    Can you maybe do something similar to this series for the seasonal color types? Like, how to dress edgy for light spring, or fun for soft autumn, or earthy for bright winter, or something like that. Cause I'd like to go edgy/goth a little but am a soft summer and black completely overpowers me.

    Sun is definitely one of my style roots. I hated being a classic for so long because I felt like the looks I wanted to wear always looked costumey. But I’ve been really learning how to look really fun with one thing. Like novelty earrings or fantasy hair color, with an otherwise very DC lines.

    As a dramatic/soft dramatic looking for ways to add quirky flair to my outfits without looking Off, this was really interesting! On the topic of style roots, have you considered making a video or series on combining difficult to combine style roots for people with eclectic taste who still want a cohesive wardrobe? (e.g, fire and mushroom, sun and moon) I figure series like creating an effect will probably take priority, but I think it could be helpful

    Hi Ellie-Jean
    I really love how you took such an original spin on the kibbe body types with your idea of creating an effect! Because honestly I feel this doesn't get talked about enough in the kibbe community. Oftentimes you are just kind of left with your type's recommendations wondering what the hell am I supposed to do with this, especially if the description and the style most suited for your body type has zero to do with how you would like to feel in your clothes or how you would like to be perceived. So I think your different way of thinking about it is really inspiring and also much more helpful
    in terms of practical application. Thank you so much!
    Could you please make a video on how to dress "sensual" for the body types, probably about implementing the fire root? I am a soft gamine with ingenue essence and I really struggle with not wanting to look like a little girl when I try to dress in a more mature and sensual way, so that would be very helpful!
    Also this has nothing to do with the content of your videos but from what I can tell you just seem to be such a kind and sweet person, it really makes me enjoy it even more to watch them!

    I love this! The kibbe system can be super restrictive saying that you need to have a certain personal style just because of your body type. But it should truly just be a guide to how you can express your own style in the lines that are harmonious with your body. 🥰Hope you make one for moon fire or flower next ✨✨💗

      This. I self identify as romantic and from what I've seen online, can't have any other style than what Marylin wore in 50s but that's just not something I gravitate towards. Actually, none of romantic examples have the style I like. Also, it's really hard finding clothes that fit first of all, because clothes that we here get are made for complete different side of the world, with completely different view on women's bodies (whole other can of worms) and are especially not made with large chested/hips girls in mind. Also, I have to worry that what fits me don't age me which is also an issue when all romantic examples are in their 30s and 40s and you have no other guide. It's only with her guide that I've managed to understand clothes and marry the two and to look my age while also dress according to my body and personal style. If I'd follow just Kibbie, I'd be much more restricted even than I already am.
      Edit:I also hope Ellie does this for moon, fire or for everyone really

      Hello! She has a video up titled "how to look intimidating for your body type". I personally believe the intimidating/edgy aesthetic she refers to is the moon style root you're looking for. It's a pretty helpful video if you haven't watched it yet 😊

    • @LeaveBritneyalone580
      @LeaveBritneyalone580 2 года назад +2

      @@Silica-black Thanks, of course I've seen it, it was really helpful. I was just mentioning how restrictive Kibbie is. It's easy to fall into "oh,I have to wear just things like this and nothing else" mindset which I did at the beginning when I first discovered Kibbie because I was lost and that was my only guide but it didn't feel right. While I loved how stuff fitted me, right for the first time, I still didn't felt like myself. From Ellie's guide I've managed to marry my romantic body type and love for alternative styles just by paying attention to fabrics and cuts (and forcing my poor mom to alter some things for me (I really need to learn to saw and alter stuff 😂)) but that also comes from learning what I should be looking for in a garment. It becomes really easy to spot what could fit me when I know what actually works for me, but I didn't know that before and missed it while doing initial research into Kibbie

    • @vildefae
      @vildefae 2 года назад +3

      @@LeaveBritneyalone580 it's kind of ridiculous to be honest. If you are gamine you are the quirky girl, if you are dramatic you are edgy and wear suits, if you are romantic you are a 50s housewife. That's so grossly simplified 😵 I'm glad you found a way to incorporate your true style with your body shape :) 💗 that what's this should be for. Finding clothes that makes us feel good instead of putting on the I'll fitting, copycat fast fashion in the stores crying over why we don't look like the commercials 😭 personally I'm a dramatic/soft dramatic. But my face is super rounded and I like girly fairycore cottagecore style When i read kibbe first i was mortified about "tailored stiff suiit jackets". But now o have too find ways of honouring vertical line etc without having to look like a business man 😅

      I don't think Kibbe or his methodology says that you should dress a certain aesthetic based on body type. He just described best suiting lines. The fact that recommendation on the Internet or aesthetic boards has only one/two aesthetics for each body type doesn't mean you have to dress yourself in those. Use your imagination and creativity.

