Seconding (thirding?) the piercing request, especially as a Classic but I have multiple ear piercings and I love wearing ear cuffs as well - I'm guessing the advice is to choose appropriate shapes and not go too crazy on having lots of different ones, but the thought of only wearing simple hoops for the rest of my days is a huge Nope for me 😂

I feel like nothing matches with me, clothes I actually like to wear (colors too) always look off and I haaaaaate being all girly and wearing dark colors. Hopefully I'll find a way to dress better and in my style soon. Anyway thank you so much for your videos, its really helping me a lot
I’m a romantic ingenue and a Dark Winter too. My style roots are Sun and Flower. I have found a way to incorporate all these. I often wear sundresses with a waist emphasis that have florals. The florals will have DW colors from both the light and jewel toned section. For example, white background and dark red flowers. Or dark blue background with berry flowers. DW also has some beautiful mid toned colors. It has some beautiful, bright pinks. Darker colors look better for me next to my face. But I’ll often wear a white crop top with puffy sleeves and pair it with a flowy jewel toned skirt. Earrings in any jewel tones and berry or red lipstick will bring the DW colors I need next to my face. I also love velvet dresses or tops in jewel tones. I make them look more romantic and ingenue by looking for puffy sleeves or ruffles at the collar or hem. And I wear them with delicate, sparkly silver jewelry to bring some lightness. I have other tips but you get the idea.
I probably have a classic body type but I am dramatic my self. Thankfully I think I might actually be dramatic classic, which helps, but thanks to Sarah Burton's style for Alexander McQueen I believe I have found my inspiration. I actually loved the original style of Alexander McQueen (he was my favourite designer) but his work was far too intricate and flamboyant for me to pull off, instead she has combined maximalistic aesthetics with actual minimalistic designs (eg the shoes or their new bucket bag) and more classic silhouettes. Other rock, dramatic and chunky designs that I believe classics can wear are the prada sandals which are very big but have very clean cuts and an extreme black colour and their sunglasses collection. Of course when I mention the designer brands I also mean items inspired by them.
It's me, but more with colors. I'm a winter, I actually like brighter, bolder colors and they do look good on me, but my personality is usually more quiet and introverted, I like more refined styles such as cottagecore and dark academia and I feel the bolder colors can feel too bold sometimes or they don't match the style I'm looking for, where as the more muted, pastels and earth tones look awful on me...
I would suggest a splash of a bold, bright, winter color alongside a more neutral tone. I'm a bright winter but I've realized winters generally have grey, white, and black tones included in their color palettes. I would start with varying hues of these neutral tones paired. I've also learned if you are Winter (or any season really) you can borrow brighter or darker colors from another season as well. Hope this helps in some way!
@@nikhefe16 to add on to this, strong neutrals can help too. If you want to go for a strong look without a lot of bright colors, while still sticking to winter tones, you can use things like snowy white, or rich, slightly blue-tinted black as your main neutrals. I'm also a winter, and when I want a more casual look that doesn't draw too much attention while still looking good on me, I usually go for all black.
I'm in the exact same boat. Bright winter, kibbe romantic with an ingenue essence. But I'm an introvert that love gothic and dark academia styles, and more neutral color palettes. Where do I even begin? 😅
@@ladybluelotus This is just a one-off suggestion, I don't know how well it will actually serve you as a starting point, but I bet a snowy white puffy blouse, maybe with some ruffles, tucked into high waisted black trousers, and a black or jewel toned ribbon tie would look fabulous on you and suit your style
This was SO HELPFUL thank you. I'm a Dramatic Classic and have spent the better part of this week trying to work out how I'll ever wear comfortable clothes again 😂 my style roots are mountain, stone and mushroom, and it's the Stone bit that had me flummoxed. Now I realise I will probably have to buy some new clothes, but that I can be comfortable - they just need to fit me properly and be made in good quality comfy material. I'm also going to alter a bunch of my jumpers to make them more fitted, that's all they needed to be rescued from the donation pile - what a revelation to realise what actually works on your body, that always existed (potentially) in your wardrobe!
I'm a R/TR Dark Autumn with Mountain > Mushroom > Stone roots. The number of things to consider has really cut down on my impluse purchases! Would love to see Romantics with Mountain styling!
