@@GalaxyShogun i never said there werr any particular issues with the current forshadowing. But oda cant know everything years before he create it. Soem examples of extra forshadowing could be more consistent showcases of haki before haki was introduced or maybe some binks sake playing before we get to thriller bark.
Wit Studio is legendary, especially in drawing natural backgrounds and production, especially since it is the studio that produced Attack on Titan. Therefore, I am sure of the success of this cooperation

Love it and great studio working on it. Perfect for people want to see it but can't commit to over 1000 episodes. I'm sure it will be sped up, filler cut out. A lot less episodes. One piece is getting the recognition it deserves. Gotta love it!
@nathandaniels20we can’t truly say anything until it’s actually out plus we don’t know how the story’s gonna be told this time in the new anime
For most of the one piece anime, they usually only adapt around one chapter of the manga where as most modern anime these days adapt 2-3 chapters per episode on average. So if they were to adapt the whole thing up until the current chapter at the modern day anime pacing, there would probably be around 400 episodes instead of 1000+. Also with WIT Studios, they tend to do shows in seasons rather than a new episodes every week non stop. So that means they’ll be able to take their time giving us the best possible product they can. Man I’m stoked!
One piece fans are eating. It truly was the year of OP with the Live action plus getting new fans like yourselves into the series, a huge arc finishing up in the anime and just all the attention its been getting.
A new anime based at this spin off manga from Oda is also in production by Netflix, is from a Samurai that will be mentioned in the future for your guys

Stoked for this...its a smart move..a whole new audience from LA jumped to the anime, and now this down the line..all in one place on Netflix.
We One Piece fans are truly eating good. What a time to be alive. One thing you guys have to understand is that this kind of thing does not happen too often. The fact that this is happening to such a long and legendary series feels so unexpected. Having Wit Studio for this project is like a dream on top of a dream. The animation for Attack on Titan is so stellar and now One Piece will get that treatment. I read the news this morning and was so convinced it was a prank. This is a humongous deal.
Excited, but also confused. How do you do a remake when the original anime series is still airing? I'm sure the meetings were very awkward when they were planning this out.

When I saw the "remake" it immediately gave me goosebumps, when I heard "I think about 10 men should do". I immediately shed tears
early one-piece anime was good as it adopted 3 chapters per episode, but later they started doing stretch out they started making it only half a chapter per episode to stay behind manga. With this, they will keep the pacing fast and no stretching out, so my guess is 1000 episodes can shrink down to 500 or even 400. Now early one piece anime don't have too much padded filler so the canon story wont be too much shorter but they will definitely cut out filler arcs

Most anime turn 3 chapters of manga into an episode. One Piece for the longest time only does 1 chapter = 1 episode. Add that padding with a lot of the older filler arcs and you have essentially hundreds of episodes that don't need to exist. You could pretty easily condense the 1100 episodes of the anime down into about 700 episodes. Which is still huge though...
Yup! So basically, since One Piece is over 25 years old, the first few arcs are pretty old. Old animation, old art style, old pacing (technically, "old animation" doesn't necesserily mean "bad", but at the time, there were a lot of cut corners due to budget and time constraints).
So since this "remake" doesn't have the pressure of time constraints and has a bigger budget, it's got a lot of expectations to be sure.
The current One Piece anime usually covers it's pacing as one chapter per episode, which might sound reasonable, but often this means that certain moments are dragged out to unusual times or content is reused so that it doesn't get too close to where the manga is.
I mean if you think about it, if the anime catches up to the manga, this means one of two things:
1. The anime grinds to a halt and has to stop airing episodes until Oda has finished both writing and drawing the next chapters, because it takes longer to produce the source material than it does to copy it.
2. Oda doubles, triples, or possibly ten times more than that, increases his workload and rushes himself to reach weekly deadlines per chapter which would have a great impact on his health and likely kill him (Yes, seriously. he's been in big trouble before for overworking himself).
So this doesn't really effect the "current" anime that's airing weekly right now, however a separate anime "remake" allows for an anime adaptation to be crafted at a quality that doesn't impact Oda's own schedule, neither does it need to come out on a weekly basis like the current anime. This one is likely to release in "seasons" where there is a set of episodes that come out as and when they are ready to do so.
And of course you've already caught onto the fact that Studio WIT is animating this, who are EXTREMELY talented, as you'll see, the more you watch Attack on Titan.
If you want another good series animated by Studio WIT, I recommend "Ranking of Kings".
its gonna be seasonal anime like other animes its gonna cover first 100 chapter so they probably gonna cover 3-4 manga chapter per episode better pacing better animation im really excited
I think they don't change the story.
But the spacing, fillers, and fights with the modern technology.
But i wish that they don't add any extra fights or scenes in the new anime that are not in the original one.
I hope they make fights shorter than they need to be. For example Arlong fight and don kreig fight did not need to be that long. The manga pacing should be used. Of course they need to still keep the details and the beautiful one piece original soundtracks
Pacing hurts the original series slightly in the later half. Typically, an episode of an anime adopts 2-3 chapters depending on how dense a chapter is. Since One Piece is currently on chapter 1101, I'd imagine it will take roughly 350-400 episodes. I'm just excited to experience One Piece all over again!
It will most likely be no filler, no movie episodes (with 2 possible exceptions), and no fluff. At the current state we are at 1/2 a chapter per episode when it should be 3-4 chapters per episode. My only concern is Netflix involvement seeing as they aren't known for 'finishing' or staying loyal to the original content. If done right this will be the equivalent of Sailor Moon Crystal.
the pacing has been the biggest problem of the anime for years with them only adapting 1 chapter sometimes even less than that per episode since its airs weekly and them not wanting to catch up to the manga compared to seasonal anime that adapts 3 chapters per episode so this remake would basically fix that also giving us updated animation

