “prime crew” we have the logs of, leading crews the longer they last down the potential road to end the suffering of the Company.

      I loooooove your theory.
      This makes a lot of sense.
      This means the person on the other side of the wall, he was probably living in a memory of his bedroom, living room or smth.
      He was casually speaking of the monster that the moment Sigurd told him he was on the other side of the wall, he freaked out.
      He freaked out because it all became clear to him.
      He was living in a memory then the fake filter came off? He snapped back to reality?
      If we consider that the monster feeds on memories, and to feed on the memories it has to make the person's brain run the memory one last or one few times before they're ready to be used as flesh material for new employees, then the person Sigurd talked to was in the process of his memories being fed upon.
      My mini addon-theory with yours says that the monster puts you in a memory you exprienced and feeds upon it as you relieve or exprience it.

Where we had to get steel from sunken warships to get steel that had no background radiation as they where built b4 the age of nuclear weapons. Perhaps we colonized space, meet aliens, used nuclear weapons and now 1% of humanity lives as an under class not holding any power. I don't know anything about the game beyond this video, but I found it interesting that it's set in a "nebula". As far as I was aware, a nebula is essentially a space nursery for forming stars, whereas moons would imply planets, which would imply solar system. I looked it up and there's a type of nebula called a "planetary nebula", which forms when a star turns into a red giant and "the ultraviolet radiation it emits can ionize the surrounding nebula that it has thrown off". Our sun is going to become a red giant, and Titan is the name of one of Saturn's moons. Could be something that ties into the irradiated evolution theory, could be an oversight of astronomy terms ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      That would be awesome although I feel like the ending would have to be sort of cryptic. Like let’s say you drill into the wall and you hear the monster roar and see tentacles spilling out and it just wipes everyone out. Then we could be left to speculate what happened. Maybe the monster broke out and went on its inevitable rampage. Or maybe we gave our lives to expose it and now other colonies can see it as an opportunity to strike. I don’t feel like a concrete ending would be satisfying enough for all the hype

    Some issues with your "bag of bones" hypothesis -- Sigurd's logs do reference seeing the faces of Desmond and Jess ('"their faces are blank like idiots" when Rich gets Bracken'd). So at least at that point, there were faces to be seen through the suits. Maybe that was Original Sigurd and they were still in their first incarnation then, but then that calls into question your use of Rich's smell as evidence that he was already dead. Also, the fact that Rich has a notable smell implies that Sigurd and his crew weren't always fully sealed into their suits. The suit is airtight since you can survive (at least for a little while) in the vacuum of space, so how could Rich-Stink escape and also enter Sigurd's suit?
    Given the lower lethality of Sigurd's logs, I think that in his time the job was easier. Less monsters, more loot. But as crew after crew takes the easy stuff, we have to search harder and harder for enough things to sell. Plus the monsters are probably quite happily breeding and growing on the delicious meat delivered to them. This would explain at least in part the difference between Sigurd's experiences with some creatures and yours, if there was a ton of stuff and less Hoarding Bugs, then you don't have to compete with them as much for loot, there's enough for everyone.
    I agree that we're feeding The Beast, but I'm not sure I agree that we're agents of The Beast. A possible alternative explanation is that The Beast is typically sedentary unless hungry and the galactic community figured out they could build a structure around it and then feed it junk instead of letting it get so hungry it eats planets. It's sad that you're treated as worthless under that system but if there are multiple planets with populations in the billions, a few dozen dead poor people a week to prevent an entire planet from being eaten makes for a coldly logical deal.
    (This also doesn't entirely rule out multiple incarnations; it could be clones of the same five-plus people and Sigurd's memories are slowly being corrupted. The originals may have completely voluntarily started this job, but the fine text said "oh yeah we get control of your genetic data forever kthxbai").
    This explanation does solve for why the quotas go up until they're impossible and you die. The Beast is being very carefully kept at just over starvation. In it's sedentary state a little bit of food keeps it quiet but it needs more and more as it returns to wakefulness. Eventually it would fully awaken, but by cutting off the supply it's forced back into dormancy for a little longer, so the next crew can be recruited/conscripted/printed to start the cycle over at a feasible level. This explains why you aren't just given useful equipment and have to pay to visit the high value moon's, they don't want a team being able to feed it too much too fast, that throws off the schedule.
    The pronouns on the conversation over the walkie-talkie are also somewhat ambiguous. The voice doesn't clearly identify itself as being digested by The Beast, just that "they were", which could mean the population of the Golden Planet. I dunno if that has any further meaning, but thought it's worth mentioning.

