I have to be detail oriented here cuz even if it sound exagerated i'm in tears of joy watching this for the idk how many times by now; to start with Mr. LePage in perfect Polyphia mode however adapting his creativity according and in conjunction with Howard's register and you making a bombastic back beat (the depth on that kick and body on that snare; the mix brother the mix!!) and afterwards the use of unisons, and after that the building of tension between all of you and on top of that all you infusing creativity in a crescendo of ideas odd times plus the ad-hoc use of silence when required; i can only imaging the refining process when recording all of these ideas with those musicians. I can only imaging how beautiful it must have felt to have and be working with that mix when recording this drum playthrough video, when editing such i bet the feeling of being proud ran through you all. The use of accents and dynamics was other worldly man. Best wishes and thank you for this creation brother. What a representation of our instrument this is.
Thank you so much for such a detail-oriented comment buddy! Yeah this has been an extraordinary effort on everyones part. The intro originally is just electronic drums, but I played it mainly just so this video didn’t slice off the intro or sit around for 1:30 (originally just thinking about the art of video making). My original idea was to film the lamby doll coming into the space while i did the electronic drums somewhere else in the church, and lamby indoctrinated me to playing on the altar. But the setup took too long and this was a gruelling 20hr day even with a total of 10 takes. Mainly as we did a good amount of source tone tweaking and lighting/camera optimization (8hrs of setup). So the intro I actually use a sliced drum head resting on top of the snare to deepen/thicken the drum, its a lovely trick and it meant that it changes the tone of the snare without automating anything on the mix at all. You can even hear the comp switch to a take with it back on for the end of the song, as every audio cut is 100% synced with the video cut, with no audio edits within those take-specific cuts, and 0 use of samples or replacements. I intend to do a walkthru video on the BTS of this video soon with the wonderful photo album my wife captured as a tool for explaining the process and all the other little details :))
I have shivers all over my body but I have no words to describe how beautiful the song, the video and the effort put into this game are, I can only say: pray the lamb! 🛐🐑
You did an amazing job! I enjoy this song so much and I can't wait to hear the other tracks! I always say Massive Monster is spoiling us, and to hear the songs like this... Thank you for being a part in something so awesome! Also never would have imagined that Cult of the Lamb would become one of my favorite games. Amazing how liking one thing can lead you to something else!
Thanks so much! I've been really working on levelling up with my videography this year, and Jake Ten really helped to make it happen. My intention here is to set a new precedent for my videos and make them all feel like this, while retaining full live audio linkage to each video and not editing any of the hits naturally captured in each take (Although I do cut between many takes, switching the audio accordingly whenever I do). I'm thinking about doing a BTS video showing the whole production process. Thumbs up this comment if you wanna see it!
Thank you! Mike came up with the idea and did most of the leg work especially with the edit! I just bought my experience and skills to the table with a great lighting team and insights from Malyan photo too! Dream team ❤
Man, thats so so good. After reading that you and monuments parted ways i was really sad, because i enjoy the music and your drums especially in there so much. Now this vid coming out of nowhere with such power and incredible sound makes me really really happy. Your style is very special and unique! As a drummer myself i want to say: You're an incedible musician. I'd love to see and hear more from you \m/ Much love from germany.
Mike, killing it as always. The least surprising thing to occur :^) Also, random question, if you could bring any band back from the dead what band would you pick? For me it's either Slice the Cake, Native Construct, or Corelia. Maybe The Human Abstract. Cheers m8
Thanks so much Panda! For me, it would be Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, but it would also be very possible that the only way to resurrect a band could be to revert the musicians back to their younger selves, and I have this feeling that things sometimes work out for the better for them when they move on! Having made an emotional connection to their music isn’t tantamount to desiring reunification in this instance for me, but that’s a deeper conversation for another time regarding mortality 😂 But Danza do slap big tho and i’d lose my shit to watch it live.
Heck yeah Mike! You totally slayed this play through. What a treat it’s been to work with you on this project. Let’s do it again some time 😉
Anytime dude, thanks so much for getting me involved on this project! Awesome work with the podcasts and BTS of this EP too!

NGL I taken completely by surprise when I saw one of my favorite drummers was in a Cult of the Lamb song. Awesome drumming as always!
Thank you so much man!! I felt the same when I was invited to be a part of it. This wasn’t on my bingo card for 2024 at all 😂
Nothing but net brother 🙌🏻, another musical triumph to add to your collection 🤙

Phenomenal stuff. Footage is amazing too - video recorder and editor killed it!
Mike edited it himself with the help of Jake Ten :)

Mapex Falcon as I recall
Hey Jo! Mapex Falcon indeed, just have them set up as they come, they feel great!