Do you guys know there's another anime coming called MONSTERS: 103 MERCIES DRAGON DAMNATION which is prequel to One Piece, this manga was made before One Piece and it's going to be released on Jan 2024. And Oda(author of One Piece) said it's canon to One Piece, so ig you guys should watch it when it releases

I was surprised by the remake of the OP, but I was also surprised that 30 years later, ``MONSTERS'' would be made into an anime. And it's this month!
This can only be good. I guess they cut a bit here and there, but I hope they don't leave out too much. The story taking long is one aspect that makes it feel so much more impactful when certain points are reached.
No fillers, no dragged out fights, and maybe 1/5th of the rest cut out would be perfect.
ANYTHING ONE PIECE ... IM IN .. especially the old episodes REMAKE , Manga BASED , NO FILLER .. WIT STUDIO .. oh hell yes ! lets go .. FILLER were made to fill in empty schedules while the studio recovers from Major Arcs or Major Moments .. but since ONE PIECE is now 1080+ Episodes.. there's no reason for them to put FILLER

Oda turned the general audience to watch one piece through live action. Now through this remake oda try to convince the people who are not watching one piece just because of it's too long. Yes , no filles,no extra's. They gonna animate what exactly manga says. And its not gonna be a weekly episode, its gonna be like season 1,2 or like east blue saga and next saga like that.
I don't think it will be exactly what the manga says, but it will be close to it. There are two reasons for that. One is that One Piece was produced on basically a weekly schedule, by what was at first a very new mangaka who had yet become the veteran of today. The live action has shown just how much fiddling the story needs early on to be of a consistent high quality for a live medium, since it was clearly written on a very 'weekly pay-off' basis early on. Second is that Oda himself has shared canon material that ended up anime only because he him self was time-constrained or space-constrained at the time of writing in ways the anime was not. As such, he may very well revisit some old decisions or smoothe over things in ways that he hasn't been able to do in the past. Think of it as a 'Directors Cut' of sorts.
The great thing about this is that it will probably trim the fat, like the filler and will probably quicken the pacing a bit, which is usually the complaints with the anime right now. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal since I love more content with these characters. It’s curious because from that one image, it takes a familiar scene and adds something into the setting, which is that windmill. So my guess is that the animation will be much better, the early designs might change slightly, the settings might change, there might be much more foreshadowing, etc. We have to remember Oda started this 25 years ago so the early designs and concepts might be out-dated and I think Oda in general has become a much better artist. I’m also curious if some of the jokes change since some of the jokes are also kind of out-dated (like a lot of Sanji’s womanizing jokes). BUT this is also just the announcement and there is rumors that they are now looking for animators. So we could be talking about 2-3 years down the line when this actually comes out. My guess is that they will do what the live action did and will do a first season up to the end of East Blue. Then it might come out yearly. A big issue with the anime right now is that there was always pressure to release it every week so the animation team kind of takes some weeks off where there is a drop in quality in the animated scenes. But when the animation is done well, it’s spectacular. Now there is an opportunity for every episode to be spectacular animation-wise without the pressure of producing an episode every week.
For us long time fans, most of us have probably read and watched the series from the beginning countless times. From our own time, to watching reaction channels. But I am really excited for the earlier seasons updated animation. Being up to date with current anime, with how godly the animation has become, us fans has always had an itch for earlier seasons remake with updated animation, faster pacing, and more adaptation to be included that isn’t, from the manga. This is a huge opportunity to do all of that, and at the same time to bring in new fans, who were on the fence.