    I’m surprised you didn’t make the connection between the old birds and the coilheads. The latter’s notes say that it emits radiation and can be stunned by bright flashes or loud sounds, both of which are countered by the former’s radiation sensors which lead to activation (further supported by the fact that rad levels rise when you remove the apparatus, which activate ALL mechs on the map), and the fact that old birds have a super bright headlamp and a “sound cannon”
    My take is that the Anglens may have attacked the Buemoch first using coilheads and the Beus retaliated with old birds after researching and understanding their adversary’s weapons (to mixed levels of success (coilheads are known to explode on autopsies))

    I think even at the time Sigurd writes the log, Desmond is somewhat aware. The log were Sigurd talks about how Desmond wanting to get the junk back to the company building because it had an insane return rate, He specifically says its rare. How would Desmond know that if they all started working around the same time. Sure they have been at it for a while at that point but not enough to probably know what the rare rates are.
    I think that even at the time Sigurd writes the log, Desmond has been at it for a while OR what if memory loss is happening but your memory gets reset every time like its your first day. Desmond doesnt bother to explain it because its just a waste of time at this point or cant really recall himself yet. They even mention in the logs that they dont understand Desmonds actions like trying to trace the call. To them it seems pointless or useless but to Desmond its really important.
    I also think the reason Desmond spends more time with the terminal is because he might have discovered his previous logs and is basically trying to learn as much as possible before they all die again and they forget.
    I think your memory resetting is also necessary, If the company brought you back and your last memory was being eaten by a forest giant or being grabbed by a bunker spider then you having PTSD would be an understatement. Or even worse, remembering that the reason you died the last time was because your crew left you on a moon, That could cause some issues with the team going forward. It is in the companies and your best interest to not remember what happened.

See, for us as players we kinda treat it as a roguelike. We go in, we get stuff, but we also die, a lot. But we as players learn something new every time. The first time I went to Gordion I immediately thought of the story of the Gordian Knot (due to the similar name) from the legends of Alexander the Great. The story is about a knot that's really complex that's tied to an oxcart and the legend goes that whoever can untie the knot will be destined to rule all Asia. Alexander looks at the knot and promptly cuts through it with his sword rather than untying it like everyone before him had been trying to do. The metaphor is that seemingly unsolvable problems can be solved by brute force, or by thinking outside the box. I think this would fit into the drill theory pretty well too.

