Since i learned about Dex maybe 2 years ago, i have been using the function as mobile laptop, i use it privately but also for work. Just so much nicer than carrying around a laptop, doing teams meetings, general office apps like powerpoint and excel and ofcourse mail correspondance on my phone. And i am even using the old Galaxy S9+ for +3 years now. And my biggest issue is memory space because i run dual simcard, and then i have no room for additional sd card. Instead i now got a small ssd drive i use for space when needed.
Randomly clicked onto this video while I was researching Samsung Dex and I thought I was watching a video made by a channel that has 100k++ subs. Only after watching the video that I realised that it has only 700 subs?! The content and quality was so good and complete that I had no idea it was coming from a small RUclipsr. Always love this kind of feature a lot. While it doesn't completely replace my Windows desktop, I always use it when travelling light. The fact that I can always connect it to the hotel's TV using an HDMI cable and have a PC-like experience from the bed is an absolute solid win.
Hi Faris, so true. That is exactly how I have used it in the past as well. Just carrying a mouse and a USB c adapter to Hotels. Removing their set top box wire and attaching.

One major advantage of wireless dex that is worth mentioning is that you can still use your phone as usual while someone else can play in dex mode on the monitor.
You mean it will be virtually two separate devices ? For example, you can use your phone for call or message and you use it as computer in monitor as well ?
Where Samsung Dex shines is in tablet form factor. I use a Tab S6 Lite (2022) which has Dex support and that has significantly balanced my reliance on my bulky Acer Nitro. The only time I use my laptop is when gaming or heavy browsing. Rest all is singlehandedly managed by Dex 😃
I'm going to buy an s20+ for two reasons. Dex and SD cards. I was going to go with an iPhone 14. Then I saw Dex and it just makes sense as I will use it like that a lot!
One of the main reasons I moved to Samsung with a S22 ultra 12 gb ram , I m able to use it for my work as if I was in my windows laptop and on top of that I can use the smartphone independently. It's just amazing.

I didn't know this, that N8 came with an HDMI adapter, interesting. But DeX is so much more than mirroring, the multi tasking feature with upto 6 apps opening at the same time is very cool and allows productivity which is impossible on a mobile device form factor.

Hi Phillip. Glad you enjoyed it. Apple is more interested in selling a Mac to us than letting iPhone become a Mac or pc. And I think if they implement something like this now, then it will happen for iPad first, as iPad has the same M1 chip powering it.
I've been using DeX mode on the Tab S8. It's okay, but if Apple added it to the iPad it would be better by default. Apps wise and overall workload thanks to ios's perfectly tuned experience out of the box. OneUI isn't there yet.
True! Hopefully, in WWDC this year, there are some overlapping apps between Mac and IPad OS. Both iPad pro and IPad Air now have m1 chip in it. So it might actually happen this year.

Had got NexTouch. Barely used after initial testing. battery wouldn't charge morethan 1% when I actually started to try it out. Out of the box charger was also faulty. Also Not sure if it would stand the time for multiple Phone upgrades. I can already see screen corners slightly blacking out with gradual increase. APPROPRIATE replacement spare availability is a concern considering long term usability that product declares But the idea is definitely awesome.
Hi, really intrigued about using the DeX after watching your video. I believe you're from India. So can you please guide me about the hub that I can use to connect the wireless keyboard mouse or I can charge the phone while using the DeX just because my monitor won't support wireless cast or type-c display?
₹4500 hub ₹2500 BT KB ₹15K Full HD Touch Enabled Portable External display with battery Together covers almost the price of my NEXDOCK already Got em in a convenient clamshell form factor too. Check out the new wireless one.
Love from Pakistan Very helpful I not afford a PC or laptop I have samsung note 10 plus I have a moniter already I want edit vedios like PC with Dex Can I use filmora in dex version like pc
Yes absolutely, or even try out VN Video Editor which I have shared in the video. You will find a lot of good features there, exactly like how you would on an iMovie software on Mac computer or even more.
Stick with a normal screen. The wireless function (which would mainly be what you'd like to do on Dex.) IS as delay as crap. Might as well buy a cheap normal monitor and fork for Microsoft's Miracast dongle. You'd get faster performance and picture decent for way cheaper. I still have a old Miracast from Microsoft and it's WAY better on the HDMI then on the M5 cast itself in speed.
In ten years time, people will be coming back to this video to reminice about the times when they used to use a laptop AND a phone, instead of just using their phone for everything, and DeX is just the beginning...
I can see how everyday consumers will actually do that Tom, may be even lesser than 10 years. But there is will always a niche, who will need more power for Professional tasks and will still depend on something more.