Improved animation, better pacing, 100% source faithful, no fillers, less censorship, and they will most probably include the "cover stories" this time...this is Netflix's way to drive everyone who is new to One Piece to have a better way of watching the original one that is very dragged out and honestly strays away from the manga every now and then.

I have a feeling it's gonna be no filler, just get straight to the nitty gritty, also found out the studio also worked on Spy X family, and that animation was dope, so looking forward to this
The big reason people are excited is that a big criticism of more recent One Piece episodes is the very slow pacing, which works as a detriment to the series. Everyone has been clamoring for a remake with updated visuals, no filler, and great pacing, and this basically an announcement for that. I.e. imagine if you only need to catch up to One Piece with ~300-400 episodes instead of the current 1200.
I hope we can see the same for something like Yu Yu Hakusho in due time (second favorite anime after One Piece, though that being the dub as the wide preference on the other hand)

It will definitely be abridged, current anime had a lot of pacing issues so while it won’t be cutting out filler it will definitely get to the point quicker. It’s goal is probably to hook new viewers who find 1000+ episodes daunting

HYPED... One of my few issues with the one piece anime is the pacing, It's one of the reasons I don't regard One Piece as the "best" anime adaptation, even tho in my opinion it's the best manga and story in general, with the best characters, even tho it's tied for my favorite alongside Gintama... I expect this remake to fix and improve a lot. Great time to be a one piece fan.

The verbiage is interesting. They are saying they'll readapt from the manga, not reainmate the anime. So, the fillers might be cut and the pacing will be tighter.
I haven't watched one piece, I love to start my journey on the remake.
If they're doing a remake, they should take out a lot of that fluff, like how Dragon Ball Z was remade with Kai. Kai wasn't a remake of the animation, though. It just recoloured and up-res'd the series. Everyone would've preferred a reanimation, though.
It seems like Oda believes he's in the final stretch of the One Piece story if he's doing this, but I have my doubts that it actually is since the previous section went on for 4 years
Basically this remake will cover the exact same story in the manga keeping the pace and cutting out filler with updated quality in animation if they were to remake 1000 chapters of one piece it would be about 300 episodes instead 1015 episodes in the current anime
I can promise you guys every one piece fan across the globe is hyped for this news. I hope that they only remove the excess/repeated stuff but still keep the filler episodes. They can speed things up alot that way and make it more exciting but I still want the humor to be there. They have done this for Rurouni Kenshin that is being aired rn and the remake is really good compared to what it was. This is VERY good news!
I'm on episode 1,085 of the anime. This new project by Oda is the same story, but a different take with improved pacing, at least I think so. It's a win for folks who couldn't get into the manga or anime before because of the art style and pacing. Now we've got a fresh vibe with better (subjective, we'll see) art and pacing. Everyone wins, old and new fans will rejoice!!! A new spin on the familiar story.
On a side note, regarding the Ninja Turtles, I'm not talking about the newest movie that came out. The new team of Ninja Turtles is coming very soon. The original four turtles have passed away; I won't say how. But I recommend you guys read 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin' (Please, for everyone who knows the story, DO NOT SPOIL IT.) It's a great send-off and torch passing to the next generation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and I think both of you will like the new team. It's similar to how the 'Mortal Kombat' story has finally ended, and the new 'Mortal Kombat 1' released this 2023 is a great fresh start to a new Mortal Kombat story. All well done (in my opinion) in how they ended and (kind of) restarted both.

I, as a long time fan of One Piece will welcome that.. But I don't see the need of doing a remake when the original did not even finish...
PS.: I don't know if you know it, but there's this "One Pace" project that is maintained by fans that is pretty much a remake. They just re-edited the original anime, cutting fillers, shortening scenes and many more tweaks, just to make easier for people new to One Piece watch it and get up to date.

Here is what I'm excited about: You still seem a little confused about why the Anime is this long and we all say it's a bit bloated. It's on a TV-release schedule that can only be achieved by Oda working himself to death to release new material in a rapid pace and by padding the anime with non-canon stories and most egregiously with looong-winded getting to the point over several episodes. The latter one being the reason I eventually stopped watching. With a Netflix release there is 0 need for that. So my hope is that it will just be a 1 to 1 adaptation of the manga. And it would make sense for them to adapt everything. They must've realized One Piece to be their big haul and they want people to stay and keep coming back for more. So now they might have bi-annual releases of something that already had a massive fanbase which has now likely been doubled.

OP original anime is great but youll notice alot of scenes or arcs that drag on. New, clean animation from the jump, pacing will be better but not to the point where it removes the nuance like One Pace. This will be awesome, especially since it has Oda's blessing. Lol I'm very hyped for this :D

You guys haven't seen it yet but the one piece anime starts to suffer from pacing issues . Realistically if one piece had a faithful adaptation it should be less than 500episodes instead of the current 1000+episodes. I always dreamed of a version that was gonna fix the issues so I'm so hyped for this .