    Lethal Company player and "fan" since November 2023 here (haven't been in 6th grade since 2015, long since graduated) - I've decided to note down my nitpicks, because why not?
    (All info below is accurate as of v69)
    21:36 There are two windows located on the back wall of the cottage, it's totally possible to view this message on the wall without using a key or lock pick to open the door.
    27:35 He showed the Factory interior twice lol.
    28:42 Not entirely true. By unplugging the apparatus, every security door will automatically open permanently. (It will not disable traps though, implying that they all utilize their own separate power source)
    39:52 This wasn't added in a recent update to the game, not at all. As far as I'm aware the Arachnophobia Mode setting has existed in the game for as long as I've been playing it since 2023.
    46:46 It is a good idea to drop your loot outside whenever possible. However, there are certain situations where you can, or really should, keep your loot indoors;
    Firstly, if you drop your loot outside the main entrance of Adamance, Baboon Hawks will run off with your loot most of the time. I've never had Baboon Hawks steal loot left outside of the fire exit on Adamance, however, so that spot is fine.
    Secondly, Hoarding Bugs do not spawn on Rend, so leaving loot indoors on Rend is fine.
    Thirdly, if the weather is stormy, it's perfectly fine to leave loot, even if it's conductive, outside as long as you're smart about where you place it (off to the side, far enough away from the entrance door as to not accidentally get your team killed by lightning), however I'd understand leaving loot inside during stormy weather as well.
    I will also note, however, that when leaving loot outside of Titan's main entrance, yes, there is a ceiling above you that blocks lightning, but you should remain vividly aware about how far under that ceiling you are when dealing with an incoming lightning strike. I've gotten killed holding conductive loot on Titan multiple times while being absolutely certain that I was far enough under the ceiling and perfectly safe, but even though the lightning never struck me directly, I was too far from the ceiling's cover to avoid being killed.
    Basically, when it's stormy on Titan, leave all the loot right against the wall next to the door, where you and your team will be safe from lightning strikes 100% of the time.
    51:33 This is straight up not true. How do I know? I've died to the Hygrodere by trying to stand up high to avoid it and was still killed. Wendigoon will be responsible for the deaths of hundreds with this misinformation, I'm sure.
    57:35 this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this
    Holy fuck it is so infuriating that people still don't know that noise attracts the dogs, even after it's explained to them 50 times. They should be the easiest outdoor enemies to deal with, but I guess if your team isn't super experienced, they're really the worst.
    59:09 Speaking of inexperience, I'm still baffled that only 1% of players seemingly know about this nifty little trick, that both reduces your chances of being killed by Eyeless Dogs AND makes it easier for other teammates to listen to you speak:
    There's a nice little option in the game's menu called "Settings." In this "Settings Menu" you can find another option called "Push to Talk."
    What does "Push to Talk" do? It makes it so that none of your microphone inputs are transmitted into the game unless you're actively holding down a specific button. I personally use the "MOUSE4" or "BACK" button on my mouse, which I use for push to talk in every game I play, actually.
    You can even change which key you want to use for push to talk in Lethal Company by clicking on another option within the settings menu called "Keybinds" and changing the key from there. It's really convenient, and if you're a Lethal Company player reading this, you should enable Push to Talk now.
    1:00:22 I actually didn't know about this before watching this video. Ever since I saw those spikes in the game one day, I always just assumed they were just another randomly spawning purely aesthetical structure. (Which is still true, I guess, I just didn't know that they directly influenced other entities).
    1:03:26 I think this is simply ridiculous. "Earth" does not strictly refer to the "planet Earth," but can also refer to the "earth" as in dirt, soil, ground, rock, etc.
    I think the "Earth Leviathan" is only called that because the earth (aka the dirt, soil, ground, rock, etc.) is where it resides, as can be seen in-game. I think immediately assuming that it is somehow directly related to the planet Earth just because "earth" is in the creature's name is really overthinking things.
    1:05:29 Fun fact, and this goes not only for lobby trolls, but for save scumming in general: The game does not save your progress until the ship has fully left the current moon, and everyone has respawned back on the ship, and you are free to redirect to another moon. This means that if the host quits back to the menu, they can restart the save, and continue playing from the last save.
    1:35:04 This intrigued me, as I've never ever seen a Masked spawn in via a dead body randomly placed on the map, so I looked it up, and this is false. Masks or Masked, like any other indoor enemy, can only spawn in through vents over time.
    1:43:54 Butler's are indeed not restricted to the Mansion interior, as I have personally encountered them in all three current interiors. In fact, the only monster in the game who's spawn chance is affected by the type of interior is the Maneater, and even then, it simply has a higher chance of spawning if the interior is a Mineshaft. No monster is set to not spawn depending on the interior.
    1:47:39 Newer, but still, Old Birds were added back in April 2024.

