I am 70 years old and I love this music and lyrics, I hope many young girls watch this and become inspired to speak out. Thanks Carrie for all you do.
I ❤ Carrie!!
I ❤ Carrie❤❤!!
another one of those songs that is WAAAAAAYYY UNDERRATED. This song gives me freaking chills.
Not really, rolling stones gave it #16 for best songs of the 90s
this is one of those that describes what its like to fall in love
Absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you for saying that. I'm weeping! In a good way...
band is wholly underrated.
This album was played over and over in a difficult time in my life. I got through it.
Thank God for Sub Pop, K Recs, KRS, Matador, Merge, 4ad and all the other great indie labels of the 80s and 90s.
YES!! 🙏🙌
Don't forget Righteous Babe.
Dischord!

Seriously tho ! Got me through so much and gave me something to aspire to musically. Dont forget saddle creek because they technically did start in the late 90s. But also fat wrechords, lookout , broken records and epitaph records to shout out to the DIY indie punk scene of the 80s and mostly 90s to current. I find out more online from other fans than from anywhere else I swear!
While working on an Alaska fishery processing vessel, one of the deckhands played lots and lots of Sleater-Kinney...this was my introduction song to this wonderful band. Couldn't wait for the end of the season so I could get the CD!
This song is a masterpiece. Everything from the vocals, lyrics, guitar riff, drums. Pure genius
My fav sleater-kinney song
Sleater's pièce de résistance. A masterwork of build-build-build and resolve.
Emotional and powerfully exultant.
Sublime.
This song changed my trajectory. I was 16 and saw this video on MTV 120 minutes. I felt so connected to it. Listening to this pulls me back to a different place and time. It’s the pang of nostalgia before I became numb to the grind.
the intro's guitar riff just...... im glad i found this band.
This song gives me the chills. Its that good. Upbeat drums and vocals hit you in the gut and the heart.
This song builds such dizzying, swirling momentum, fall down on the world and then... GET UP! An absolute an all-time fave cut. Nothing else like this.
RIP Ed Siemienkowicz. Thank you for introducing me to all the coolest people, songs, art, movies and music. Love always! ❤️
I have them tattooed, on my arm. I saw, and met them 3 times. They were sweet, and kind as can be!!!❤❤ They are the Greatest live band ever!! Corin's voice is a Marshall stack, and Carrie, and Janet were magnificent!!!
Can't get enough of it! So thankful they are reunited and touring!
the finest band there ever was and ever will be.
This song is incredible, I can't believe I've never listened to it before
Its my first time to. Relaxing in the afternoon to some Sleater Kinney. This is so dreamy.
Not just Sleater-Kinney's best video, this is one of the best music videos ever.
20 years later and this is still the song I request to play at my funeral wherever that may be. Put me in one of those eco burial pods and give myself back to the earth
EXACTLY!
They could just wrap you up n put u in the ground, it's cheap and natural...
Also my funeral song. And it will be soon.
Just got the diagnosis today.
Love this song. Love to Janet Carrie and Corin forever
@@davekat are you still alive?
@@maevacousin7755 I'm Dave's son, he passed away peacefully under medical supervision on November 10th.
This reminds me so much of heavens to Betsy! Corins voice hasn't changed!
This song makes my eyes water...Sooooo passionate
Some songs just hit you instantly
This ain't one of 'em.
finally a properly mastered version of the video :)
This music video's story line was inspired by the Canadian film "Exotica" (1994) directed by Atom Egoyan. Man becomes obsessed with a stripper who was part of a volunteer search party to help find his missing & presumed dead daughter. He's obsessed & feels a strong connection with her for 2 reasons, because she's the one who found the body & she used to be his daughters babysitter.
i love this song, used to have it on single back in the day. great great song
And when the body finally starts to let go
Let it all go at once
Not piece by piece.
But like a whole bucket of stars
Dumped into the universe.
Whoooh! Watch it go!
Good-bye small hands, good-bye small heart
Good-bye small head
My soul is climbing tree trunks
And swinging from every branch
They're calling on me
They're calling on me
They're calling on me
(I am fine)
They're calling on me
They're calling on me
They're calling on me
(I'm not fine)
Do you think I'm an animal? Am I not?
Do you like fur
(I'm alright)
Do you wanna come over
Are we captive only for a short time
(I'm not right)
Is there splendor, I'm not ashamed
Desire shoots through me like birds singing
(The way you move no ocean's waves were ever as fluid)
They're calling on me
They're calling on me
They're calling on me
(I am fine)
They're calling on me
They're calling on me
They're calling on me
(I'm not fine)
I hit the mark
I target moon, I target sky, I target sun
Fall down on the world
Fall down on the world
Fall down on the world before it falls on you
Like beggars, like dogs
Like whores, us all
(I'm alright)
Like beggars, like dogs
Like stars, us all
(I'm not right)
Shoot straight for my heart
(And when you were near no sky was ever quite so clear)
Shoot straight for my heart
Like stars, so small
Like us when we fall
(I am fine)
Like beggars, like whores
Like lovers
Oh, get up too far
Oh, get up too far
Like stars above
Look down so far
Like stars above
Look down at us all
Yes! Thks! You're osom
@@jorehb I liked it better when line four was "like a cold fuckin star". It still is to me. I was there when this first came out. It was the aftermath of the Grunge/Nirvana spill over.
Nope! It's "cold fuckin star" on line four. It was blurred out on the radio and early live video's.
(And I'm not scared)
@@davidrule1335 I've just read this. I didn't know that. Is way far better the old way
God i love the Northwest. True talent comes from my region