Phones are mini PCs now. We need more manufacturers to do something like dex, all that raw power is going to waste if all you’re doing on a phone is taking photos, RUclips and social media.
On behalf of all the rough Gadget users including BREAKERs n MIS-Placers, I Wishfully await these features to be feasible and available on budget kings rather than flagship killers so as to truly experience Mobile PC without having torn pockets by replacements or repairs
Been using Galaxy Note 8 for years, that thing effectively replaced my laptop as my works revolve around typing documents. My only problem until now is the a small dead pixel but that's it.
Brotip for gaming: switch off your phone's screen. It uses a lot of power and therefore generates heat. You'll have considerably less heat and throttling problems.
Great video. I am a long-time Apple user and bought a Galaxy Tab S6 Lite to try DeX out before investing in the S8. Only one problem, I can't connect my Samsung Smart TV to run it. I can mirror but when I hit DeX, I get a onscreen message stating that it cannot do it. I'm on latest software. Any ideas on how to solve the problem, please?
Hi Yanik, DeX is available on Galaxy S9, S10, S20, S21, Note8, Note9, Note10, Note 20, and Z Fold series phones, and Galaxy Tab S4, S5e, S6, and S7 series tablets. As S8 is not supported hence you aren't able to do it. What is surprising is that you are getting an option for Dex
Hi Owen. Yes, Note8 does support it, but Samsung Galaxy S8 doesn't support it. In my revert to Yanik, I did mention that Note 8 is supported. It is interesting that you prefer it on Note10. Is it because DEX performs faster for you on Note 10 than Note 8?
@Tech Takeaway The 1UI4 and Andriod 12 on the Note 10+ fixed many of the Andriod 9 and 1UI1 problems on the Note 8. A faster processor doesn't hurt as well!
So sweet of you Kalani to leave this message. It is a start, just since 7 months. And I am still learning, so hopefully metrics and all will do better after few more months. Right now I am just glad to recieve messages like this 😊
Great video buddy. Recently got Nexdock 360 and I am never going back to traditional laptops etc. I have twitted to Sundar Pichai to enable a desktop mode in Google devices. You are absolutely right, that's the future. I rent out VM in Azure when I need to edit heavy videos. I have a permanent free Ubuntu machine in Oracle cloud . This is the future. Look forward to your awesome videos.
You can actually do some fairly heavy video editing right on the phone with LumaFusion, KineMaster, or PowerDirector. LumaFusion is arguably the best one and it's actually optimized for DeX. With all due respect, please don't repeat the classic mistake that many others make by thinking "it's just a phone". The phone is very powerful, about as powerful as a midrange laptop with premium integrated graphics. You shouldn't need any assistance from the cloud unless you're doing very heavy stuff.
Hi! Not that bad but the controller passage is kinda misleading u can really connect every bt controller but !!! The cod mobile supports only ps and xbox controllers and even other games work the same way... ps ; try out clipstudio it works on dex and u can even connect wacom tablet for drawing.
I wanted to ask about docking stations. If you use one - Aren't you worried about overcharging the battery/shortening its life? Since it's charging constantly. Or about connecting your phone to an external monitor (on daily basis). I found no workaround for this issue saldy and want to use an external monitor that has OLED touchscreen. Couldn't find anything that had a battery (monitors with batteries), OLED and a price that is not something bad completely. I was thinking about Magedok 13,3 fullhd OLED touchscreen. Close enough to Asus zenscreen OLED 13,3 (can't get the later in my country for a long time from now still). I have some questions, maybe you can help. 1. Firstly, Does plugging the power source (to the monitor) stop phone battery drainage? Does it even slow it? I watched reviews, but all they say is that plugging the monitor I can just boost the brightness. So I'm worried it would still consume my phone's battery even when I connect my monitor to energy source (using it's charger). 2. Secondly, if instead the phone is ALSO CHARGED when monitor uses its own charger - Is there any way for me to stop charging my phone when it's not needed? Having the phone charging constantly is very destructive for the battery in smartphones (I had one exploding in the past from being charged too often). 3. If it's not possible to stop charging the phone (when monitor is charging with its own charger) - Can I disconnect the charger from monitor and run the monitor using my phone only (with my phone's battery as the only energy source)? Then I could simply drain the battery to the moment where charging is okay once more (and connect monitor to its charger again). 4. Here I'm worried that 4k OLED could have a bigger energy consumption and won't run with my phone without plugging the monitor into its charger, as I'm interested in either their fullhd or 4k option (I use it pretty close to my face and do very detilaed work so even with small screen it still matters to me). To make your task easier - My phone is Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. It has battery 4500 mAh (if this info helps you with anything).

