That’s a bed warmer. The help used to pick up some coals from the fire place and put it into the pan, (it had a lid) and then they put it between the sheets and slid it around all over the b3d to warm the bed up.

Really enjoyed this Catherine. Old Belleek pieces can be more valuable than the new stuff they're producing. Love car boot sales! I used to go to them all the time when I lived in the UK. I did one once, many many years ago (1994) and made £90 which I was delighted with. Haven't been to any since I came back to Ireland! Love the candlesticks and I also follow Mr Carrington thanks to you as I found him on your channel.

Yes, I do. Last year I spent a month in England and Scotland. I drove 3,200 miles in that time and the only anxious time was the circle around London and when there was LOTS of traffic on the highways….😊

Love a good rummage at a car boot sale ! You got some nice pieces I also like stoneware jars I have some that came with jam or mincemeat in when my late father in law had a bakers and confectioners in the 50s and 60s they look lovely wirh flowers in them I used to work at small bee museum in the 1919s and their Heather honey was always my favourite but a lot of people find it too strong if you have a spoonful of local honey each day it can help with hay fever 😊❤
I have collected Beleek items for over 35 years! The Irish town these items were made in had a very special clay that could not be sourced anywhere else. It gave translucent, delicate items no one else could create. As it gained in populariry by collectors around the world...prices went soaring into hundreds of dollars...my one teapot was a wedding gift at a price of $400! There are christmas ornaments, vases, cups and saucers, creamer and sugar. Etc. Still valued, especially early pieces! The designers visitor center would be a WONDERFUL educational opportunity and of course...teatme would be SO FUN! The town was losing its source of this special clay...and talk was it would have to close. But luckily another source of this clay was found in another area of land not so far away. There are also different Beleek stamps based on age of pieces. You will no doubt, love the day trip!
I sold some of my things on some carboot sales some years ago. It was great fun (apart from the early rising😵) and I sold quite a few things. Defenitely do it together with a friend though. So you can leave your table sometimes to have a look around (or go to the loo😊) while the other one looks after your things. It's nice to have something to sit on, a flappable table and an umbrella or parasol against the elements and to keep things, yourselves and buyers dry. I would love to see a video from you about that next spung or summer - chosing pieces, preparing, transporting, setting up the boot, chatting and so on. That would be great! I love the flower print you bought. So beautiful!! 🤩
Yes, I used to love doing car boot sales, but it was hard work on my own. I loved selling the things, and chatting to all the people. This was a long time ago now, when folk had more disposable income. It also depends on where you are of course, as up country in England - nearer to London - would obviously be more sucessful than down in the West Country where I live now. So glad you bought the carnation flower picture,I was struck how lovely it was at the market,also candlesticks,my Irish mother brought a small pair from Ireland as a young woman, they were 100yrs old then,my brother and I would see who could polish them the brightest,I'm 77 and seeing your haul brought memories back,bless you .❤

Hi Catherine! I am a long time subscriber but I don't think I have ever commented on your videos. You are a delight to watch and enjoy the variety of content you present. I am an American from the state of Arkansas. I spent a week in Ireland in 2015. I wish I could have gone to a car boot sale while I was there. Our days were full trying to see as much of Ireland as we could. When you picked up the Belleek, I immediately recognized it and was so hoping you were going to get it because it does have value, plus it's green! My fav color. While I was in Ireland, I got to tour the Waterford Crystal factory and that was fantastic. Maybe someday I will get to go back and visit the Belleek factory as well as see Scotland. It is the only country left I haven't been to in the UK. God Bless!
Oh you found some great finds and great prices! I was in Dublin beginning in August. I’m so sorry for the loss of your Mum! 😢 I know how that is. My daughter got married on the 9th of August to a great fellow from Dublin. Funny, the met over Covid, cause of Pandemic, in Spain as he was flying back to Ireland but Ireland closed and had a friend he crashed with. His friend was the boyfriend of my daughter’s roommate. What are the odds. Now they are married. My daughter was in Spain for the ESL / English teaching program. She never returned home. So I’ll be visiting Dublin often and hope I can visit a boot sale.

Catherine you're car boot haul was lovely. The picture complimented the one in your bedroom. You have a good eye. I have only done one car boot and made £100 in a couple of hours. I was selling, clothes, shoes and bags, having had a massive clear out. Left overs were donated to a charity shop. It was fun and I did meet a few characters. I follow Mr Carrington too after having watched a video of yours a good while ago.

Fun vlog. Heather honey so the best! My Uncles bees produced heather honey (north Devon). He died when my mum was pregnant with me. We only finished the last of his honey 5yrs ago.. so his barrels of honey fed my Aunt and our family for 45yrs! As a kid I loved going in my Aunts basement full of golden barrels of honey. Definately "motorway anxiety".. my friend has it. She only used the back roads to get places. I always get nervous before a big drive, but once I'm on the road I love road trips. Hi, I’ve ‘done’ about 3 car boots, the last one I made £120.00 My house is a tip whilst I store up/collect my sale goods, but well worth it, what’s left I go straight to the local tip or charity shops, I’m NOT taking it back home 😂 The large saucepan I think is an old bed warmer, looks like the lids missing. Unsure if it was filled with hot water or hot coals and used to be slid under the blankets to warm the bed. Hot water bottles from back in the day! We’ll be stopping at old junk shops, antique shops and anything else that looks interesting. My husband and I used to do this, but since he passed I just stopped. I helped my daughter at a car boot sale, it was a bit scary at first because people surrounded the car before we even parked. They were looking through the boot and boxes before we even unloaded. It calmed down though and we enjoyed it. Made quite a lot of money too.
Never done a car boot sale but have done a few market stall. It was taxing but a lot of fun. I do have to say the early mornings and erratic weather are the least enjoyable.
I just love your channel and I'm so glad I discovered it. You do all the things in the home that I enjoy and I too love gardening. I'm on steroids at the moment and they space me out so I can't do gardening, ironing etc as I'm not safe, so I'm watching you instead😂🤣