    I do have a theory that Jeb (the name most of the people I've played with use for the monster behind the Company walls) is genuinely trapped, it might be just a fun easter egg but when you're selling your loot you usually get generic voice lines from the speaker praising your performance etc, but on rare occasions the voice shifts into something deeper and more sinister and asks "do you truly believe these walls will hold me?" or something to that affect. I think there is a larger galactic story with warring empires but at some point they found some Cthulhu-esque Eldritch Godlike being that consumed worlds and minds. Maybe the reason that so many moons were forgotten/purged of life was Jebs doing, but atleast some faction of humanity managed to subdue and imprison him within the Company building and now the workers are just nessecary sacrifices to keep Jeb pacified like some Lovecraftian sleeping god, we bring ancient materials for him to devour, possibly even devouring the items history the way he devours memories and minds so that he's sated and remains dormant, should we fail to keep him in this state he will awaken and I imagine it's true that the company could not truly contain him should he ever try for a genuine escape. I suspect given that he was able to be confined humanity atleast had enough power to put him in that position but one would imagine if we were capable of it, we would've simply killed him, but perhaps either we were unable to or he simply cannot die so we did the next best thing, trapped him in a big box and throw as many bodies as we can at the problem to keep the slumbering giant content and docile.

    • @TwoFlower02
      @TwoFlower02 15 дней назад +48

      Another sidenote on my thoughts on why so much of the Company, from the hiring to the ships, is automated is because Jeb devours the minds and memories of those in proximity so they automated the whole process because if they had've had actual workers doing that job they likely would've lost their minds and forgotten what they were doing and why, however the one aspect they couldn't automate was the salvage operation that required boots on the ground.

      I’ve never actually heard of this game before but my theory is that in like the new year 0 is the year that humans settled in the nebula, but eventually with the exploration they found the monster behind the walls of the company, and since they needed to focus as much energy as possible to coming up with a plan to end the monster, they locked it up best they could and decided the best way to ensure it was fed with the least amount man power possible they then they decided to export the labor to 21st century gamers. They designed the cage to be the mysterious company building, programmed 4 avatars, and set up a system that would allow players from the past to unknowingly help out the future of humanity. To make it more interesting and believable to us, they made up a bunch of lore about all these other worldly creatures + the Sigurd storyline to keep people coming back to play the game while they figured out a more long term solution to fighting the beast. That’s why all the timelines are kinda funky, they aren’t real. They just want us to continue playing but in order to do that they have to keep us guessing , because if there is anything that humanity loves to devote our time to more than video games it’s scaring the crap out of ourselves and solving mysteries.

That being said, it is really weird because it being named with a hyphen in between the two, I have only ever seen being used to refer to hybrid species (think of mules being a horse-donkey hybrid). Dolus being capitalized means it should technically be the genus but that hyphen confuses me. Interestingly enough, there IS indeed a couple species of bugs that are named dolus, the most likely reference is to the small, flea-like leafhopper native to NA. Man, how long has it been?

      To clarify, I meant: "How long has it been since I've seen anything about Lethal Company."
      I can see why it'd be confusing.

    Man this game is great. Was monitoring my mates in Titan when one dog got in the ship and bit me. Bastard got me fast i was not able to scream in comms. As soon as i started spectating the lads on the inside called for evac as they got cornered by 2 coilheads with an extra thumper running around in the background. The silence that followed as they realized i died is brilliant. Anyways they died as a blob forced them to move into the loving embrace of the coilheads.

    Something I feel like was missed was how Sigurd mentioned his dad living on titan and how they used to go see waterfalls. That implies that the planet wasn’t always snowy and desolate as it is now.

    Some fun details about the Barber! It is immune to damage and is invisible to players outside of a small range. The only warning you get before seeing it up close is the comical snare drum and horns that sound as it moves. In terms of lore, imagine your last line of defense in your home is a Nutcracker that relies on seeing movement… There’s definitely a lot that could be speculated, but as a manmade creature that could be used to target civilians? Terrifying to think about…

    42:94 weelllll, not ENTIRELY unheard of... Back in earth's history when there was more oxygen, A tarantula-like arachnid the size of a mountain lion existed, and the ocean-dwelling Sea Scorpions were some of the first arachnid-like arthropods, all the way back in the Cambrian Era.
    They were the size of a smart car, and already had the scorpion's venomous tail. They also developed internal gill-like lungs that could operate outside of the water.
    Let me reiterate that; within earth's own history, there was a scorpion the size of a CAR that could chase you onto land and inject you with a veritable sprite can of venom.
    Maybe the bunker spiders aren't so unrealistic.