But after thinking about it I realized mountain is what I tend to and have to be a lot of the time, but it isn’t always what I want to be. I like to be fun and funny and silly. I consider myself a dramatic and i love coloring my hair in extreme colors. It gives me the freedom to wear monochromatic, reduced outfits without going over the top, looking boring or having too many clothes.
    Bright shoes or painted toe nails is essential for me as well. As a creative person I used to get bored by colors and patterns so easily… Changing my hair every half a year consistently without judging myself for being „inconsistent“ and not „grown-up“ has calmed down my wardrobe immensly.
    I‘m 32 now and used to be called a chameleon, because I changed my style so often. Your channel, kibbe etc. has helped me so much to feel confident with my body and my clothing. Colour seasoning and bodytyping didnt help me at all. Thank you!
    (I was litterally always „afraid“ of marrying because I just feel off in dresses, light colors and romantic/femine/boho/dreamy stuff in general. It took me a lot of courage to break with other peoples expectations.)
    I haven‘t fully figured out my style roots yet. Reduced, bold, edgy, definetly playful, practical and a little bit of earthiness…

    Zoey Deschanel is a highly debated lady. Some say she's a FG, others say that she's a SC and that's the only reason she's typed FG is because she wears a lot of stereotypical FG clothing, which she can wear because she has a lot of gamine essence, but if you look closely they're very SC linewise. Now that she's getting a bit older, she dresses less stereotypical gamine-ish and more romantic. Love to hear your thoughts about this

    something I do as a soft gamine to give off a more quirky vibe is to deliberately go against my lines and wear something big and baggy, like an oversized relaxed jacket or a t-shirt. Then I'll combine it with something more structured like a collared shirt and or some pants or skirt with a pattern like tartan or something. I think it gives off a cute playful vibe, because I don't like looking too serious most of the time.

      Funny, I just asked for the complete opposite! I am a soft gamine with ingenue essence and I really don't like how I allways have to worry about not looking like a little girl and wanting to look more mature.
      But I guess that's really where Ellie-Jean's idea of creating an effect comes into play. It means, you don't have to dress like a stereotypical version of your body type. Instead you can have any style you like as long as you make it work for your features and I think that's just amazing!

      @@Goat.Cheese Hey. :) I couldn't let the thought go, so I researched a little more. I'm more of an apple shape, but I do have a big butt so maybe this is helpful to you, too. Here are some of my results, if you're interested. :)
      I think we could achieve a delicate, soft and cute look by combining the flower style root with our lines. For us soft naturals this could be midi length wrap dresses in the summer, maybe with a flowery print. Or drapey shorts with a camisole and maybe an oversized open Shirts tied in the waist on top. I feel like anything wrapped, gathered and draped will look good on us. A lot of ballet clothes look that way, too, this could be a good inspiration.
      My friend with a pear shaped body and a sharp face looks absolutely stunning in long dresses with waist emphasis and a loose skirt. Especially when her hair is long and flowy. Maybe that is something for you too.
      In colder months I like to wear loose, tapered trousers with an elastic or tied waist. Paperbag Trousers or mom jeans are an example of this and I think they work even better on a pear shaped body.
      On top I would wear a cashmere sweater. They are soft and drapey enough that it doesn't make me look like a square. 😄
      To make it look soft and cute one can do a lot with accessories, like a dainty neclace or rings. Fabric covered buttons, straw Bags and hats. A wollen headband (i like thick ones with a twist or knot, as they make my narrow head look wider on top which makes my face look more like a hearshape than a long oval and thus a little more youthful). I also like blanket scarves as they are so big and long that they can make you look a little smaller, while being thin and drapey enough to not look odd.
      I think the rule of making it fit four our lines even goes for embellishments: Instead of puff sleeves opt for flutter sleeves, replace ruffles with volants. Both are more elongated instead of small and round. I think we could even get away with wearing a bow in our hair, as long as it's unconstructed, drapy, big enough but also thin enough. So maybe instead of a hairclip, we could use a scarf or a ribbon tied around the ponytail.
      If you want some more inspiration, I can recommend to search for 'soft natural with ingenue essence' on pinterest. :)

    Soft classic seems to fit me best or true classic. I have a very similar body shape to you, long limbs, bit less rounded, and I'm a soft summer. However, I can veer off. Not into romantic, but into more soft natural or pared down ethereal. Lighter colours suit me. Have to be careful to have a flow and pare down details. When young, I was more 20s style ingenue. In going out of style, the secret, I think, is honour your particular body proportions and stick to them. Divide body into 8 parts that match head length, including head. Long body compared to legs, or short, high waist etc. Balance out proportions with clothing. Emphasise good points. I don't like large frills but small, dainty ones are OK. I also find I can do goth for example if it's flowy and feminine. Too many ales is bad.