The current one piece anime has several issues that this new version can fix. Most of it has dated animation, it has lots of filler, and the pacing is horrible because the anime will caught up to the manga otherwise. The new anime can no only fix all of this but it can also adapt the cover stories, since the current anime does not bother with those.
I think that a good approch should be to remove all the fillers, and remove also the fillers within canonical episodes, then they could group 2/3 chapters for episode thanks to it, instead of 1k episodes we can have 300/400 episodes and at higher quality.
Guess we'll be watching One piece forever!
Don't worry guys it's like Dragon Ball Z kai, if u don't know, This series animation, pacing everything will be changed. But, not the story.
They will cut out all the fat and just be left with the important main story. Which is going to be fantastic for newer fans as well who might find 1000+ episodes a little daunting. They could probably shrink it down to about 400 i imagine with really good pacing

Yeah someone went into detail on how stalled the Anime is just in terms of pacing, which most don't realize unless you read the Manga. As an example they will just focus on a characters face 2 seconds longer then other shows. They determined if you took all that type of stuff out the Anime would only be around 450 episodes instead of over 1000. While I love the original, their are pacing problems with it.
So this is interesting. WIT is doing the animation eh. This should make you happy as they are the studio that did the 1st season of Attack on Titan. Will be looking forward to this. Hope they do episode 0 that is often seen, which is not in the original Toei series. I just want to watch Luffy beat the crap out of the Sea King that bit off Shank's arm.
Edit: Remake is fine so long as they don't try to "improve" on the source material a la Witcher. Remove fillers, Inaki&Co for English voices, Mayumi&Co for Japanese voices, keep ChuChu, and let's watch Luffy kick Arlong's *ss in 4K (2K? 1080p?).
I don't think adding the LA actors as voice actors for the remake would be enjoyable. Not that it's going to ruin it or anything, but the dub cast as of now fits each character very nicely.

@kappachino335 Well I would think anyone watching the Japanese sub in the original anime will continue to watch in Japanese sub, so Mayumi and Co for the Japanese voice acting. For English, I am not really happy with the English dub actors as they can't express the feelings the way the Japanese crew does. This is just my personal taste so maybe the current dub crew is good for you but for me, I would rather have the LA crew. For Netflix, this would help secure their version of OP as they are using the team that is used in their live action rather than to go with a team that is outside of Netflix. On the other hand, they have not put together the full Strawhat actors yet, so depending on how far this new anime will go, they may have to rely on voice actors that are separate from the LA. Overall, I will be very happy if Inaki Godoy voiced the new anime Luffy and Mayumi Tanaka voiced the Japanese version. Both are personally endorsed by Oda.
Yeah no filler!, new animation and fewer episodes.. it will be easier for new fans to watch the whole thing
Yeah, one thing that brings One Piece Anime down is the pacing and unnecessary fillers, in my opinion. This new remake will make people get into One Piece without worrying about pacing and old animation style
I think the new anime will follow the manga more closely and with fresh new updated animation. I bet they are trying to get new people into OP if they start from the beggining with new art thats up to 2024 standards. I believe they only commited to the East Blue arc first.
For me, this is a great time to introduce this new project since there are currently many people who became One Piece fans after watching the live action. Some of them are having a hard time in the OG anime. So with this, this is a good strategy

i'll say i'm not a fan of dubbed versions at all , but it would be very cool if the US Dub of the remake featured the cast from the live action
A LOT of One piece episodes have been: 2-3minutes of into, 1-2 minutes of recap, and too many unnecessary pauses and flashbacks. If they do this right One Piece could end up only being 600 episodes.
I don't trust anything that has "Netflix"and "reimagined" in it... Anything that Netflix has tried to reimagine has been a disaster. The One Piece live action worked because Oda was there. I Need more info on the production. I realty have no trust in Netflix to do anything good.

I don't know how to feel about this. The one piece anime is fine: the voice acting, sound design, the art, direction etc. It only suffers from horrible pacing after the time skip. So why? Idk

I don't how they will cover luffy's stupidity, all those mina mina simawa , Sakura Sakura , 🙄 how brook will sing, I got mix feeling about this, OnePiece is not about animation , it's not only about story too, it's hilarious and funny, I don't think new artist can cover such funnyness 😏 I don't think it will be better than original like never 🙄
It depends on the voice actor to me.. I already didn't like full metal alchemist brotherhood or hellsing ultimate remakes, for example.
The current run has voice that are iconic well-knowns from other shows like hunter x , jojo, baki, ect.
most people never seem to care about it though I'm usually the minority opinion 😂