Goodbye small hands - 2020
MAGA2020
More like MaTGA 2020. Make Trump Go Away.
ugh favorite song ever
9/10 times. I resent the bridge in a rock song. This is not one of those times. So lovely.
Great band!
If this song isn't sung at my funeral in myremembrance (with a live band, but the audience singing it on the way out of the service), than i will haunt each and every single person i've ever known....and not in a fun way
2021 and I still love it!
My favorite jam of theirs
Where are the fans at?
November 2018
This is one of those bands that should've gotten more recognition but didn't
I've been saying that for 2 decades now. Most people just don't 'get' it.
@@bluegregory6239 I think that many people just want to listen to the easiest most accessible thing. Lyrics they don't have to think about, things that are so easily relatable they don't have to question.
My favorite Ketamine Song❤❤!
Fall down on the world before it falls on you. 🤘
Possibly the best rock drummer in riot girl history ???
No question about it my mind. Janet is god tier.
No question about it in my mind. Janet is god tier.
+choochoo1236 Um, possibly one of the rock drummers in history, period??
❤❤💪❤❤
Janet is a beast. I would venture to say that Carrie is possibly the best guitarist in RIOT GRRRL history as well 😉
Never heard before,Great
Gratitude... selfless music
Sleater-Kinney will always be the best band

Back In Ketamine Therapy!! I am surely up!!!!!❤❤❤

so true for me I had so much respect for the indie laber kill rock stars even though Ive always consider matador records and sub pop far above rubies but this ladies teached me how to really enjoy music this song from their memorable lp the hot rock will always get me through this he he
Not Human
I personally preferred Matador and Sub-Pop myself as well, the former of which Sleater Kinney is now on.
I remember this was on 120 minutes on MTV.... I recorded it on a treasured vhs
I gotchu
somebody knows where are those space/universe videos from?
jesus christ man, this is the sleater-kinney for me.
This kind of sounds like a Sonic Youth song.
Absolutely what I was thinking. You said it.
maybe some bikini kill
Jacqui Swartz speaking ofb which, has anyone read Kim Gordons book Girl In A Band, which just came out, and which is absolutely incredible.
Satiric Satyr King It is. The beginning is from Tunic (Song for Karen). The Sonic Youth song about Karen Carpenter.
+Satiric Satyr King i was just thinking the same thing!!!! the monologuing totally has some whispers of kim in it.
300,000 of these views are from me 😇
Try getting hold of a 7" single. very very rare
Is this the music video that Miranda July directed?
Paulina Jose yup!
fall down on the world
they only played stuff from their lp all hands on the bad one plus midway through the show someone got up on stage and got his ass kicked out from the show hope someone who was there can attest to this
Thank you RUclips recommendation
GEt Up!

Comedian Fred Armisen (from Portlandia) brought me here. He said on the following link that this song Get Up is his favorite song of all time. Here is him saying it quied up to it...ruclips.net/video/FJ_O6q0RpiQ/видео.html
agreed Conan
Almost got killed at dangerous crosswalks several times because this made me feel invulnerable.
One of my favorite songs from the 90s good memories. She looks like kourtney kardashian
2:18 flying nug? 🌳
the opening sounds like sonic youth, when i first heard this on shuffle i thought it was really fucking great sonic youth for a sec
Fred Armisen
The economy, the economy, the economy! Oh oh oh oh...
Thought that that was the line for maybe 15 years until I came to read the lyrics today...
Am I the only one that hears a bit of Sonic Youth in this song?
Yeah, sonic youth and Sleater Kinney sounded a lot alike in my opinion, except that SY music was...less engaging
As a huge fan of both bands, yes this sounds similar to a blend of Daydream Nation and Goo era SY. Can almost hear Kim's Tunic monologue at the beginning.
Does Janet Weiss ever write or sing in this band?
Yeah, she does some backing vocals, and she helps arrange the songs.
Not anymore