    Hmmm. I really appreciate the quick rundown of the dominate lines/features of each type at the beginning of each segment. I think I might actually be a Soft Dramatic. I had been thinking Dramatic Classic, as I have curves for sure but I also have some elongation but technically I'm just above the upper limit of the Classic body type. However, I honestly call pull off bolder things then the Classics can. Not, like, crazy neons or anything avant guard but more then what Classic seems to be able to pull off. But I'm not super angular like a Dramatic usually is as I do have legit, obvious curves. So when you said Soft Dramatic's main featues are angular but having curves on top, that felt more correct.

    Love these videos - it makes it easier to visualize how to create the effect for a given body type.
    Regarding Rihanna: I do think she is actually TR; she's quite soft and rounded, and her height is also part of her yang undercurrent (I also think Taylor Swift is actually SD and not D - she's got sharper bone structure but with yin flesh on top). My take on it is that if Kibbe is meant to be a holistic system, then we shouldn't be eliminating possible image IDs based on absolute height alone - after all, SD is not just a really tall TR! :)

    • @nonjabulomangoro1871
      @nonjabulomangoro1871 Год назад

      Hmm, SD is elongated *and* soft and round. Rihanna definitely has that elongation, you wouldn't think that she's petite. She also has a lot of softness and curve.
      Taylor swift is definitely not dry in her flesh but I wouldn't say that she's lush either, I think she has a balanced fleshiness to her which doesn't add or take away from her drama, and that sort of leaves her with being Dramatic.
      I think with height, it affects everything, you won't really have short arms and legs when you're quite tall, and images *can* distort how you look, and how you look in relation to the world.

    • @kristengilbert9749
      @kristengilbert9749 Год назад

      @@nonjabulomangoro1871 Rihanna has some height, but it's not necessarily what you notice immediately - she lacks the prominent/sharp/chiseled bone structure of an SD and looks delicate, which an SD definitely doesn't. She (imo) looks much better in small, delicate ornateness, whereas large or oversized details tend to overpower her (though she carries them off through force of personality alone!). That's why I agree with Kibbe's typing of her as TR.
      I'm still on the fence about Taylor Swift - she actually does have quite a curvy figure when she gains a little weight, and I think she looks great with waist accommodation and ornatene glamor, but I get the argument for Pure D, too.

    I feel like Zooey Deschanel is a soft classic (though I think she does have gamine essence). If you look at her "twee" looks, just the clothes themselves aren't THAT crazy looking when you compare those outfits to Cindi Lauper's outfits, who has to amp up the quirkiness to look more bold because she actually has a gamine body type (soft gamine, but still).
    In my opinion, on Zooey, they look quirky, cutesy, and/or bold on her because she doesn't have to do much to give off that vibe, but on a fg or possibly sg, hey'd probably look elegant on them. When I see Zooey in sc outfits though, I think she looks very elegant.

    I felt not covered as TR in the video because of Rihanna 😢 If I wear her outfits I would look funny not bold (some of them, some are awesome) 😂😂😂
    I really see she is SD!

    I believe I’m a soft classic too. Now I understand why I can’t pull off the boho prints and stuff but if it’s simpler and say one color family on a pair of pants I can get away with it

    Appreciate the examples for Dramatic and Soft Dramatic! I will add two more possible examples for Dramatic: Tati Gabrielle and the late great Donyale Luna. (Soft Dramatic representation, perhaps, from Lee Da-hee? She has fabulous style inspiration for SDs as a whole, I would say.)

    But isn't the last two a contradiction. The moon cause I'm a bright winter seems too dark. Im not into grave yards etc. But i like adding black & edgy to my bright colours and my flower details. Im just having trouble visualizing it can you go one with these three please.

      @IllustrateLucy 2 года назад

      I’m am similar to you, I think I’m more flamboyant but not sure as a girly detail has always looked well on me, I would never consider myself curvy - I think it can come down to your face/personality essence as well as to weather the more feminine details are in harmony with who you are or whether the sharper ones are. I’m sure it’s ok go pull from both though, we wouldn’t want to be too restricted ☺️

  • @rahmatawfik137

    Love the video, but I'm really confused when it comes to gamins. I'm a soft gamin, and I honestly feel like patterns do look normal on me and not overwhelming, but it's not the style that I go for. I'm more into simple plain with some bold elements. It's very hard to not put gamins having the quirky type style, so sometimes I feel like it's the only style possible or available in videos that explain style. Would love to know someone else's opinion on this.