I have done car boots selling my personal stuff and people want it for nothing. I was asking for a £1 and people wanted it for 50p. A great video 👍

Hi Catherine, You got some lovely bargains! A lot of years ago I did a carboot, we arrived very early in the morning found a space then just as we were taking the items from the car people were opening our bags and boxes! I was quite annoyed and told them so 😡 Apparently they were dealers, the cheek of it! I found doing a carboot was a quick way to sell but things were sold cheaply or you were taking it all home at the end of the day. Thankyou for a great video ❤

Such great finds! I especially love the cottage art piece and the Belleek pieces. I went to Waterford when in Southern Ireland late 90s and loved it. Would be wonderful to visit Belleek also. We have had garage and yard sales which are similar to your boot sales. Usually made out very well. Just remember that buyers want to pay very little. Also, I’ve found my driving anxiety to have gotten worse as I’ve gotten older and as a passenger. Might also have to do with more vehicles on the road and driving ability of others. So enjoyed this video. ❤🦩

Hi Catherine! I am a long time subscriber but I don't think I have ever commented on your videos. You are a delight to watch and enjoy the variety of content you present. I am an American from the state of Arkansas. I spent a week in Ireland in 2015. I wish I could have gone to a car boot sale while I was there. Our days were full trying to see as much of Ireland as we could. When you picked up the Belleek, I immediately recognized it and was so hoping you were going to get it because it does have value, plus it's green! My fav color. While I was in Ireland, I got to tour the Waterford Crystal factory and that was fantastic. Maybe someday I will get to go back and visit the Belleek factory as well as see Scotland. It is the only country left I haven't been to in the UK. God Bless!

Oh you found some great finds and great prices! I was in Dublin beginning in August. I’m so sorry for the loss of your Mum! 😢 I know how that is. My daughter got married on the 9th of August to a great fellow from Dublin. Funny, the met over Covid, cause of Pandemic, in Spain as he was flying back to Ireland but Ireland closed and had a friend he crashed with. His friend was the boyfriend of my daughter’s roommate. What are the odds. Now they are married.
My daughter was in Spain for the ESL / English teaching program. She never returned home. So I’ll be visiting Dublin often and hope I can visit a boot sale.

Catherine you're car boot haul was lovely. The picture complimented the one in your bedroom. You have a good eye. I have only done one car boot and made £100 in a couple of hours. I was selling, clothes, shoes and bags, having had a massive clear out. Left overs were donated to a charity shop. It was fun and I did meet a few characters. I follow Mr Carrington too after having watched a video of yours a good while ago.

Fun vlog. Heather honey so the best! My Uncles bees produced heather honey (north Devon). He died when my mum was pregnant with me. We only finished the last of his honey 5yrs ago.. so his barrels of honey fed my Aunt and our family for 45yrs! As a kid I loved going in my Aunts basement full of golden barrels of honey.
Definately "motorway anxiety".. my friend has it. She only used the back roads to get places. I always get nervous before a big drive, but once I'm on the road I love road trips.

I can definitely relate to that motorway anxiety! Once I’m on the road, it gets better too, but the nerves beforehand are so real. And car boot sales are such a great way to declutter. I’m sure you'll have a successful one next year!

My house is a tip whilst I store up/collect my sale goods, but well worth it, what’s left I go straight to the local tip or charity shops, I’m NOT taking it back home 😂
The large saucepan I think is an old bed warmer, looks like the lids missing. Unsure if it was filled with hot water or hot coals and used to be slid under the blankets to warm the bed. Hot water bottles from back in the day!

What beautiful treasures you found. My sister and I are leaving in a couple of days for a road trip to Virginia here in the US. I helped my daughter at a car boot sale, it was a bit scary at first because people surrounded the car before we even parked. They were looking through the boot and boxes before we even unloaded. It calmed down though and we enjoyed it. Made quite a lot of money too.
Never done a car boot sale but have done a few market stall. It was taxing but a lot of fun. I do have to say the early mornings and erratic weather are the least enjoyable.
I just love your channel and I'm so glad I discovered it. You do all the things in the home that I enjoy and I too love gardening. I'm on steroids at the moment and they space me out so I can't do gardening, ironing etc as I'm not safe, so I'm watching you instead😂🤣

I have done car boots selling my personal stuff and people want it for nothing. I was asking for a £1 and people wanted it for 50p. A great video 👍

A lot of years ago I did a carboot, we arrived very early in the morning found a space then just as we were taking the items from the car people were opening our bags and boxes!
I was quite annoyed and told them so 😡
Apparently they were dealers, the cheek of it!
I found doing a carboot was a quick way to sell but things were sold cheaply or you were taking it all home at the end of the day.

Such great finds! I especially love the cottage art piece and the Belleek pieces. I went to Waterford when in Southern Ireland late 90s and loved it. Would be wonderful to visit Belleek also. We have had garage and yard sales which are similar to your boot sales. Usually made out very well. Just remember that buyers want to pay very little. Also, I’ve found my driving anxiety to have gotten worse as I’ve gotten older and as a passenger. Might also have to do with more vehicles on the road and driving ability of others. So enjoyed this video. ❤🦩