Oooooh. Watching this I think I finally figured out how my roots seem to interact! I start with a Mushroom base (so usually classic pieces) but then either Fire or Flower will change the details to add a girlishness or a sensual element. And sometimes Moon will be layered on top in regards to a detail (dark color, leather element, unusual fabrics, etc.) With that in mind EVERYTHING in my wardrobe fits this layering. EVERYTHING. Wow... I feel like I've cracked a code, thank you.
Omg, I'm romantic with moon style root (with a touch of fire) and I gravitate towards celestial pattern naturally I was shocked at how right the example was. I've been unsure recently whether or not I dress well and this really busted my confidence
I really like this video. I’m almost positive I’m a soft natural and have no idea what my essence is. Still my style roots are moon and earth so I think I prefer a bit of edge to the plainer styles I see with some soft natural examples. I like your systems because as someone who has always felt very plain and mannish in build learning how to dress for my body and my season and working my style preferences into that really lets me see how I’m not unattractive just not dressing for myself. I hope you’ll cover soft naturals at some point.
This is super helpful! It gives so many more layers than just "this is your body type. Good luck". Can't wait to implement this system into my shopping 🌼
Thank you! I needed this video! I am a romantic body type with moon/fire/stone style roots and a winter color season. I am rebuilding my wardrobe, and I really love the content on your channel! I am a mom, so stone is more or less where I default to most days with lifestyle, but I would love to see future content on casual and flattering outfits for running errands for the different body types and styles roots. Thank you again for all of the great content!
I love thissss!!! Can we have a video with what happens when your face essence lines contradict your body type style lines? As in, what happens when you have sharp lines in your face, but rounded ones in your body, or the other way around etc? You are the best, thank you!

This is so inspiring! I’m a flamboyant natural and my roots are mushroom, stone and mountain. However now I’m going to go back and see if I’ve been biased by knowing my body type because sometimes I think I like styles which aren’t suited to me!
Wanna cry. Story of my life. I love cute and sweet, pinks and pastels....but what suits me are straight cuts, very powersuit type of clothes and dark colours. And I just want to be a pretty princess 😅 so frustrating, is a constant fight between what i like vs what suit me.
I am a romantic however i LOVE dark/edgy looks. I love piercings-tattoos. I love the hippie/punk looks. I struggle to find the balance and I’m pretty picky when it comes to clothes & the way they may make me look. I’m pale and ginger so darker colors can be very conflicting on me. I think my ideal outfit would be a dark green witchy velvet crop top with puff like sleeves, black high waisted jeans, and a neutral colored heel or sandal. Some days I want to be luxurious looking, other days I want that hippie, cool girl, deep look, & other days I prefer sneakers, baggy pants, & a alternative hoodie. I’m stuck between so many styles
I would really love it if you would do a video series on plus size bodies. Some of us have more hip, some more belly, some more chest, and the lines of our faces are more likely to have been changed by our size. But we still want to have fashion.... and so many clothes for plus size women, especially tops, are either horribly boxy, or they have an empire waist with a lot of gathered fabric through the stomach area which can make us look pregnant.
I do this intuitively. I am a SD, but a very yang one. I am not fond of floral prints, in general, but I love plaids, geometric prints, and anything that has a rather structured quality to it. Also, if I opt for an animal print, I'll chose some that has angular or geometric pattern, like snakeskin, crock skin, and similar. Since I love plaids, I've found a styling formula - the fabric has to be on thinner and softer side, the cut of the skirt needs to be a variation of the pencil skirt, and the plaid needs to be large in scale, rather low in contrast color wise, and it works best if the pattern of the plaids is either put on bias or "broken" by twists in the fabric, or some strange seamlines placement that skews the straight angles a bit.
That is so informative! I was wondering, what if your colour palette doesn't align with your essence ? For instance, I am a Dark winter with Ingenue essence. However, with Ingenue essence it is recommended to wear pastel colours.
I'm an SN, but use a lot of FN and FG mixed lines to get the effect I want. I.e. one of my favorite outfits is the Sandy Liang Four Dress with chunky platform boots, and matching ruffle top socks that peek out from the boots. I think in your system, my primary two elements are Sun and Moon, with maybe Earth as a third but I'm not sure. But that outfit is definitely a combo of Sun and Moon! Lol
There is a running joke between my mom and me that I'm cuter than she is, I'm pretty sure she is a dramatic but she has flower as a style root so I, having a softer body type, am more suited to the feminine style she's drawn to. So the "flower for dramatics" advice is perfect.