5:06 For the best gaming experience on samsung dex, if you are a subscriber of Xbox GamePass Ultimate and if you have a good internet connection don't forget that you can enjoy xbox cloud games (streaming) massively expanding the variety of games available to play
Nice thanks for sharing!
But can you play xbox pc gamepass games as well
Got Nexdock wireless last month. Using with Samsung s22 ultra. That's the future. Looking forward to see you review such devices.
APPROPRIATE replacement spare availability is a concern considering long term usability that product declares
But the idea is definitely awesome.
What about the video streaming apps like Netflix, Hotstar and Prime Video? They work on dex or not????
Hi, really intrigued about using the DeX after watching your video. I believe you're from India. So can you please guide me about the hub that I can use to connect the wireless keyboard mouse or I can charge the phone while using the DeX just because my monitor won't support wireless cast or type-c display?
Hi Pradipta, checkout this one, there is plenty you can use this for. Cable creation amzn.eu/d/imVqK52
@@TechTakeaway Thank you.
₹4500 hub
₹2500 BT KB
₹15K Full HD Touch Enabled Portable External display with battery
Together covers almost the price of my NEXDOCK already
Got em in a convenient clamshell form factor too.
Check out the new wireless one.
Thanks for making video on dex mode
Does the Capcut application support?
Great video! What's that keyboard in the beginning?
Love from Pakistan
Very helpful
I not afford a PC or laptop
I have samsung note 10 plus
I have a moniter already
I want edit vedios like PC with Dex
Can I use filmora in dex version like pc
Yes absolutely, or even try out VN Video Editor which I have shared in the video. You will find a lot of good features there, exactly like how you would on an iMovie software on Mac computer or even more.
The real populous who actually will benefit from a Mobile Desktop Setup on a budget phone that is
Can i use apps like adobe ,after effects, capcut like apps in it
Hi. Does anyone know any hub/dock that supports PPS so that usb pause delivery can be used during dex?
Can we use extensions on browsers?
also your video is amazing
Hi Maulik, no chrome extensions aren't available in Dex mode.
Yes you can, try kiwi browser.
Awesome, thanks for sharing Marcio!

I love using Dex, but I prefer using a bluetooth mouse over the "phone trackpad".
Any thoughs about reviewing the samsung Dex environment on the M5 and M7 smartmonitors from samsung?
Hi Augusto, I wish. But I would have access to these monitor yet. May be sometime later.
Could you share the link too verify exact product. Would like to try with my MIRACASTless NexDock lol
In ten years time, people will be coming back to this video to reminice about the times when they used to use a laptop AND a phone, instead of just using their phone for everything, and DeX is just the beginning...
I can see how everyday consumers will actually do that Tom, may be even lesser than 10 years.
But there is will always a niche, who will need more power for Professional tasks and will still depend on something more.
yeah and where will they get big screen from? xd
@@tomzpl portable screen I got 16' portable monitor for 300 (mostly used for servers etc, but it has hdmi and USB c outputs.) if people are creative enough everything is possible
Few words would be... Cloud, stream, remote PC, VR glasses...
On dex mode can i use google chrome webstore for add extension in browsers. I really need to before purchase a monitor. Thanks
Can we use VDI on the DEX ?
Is it possible to connect 2 monitors is s24 ultra?
Loved your video, I'm starting to make DEX my main work computer(as a lawyer, Mostly Microsoft Word and internet browsing) but It still lacking some security measurement like a USB token we have to connect to our Courtroom online services or the ability to sign documents(though I can go around using Adobe PDF solution)
Nice Augusto, thanks for sharing!
Are you able to use the middle mouse click through the TeamViewer on Dex
Hey, when I connect Dex through my USB cable, I don’t get an option of my phone as a track pad. Can you help ?
Thanks .. 😊
I am buying an S20 just for this feature :)
Wow nice to know!
sweet spot Dex device s20FE 5g with SD865 on wayy.
Amazing video. Glad you showed teamviewer ... is there any lag using it? It's something I was considering. Also do you recommend any specific phones for using Dex in its best capacity?
Awesome video and insights!
Can we use old printer in dex
Can you make one test for me. I em low vision pearson and i use talkback. I use android magnifier when i need larger text or image. How will be with DEX. When you use dex option with external tv or monitor, support magnifier on tv when is dex mode? I just use iphone directly with hdmi to tv and i watch youtube video. For other i can not i can not see on tv. I have on my pc magnifier with voice. But android i dont have on computer. Soo i wish use android with my big tv. Thank you very much.
Dear Saten, it is a mix bag of things. Magnification in Dex mode is disabled, but increasing Mouse size is available.
Large and darker font option is available but it did not really change much when I picked it.
Talk back feature works normally just how it does on the phone in Dex mode.
I am placing some screenshots of what you would see when you go in Dex mode and see these options.

