    DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.

    I appreciate that the most controversial aspect of this video is the cinnamon stick :) it adds heat, but no cinnamon flavour. Usually I'd add some dried chili peppers too...

    I actually took MicroSet to a college chemistry class many years ago and we analyzed it and concluded it was pure vinegar. Ever since then I’ve been using off the shelf vinegar with exactly the same results as the much more expensive MicroSet. If you don’t believe, give it a try yourself.

    Wow that's some expensive pickling procedure for sure. Another test you may try is spread a bit of this product over a glass sheet, leave to dry and see if it left a film overnight. If there is a film that you can then scratch with a hobby knife then it's proper adhesive. If no film is present, just a stain remains it's a scam, pure solvent, not an adhesive. You may also try setting the decal over pure plastic, for instance a PET bottle, if it sticks - decal adhesive, If not pure vinegar. Chris

    I was on board up to the point where you added the cinnamon stick. I do remember buying a very expensive adhesive remover and while thinking, thats an odd smell, I realized it was WD40 just rebottled at a huge markup.

    • @Panzermeister36

  • @dariosmodelbuilds
    @dariosmodelbuilds 4 месяца назад +1

    Ha Ha. In all honesty, one aspect that I did not know about Micro Set is that it also allows for better 'flow' of decals as you try to slide them exactly where you want. The few videos I checked out when I started getting back into modelling and learning about these products did not make that clear, so while I used Micro Sol all the time, I skipped out on Micro Set. When I tried it for the first time only recently I was very pleased to see how it made decal placement easier. I'll never apply a decal without it now.

    I have seen another modeler who is on RUclips. To bad i cant remember his RUclips site. But he have brought up the same thing vinegar to use on decals. To say it works. And to be honest it does smell like vinegar. Or Tamiya glue. It has been said that the thinners they used for paints. Is the same thing. For me ive never tried it to see. But i do know that theirs a some kinda solvent/ glue can be used like Liquid glue . Remember that micro mark used to sell it. TRX7. I might gotten that wrong. But it works the same. RANDY SAVAGE. Use a solvent for glue. If you ever watch him. The can of blue and white can . Its used for plumbing. Just a can alone is $20 bucks . Or sublight drive he uses that type of can glue i call it. Just like Randy Savage.

Any doubters, just take a couple of sprues and glue them together. I will try the vinegar now. Using spare decals and a paint mule model of course. // BTW great video PM 36

      Take 5 or 7% white vinegar, place in a bowl and put in your freezer, no covering. Every few hours remove the ice formed at top. If you need to know exact ratios, place the ice in a separate bowl and let it warm back to liquid state and measure. Glacial vinegar is over the 35% acetic acid to water ratio. It's really basic chemistry.
      My late wife's pickles were very highly prized for their tastiness. I taught her that freezing trick to get her vinegar over the 15% "canning vinegar" threshold in a much cheaper way than $15 a gallon. 17 or 18% really brings out the spice flavors I'm told. Being allergic to pickles, I can't help you there. Ironic isn't it.