I'm a mushroom + mountain + stone. I feel they they're really similar yet works for me in different settings -- mushroom for outings, mountain for work, stone for casual. Still trying to identify my body type though!
A video I'd be interested in seeing is blending yin and yang, especially considering undercurrent vs. primary lines. What's the difference between soft dramatic, theatrical romantic, and gamine outfits/pieces/lines?
Great content Ellie! I really like your style roots concept. It is an ideal way to structure the way I think of my personal style, without limiting my creativity. I would classify myself as a combination of mushroom, flower and earth - and since you were struggling with finding key words for 'earth', I thought, maybe the terms that popped up in my head might be of help. :) Besides 'earthy, natural and carefree' (or 'relaxed'), I think the earth style roots is 'free spirited', artisan (when I think of 'earth', I think of well-made, prints, knits or crochets and other crafty treasures) and 'a wanderer'.
I love your videos, they're always so interesting and help me a lot ! The only problem I can't seem to fix is that I love so many styles and I really like to be a different person everyday according to my mood... One day I wear something feminin, vintage, sexy, the day after it's streetwear, etc. I don't seem to have very steady roots (although most of my clothes does have Moon vibes) and my wardrobe is a mess 😂 whatever, many thanks for your channel, it's so helping, and I can't wait to read my body analysis from you !
actually, I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm on it but this is gonna be quite a long comment (?) so my friend typed me as a SD, and I kinda trusted her with that, but it didn't make any sense when I looked at myself or read recommendations for SDs so I lived almost A YEAR with this subliminal self conciseness that I can't look at myself properly and my style and overall vibe is just not it, that I should be more like a SD and then I found your channel and understood everything I was a soft classic all along and I couldn't be happier bc now my preferences and style and intuitive choices are so valid maybe it sounds stupid, but it is what it is, and I just wanted to thank you for your work and for returning confidence in me🤍
Awesome video, I love the in-depth explanation and examples. So, where do the essences come into play? Or are essences just left behind? I'm asking because I'm a Kibbe Dramatic, with Dramatic and Ethereal essences. And my style roots are Mushroom, Flower, and Sun.
I am a dark winter and a theatrical romantic, dark winter says I shouldn’t wear small textures and flowery patterns(even tho I love those) but romantic says that I should wear smaller patterns so what should I do?
Lmao serena crying in the beginning 😂 Ngl I really do not appreciate intros/title shots?/ 0:45 But this so smooth, natural to the videos vibe, and pleasant to the eyes and ears I had to tell you. Well done
I think I saw a short where you said you had sun as root priority. Would you mind doing an updated version of the end of this and maybe elaborate on how you noticed the difference?
I am a Fire, Moon/Earth Flamboyant natural. Could you maybe do a video for each of the Kibbe types and recommendations for each root? That would be very helpful!
Your videos are amazing! This is the best advice I’ve ever seen on dressing for both style AND body type. Do you have any advice on dressing a soft classic/yin body type in the winter? Sweaters and layers often look really unflattering on my curves :/
Help! Im a theatrical romantic with a mountain style root (+mushroom and flower) and i have no idea how to make those 2 work together? Would love to see a video/short on this, does anyone have any tips??
Do you ever do any type of athletic wear inspo? I’m at the point of my life that I really can’t wear anything other then that, because I am a mom and I find it difficult to crawl on the floor or hold my kids or run around, in anything but athletic wear. But I still am attempting to use my Sun and gamine essence/lines and I would love some inspo. I’m asking everyone I watch with this type of content, the same question. Hoping someone has that down already on there list of topics one day.
Can this also apply if you really like vintage/retro styles? For example would bell bottoms be okay on a romantic type even though the length goes against their lines?
My biggest issue with using the body typing system is that the glamor and femininity associated with being a very lush, short True Romantic gives me a looooooot of gender dysphoria, because, as a bigender trans person, it makes me really uncomfortable to be assumed to be a femme, cisgender woman, which is what happens if I dress too close to my lines. Is there something you can recommend for someone in my situation, or should I just look more into Kibbe typing for men instead?