Hope this helps, and thanks for reaching out!
Great explanation. On Tab S6 lite here and dexpanding.
Btw does something like Dex also available for iPhones? 🤔
Hi Sahil, no, not at all !! That's the fun, and Samsung seems to be underplaying this so much.
Great videos and editing!
☺️👍
Just located the dex on my phone. Trying to connect to my TV now..
Nice video
Great! I am sure you will enjoy DeX. If it doesn't operate well wirelessly then use an USBc to HDMi cable. It will work very smoothly then.
I can't get my S24 FE connecting to usb-c on Scepter Kado, is the fe the part that doesn't have ucb-c alt mode?
Been using Galaxy Note 8 for years, that thing effectively replaced my laptop as my works revolve around typing documents. My only problem until now is the a small dead pixel but that's it.
Brotip for gaming: switch off your phone's screen. It uses a lot of power and therefore generates heat. You'll have considerably less heat and throttling problems.
which s-series phone do you use for dex, btw really nice video you converted almost everything about the dex. And yes very few people are aware of it
Great video.
@@TechTakeaway I have the Tab S6 (Lite), I am only considering the new Tab S8.
@@TechTakeaway DEX is also available on the S8 Note. I own 1 and use DEX on it every now and then although I prefer it on my Note 10+.
Mentioning Connection compatibility difference between VU n other TVs is appreciated
But a little taken aback for you to not have reviewed MOTOROLA READY FOR. pls do. Maybe a comparison as well
This video was great 👍
Thank you!
Excellent video!
I recommend using AndrOpen Office for Samsung Dex over Microsoft Office. It works and looks much better than Microsoft's offering.
Thanks Paul, will check that out!
Noted
I use DEX when I am travelling , using the hotel smart TV as the display
Nice video
Thanks Ziyaad!
Well-Done
why do you only have 600 subsribers?
ur vids r amazing >:)
So sweet of you Kalani to leave this message. It is a start, just since 7 months. And I am still learning, so hopefully metrics and all will do better after few more months. Right now I am just glad to recieve messages like this 😊
i completely agree with unwise man!! but though video is good !!👍🏼
Haha, thanks Khush!
Glad to see people getting on to Nex Docks:)
Great video, thanks
It was really helpful bro
Great video
So just 8 months ago this channel had 700 subscribers, now over 100k???! How? Just how?
Hi! Not that bad but the controller passage is kinda misleading u can really connect every bt controller but !!! The cod mobile supports only ps and xbox controllers and even other games work the same way... ps ; try out clipstudio it works on dex and u can even connect wacom tablet for drawing.
Hi Roman, thanks for clarifying on controller compatibility for COD.
Will try out clipstudio!
How do you get Samsung DEX to work wirelessly on non-Smart TV?
You can use a casting device like chromecast roku etc. if you have hdmi connections
Can you run Canva in Samsung Dex?
Hi Jayson, yes you can run desktop styled full interface of Canva in chrome.
That is a wonderful use case of Samsung Dex environment!
Always samsung ❤🎉❤❤

Dude. Noticed this at several places.
Never read through it completely.
Try TLDR in first comment followed by THE Detailed WALL in the next.
If you haven't figured it out that is
If someone uses this feature, can you tell me if the phone overheats a lot please??
