I am trying to make this an annual thing - July is really the only time when we can make it work cuz then storms start kicking up and i am crazed with beach reports etc... so maybe next summer! :D We just went back again yesterday and had a blast!

How are you thinking of constructing your jingle shell wind chime? Seems it might be difficult to drill those without breaking them. I have a little bag of jingles, too, and I was thinking... i have some thin kevlar cord, heavier than thread... I think if I tied knots along a piece of it at irregular intervals, I could glue each knot to the back of a jingle shell. (The knot would give a little more surface for the glue rather than just gluing the string to the back. But I'm interested in hearing your ideas!!

How close to the jetty can you park before everything is blocked off? We're in the area 7/21-7/30 and would love to visit our happy place. I assume shelling is still available south of the jetty if we're willing to walk?

there are about 40 spots blocked off on the gulf side immediately near the jetty, including the handicap spaces. on that street there is parking on the ocean and on the house side... and there are spaces on the house side. there's also spaces at the dog beach side too. go get at the rocks, you will need to park over at dog beach side and walk around the bottom ...
the rocks themself have a fencing around the ROCKS because the dredge pipe is going over them BUT the flats by the rocks and the lil beach there is accessible if you come in from the dog beach side. Hope that helps!

So are we really not allowed to pick up the coral that we see on the beach, and why not?

wellllll funny you should mention that...
yesterday we went to PAG to SHELL TALK WITH GARY - He is a master Naturalist and does a free talk once a month at Paradise Grill.
Gary says the small broken pieces on the beach are clearly not alive nor viable and that they CAN be collected.... i contacted Fish and Wildlife a few weeks back, and never got an answer from them so i may have to actually drive up to their office and get a definitive answer.....and that i will have to schedule cuz they aren't real close by...
I CAN'T ADVISE OTHERS WHAT TO DO >>>YET>>>
But as for me, i have been a fossil junky a while now, and i can tell by looking at many pieces if i have fossil stuff or not most of the time ....so if I find fossil stuff, then yes i will keep. We get a lot of Sepastrea Marylandica & Occulina Sarasotana fossil corral here and they are long extinct

I noticed last time I went to PAG there were mostly broken shells and bivalves. Have you seen any conches, cones etc there?

@@dalegruder2363 in my last video I found a lot of bivalves but John and I went back a couple days later and found baby whlks and baby fighting conchs and we gave away a baby horse conch to a tourist so yes they are around… in the video I just posted people were pulling fighting conchs and bigger whelks while snorkeling at higher tide level so yes they are there