I think I'm somewhere in the gamine/romantic area (5' and soft) but I'm enby so there's dysphoria there. I'm a fan of mountain/mushroom/earth roots. My style is very much puff sleeves or a corset like top, paper bag shorts, and a blazer. Still unsure of my colour season, but I wear a lot of greyscale bc I love it, and have recently incorporated neutral brown tones and sage.
Not connected to the video but I have a potential video recommendation: it could be interesting to dive deeper into the differences between Dramatic and Soft Dramatic, especially for not “typical” representatives of such types. For example I can be only Dramatic, Soft Dramatic and Flamboyant Natural considering my height (170) and I know that I’m 100% not of a natural family. But I have a very hard time deciding my type because 1) it’s pretty hard to say that a closing piece is surely better for dramatics or soft dramatics 2) I have and don’t have curves (romantic traits) at the same time because I have lower body fat than soft dramatics typed by kibbe and don’t have any prominence in the chest, but at the same time clothes that have curves in them tend to fit me a lot but not the typical romantic styles because I don’t have such essence hahah
@@wil7033 it was stated on this channel that DC cannot be taller than 167, anyways even if these height borders are wrong I am still not a dramatic classic and not any classic in general because if I were to take a kibbe test I wouldn’t have any classic answers (all of my features have some extreme to them, for example my shoulders are not average but very very sharp and quite narrow)
One of my challenges is finding prints that have that ethereal maturity with some romantic secondary essence flair but aren't huge for theatrical romantic. The ditsy prints are too small, youthful and ingenue or gamine like. It doesn't quite work with the ageless look. Maybe solids, embroidery/texture, some lace and metallic details are my thing. It's frustrating when you're looking for things that are harder to find.
I'm a deep autumn, soft dramatic with earth, stone, and moon essence whose going for a mix of masculine and feminine that's not based on menswear. Edit to add: I would love to see a case study or example of how this would be achieved.

Love this! could you do for men or like androgynous people?
YES PLEASE ELLIE
is androgynous people who want to be between male and female?
I would love that too!
@@flowersandlace androgynous is a combination of masculinity and femininity. Someone who considers themselves somewhere in between, both, or neither male or female is non-binary (I hope this is actually helpful)
As a non binary watcher, YES PLEASE!!!
You just know this is your passion and it shows thank you for being my teacher and guide on this self discovery journey I am greatful for such informative clean pretty videos
This is so inspiring! I’m a flamboyant natural and my roots are mushroom, stone and mountain. However now I’m going to go back and see if I’ve been biased by knowing my body type because sometimes I think I like styles which aren’t suited to me!
Refine, Focus, Follow sounds like a strategy that software or rocket scientists may use to improve their product design development !
Wanna cry. Story of my life. I love cute and sweet, pinks and pastels....but what suits me are straight cuts, very powersuit type of clothes and dark colours. And I just want to be a pretty princess 😅 so frustrating, is a constant fight between what i like vs what suit me.
These are just suggestions, you should wear whatever you like! 💖
Lol
Styling can be sometimes difficult when you have some odd body types... Styling is essential part of fashion
I love your approach to Kibbe and body types! Looking forward to future videos
PLease make a podcast! Your voice is so nice and soothing and then i can also listen on the go!
There is a running joke between my mom and me that I'm cuter than she is, I'm pretty sure she is a dramatic but she has flower as a style root so I, having a softer body type, am more suited to the feminine style she's drawn to. So the "flower for dramatics" advice is perfect.
Your Style Roots system is genius. Just had to say that. ❤
I'm a mushroom + mountain + stone. I feel they they're really similar yet works for me in different settings -- mushroom for outings, mountain for work, stone for casual.
Still trying to identify my body type though!
I would love more content on combining the systems. Still stumped!
This slightly explains why I love retro academia clothes as a SC with earth ,mushroom and maybe flower roots.
A video I'd be interested in seeing is blending yin and yang, especially considering undercurrent vs. primary lines. What's the difference between soft dramatic, theatrical romantic, and gamine outfits/pieces/lines?
Please do Natural essence!
Omg more videos with examples of this please I love
Please include this with seasonal color 🙏 😍 I am a little confused because I am a soft classic and I am a deep winter season.
Can you break down each body type and how each body type works with each root? Im having a hard time applying this across each type and style root
I love your videos, they're always so interesting and help me a lot ! The only problem I can't seem to fix is that I love so many styles and I really like to be a different person everyday according to my mood... One day I wear something feminin, vintage, sexy, the day after it's streetwear, etc. I don't seem to have very steady roots (although most of my clothes does have Moon vibes) and my wardrobe is a mess 😂 whatever, many thanks for your channel, it's so helping, and I can't wait to read my body analysis from you !
actually, I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm on it
but this is gonna be quite a long comment (?)
so my friend typed me as a SD, and I kinda trusted her with that, but it didn't make any sense when I looked at myself or read recommendations for SDs
so I lived almost A YEAR with this subliminal self conciseness that I can't look at myself properly and my style and overall vibe is just not it, that I should be more like a SD
and then I found your channel and understood everything
I was a soft classic all along and I couldn't be happier bc now my preferences and style and intuitive choices are so valid
maybe it sounds stupid, but it is what it is, and I just wanted to thank you for your work and for returning confidence in me🤍
Can u please do a more detailed video about each style root.
Awesome video, I love the in-depth explanation and examples. So, where do the essences come into play? Or are essences just left behind? I'm asking because I'm a Kibbe Dramatic, with Dramatic and Ethereal essences. And my style roots are Mushroom, Flower, and Sun.
Wouldn't sun complement your dramatic essence, and flower would complement your ethereal essence?
@@nerafinator Interesting thought, I'll explore that further.
This Chanel has helped me a lot, thanks to you
Hi, can you make the same type of video about out-of-our-season clothes we previously bought and still wanna use? :)
I am living for these styling videos!!! Thank you so much!
Omg.. until this video, I wasn't even quite sure what my personal style was. So needed this 🌸🤩🤯
I am a dark winter and a theatrical romantic, dark winter says I shouldn’t wear small textures and flowery patterns(even tho I love those) but romantic says that I should wear smaller patterns so what should I do?
Lmao serena crying in the beginning 😂
Ngl I really do not appreciate intros/title shots?/ 0:45
But this so smooth, natural to the videos vibe, and pleasant to the eyes and ears I had to tell you. Well done
Wow! I love this and I think it’s so SPOT ON. 🤩 I struggled in the same way and I’ve loved seeing your element theory in motion.
This is so great, Useful Information
A big thank you for advancing this community with your knowledge, this video is so inspiring and I really love it 🥰
This is so good and amazing for choosing style for dressing
I think I saw a short where you said you had sun as root priority. Would you mind doing an updated version of the end of this and maybe elaborate on how you noticed the difference?
Thank you so much for the content of this video, cause it just what I needed.
I love your confidence
Your videos are amazing! Thank you 💕
Oh thank goodness for you! Needed this
Needed to end war with my wardrobe
Thank you ☺️
You are so talented.
This question has been on my mind for the longesttt timeeee! thank you sooo so much
thia is extremely helpful thank you!
Thanks for this....really needed this
So interesting and educative
I am a Fire, Moon/Earth Flamboyant natural. Could you maybe do a video for each of the Kibbe types and recommendations for each root? That would be very helpful!
I’m really starting to understand!! 🎉
Your videos are amazing! This is the best advice I’ve ever seen on dressing for both style AND body type.
Do you have any advice on dressing a soft classic/yin body type in the winter? Sweaters and layers often look really unflattering on my curves :/
Amazing content, I really love this
Hey could you break down barbara Palvin's body shape and essense ?please
Help! Im a theatrical romantic with a mountain style root (+mushroom and flower) and i have no idea how to make those 2 work together? Would love to see a video/short on this, does anyone have any tips??
I love this video😭❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the steps
Wow, thank you for this video! Great insight and ideas
Absolutely awesome
Would love a follow up about colors! I am a true-to-soft summer, but I haaaaaaate pastels 🙃😭
Where did you get this blouse? I've seen it in a few videos and it's beautiful.
This is so very helpful
my body type is romantic and root is mountain so what should I wear
You could be also a DC....
Your hair looks great darling 🥰
Nice one,I love this video
This is such a helpful video. Thank you!
This is so amazing
You look great!
This is so great ❤️❤️💯💯
hi! can u do makeup for the body types/essences… thx!
Ellie Jean! I love the Style Roots theory, please do more content on it! And I would love some pointers for Flower+Moon+Fire!!!😊
So helpful!!
