John Adams is a *MASTERPIECE*!
Yes it is, such an underrated show
Make 1 space between second asterisk and exclamation mark. Like this *MASTERPIECE* !
I completely agree! It should be required watching for every student in our country!
Totally agree, John Adams was a terrific masterpiece!
I like that only one of these are actually included with a hulu subscription. Everything else is an addon that you could do solo or through other platforms.
Rome is a really good series. It tops my list of historical tv series as well. 👍🏾
yes it is an excellent historical show :)
It was good & at the time amazing, sad that it didn't get renewed for another 3seasons. Band of Brothers is my #1 easily
Its too old and garbage
Please take The Tudors with a large pinch of salt, they got so much wrong; but who cares, it was a cracking good show and fun to watch. Re The White Queen;- there is a sequel called The White Princess, which follows the reign of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York and is just as good. Love your videos.
Yes, I have recommended the white princess on this channel previously as well, it's a great show
Great lists. Really like your channel
The White Queen and The White Princess are 2 of my favorites as well! Have you seen the Spanish Princess?
@@aprilbrown8790 Yup and as good as the others.
Yeah, "The Tudors" got some things wrong (such as his sister marrying the king of Portugal when in fact she married the king of Scotland), but the overall plot line is fairly accurate. But it should have been titled "Henry VIII" since it was all about him.
Good list you should do a mini series one..
Thanks, I already have done - ruclips.net/video/5BSuKb7hAOw/видео.html
@HistorySpark how about one that's the best history movies that are foreign those are always good and hard to find... 👍
I agree with everything on your list. Rome heads my list of the best tv shows of all time. I've watched and enjoyed most of the others, with band of brothers being another favorite. Have not yet seen Black Sails or Atilla, but now I know where to find them.
Attila's ok, but black sails is much better and many more episodes. Wait for the be heading scene. still sends chills down my spine.
Tudors and the white queen are my favorites! George Martin found inspiration in both of these historical stories for his Game of Thrones books and I can see why!
No one can compare in this century to G Martin's writing. I despised fantasy Scifi until I read his first book. Whew!
Great list... So happy you included Adams
thanks i am glad you enjoyed the video !
How many of these was Ray Livingston in? RIP
John Adams and Band of Brothers are the best by far on this list.
Rome 1, BofB 2. Tudors 3, Borgias 4....
Apart from John Adams (which I have not seen) all the other shows are fantastic. Recommended viewing!
John Adams is amazing!!
John adams was pretty interesting
The Tudors has a lot of historical inaccuracies.
All of them do, but that's television. It's not a documentary, it's entertainment. What you're alluding to is completely silly and fake dung, like Gladiator 2, The Return, Ann Boleyn ( as a black queen) and others.
The Camel is an ancient traveler into exotic times as are many of your recomendations ! Thank you 🌻
Too bad our camel was only in ancient times...would have saved a lot of time and money this last year.
This is how I like my wars in the past.
Lol😂
I can't say I disagree with that lol
If there were no wars, humans would never have gone to mars, invented refrigeration, and more. Otherwise we'd still be throwing our feces and shrieking loudly from the tops of trees at leopards.
Hulu is like the last streamer if I am not feeling Amazon Prime or Netflix. But thanks for reminding me why it shouldn't be my last choice!
your welcome, if your paying the subscription fee you might as well use it!
True, this is my generally feeling. I think Hulu put me off when they decided to run ads in shows even when you had a subscription. Just felt like a violation of the contract around this stuff.
Black Sails is NOT on Hulu. How many others aren't either? Hulu Plus?
John Adams was incredible.
I can personally recommend Rome and The Borgias. Amazing, especially Rome.
The Tudors ought to be rated higher than the White Queen!
interesting, theres a good argument for that case i agree
Totally agree!! Far higher quality production and casting
Hulu also has some good Charles Dickens stuff. The Artful Dodger is amazing.
I love these shows and I would love to see more of these shows
Same, I'm thinking we should see more historical shows over the coming years due to the popularity of vikings and the last kingdom
I want a series based on the Crusades. Particularly the 1st and 3rd Crusades which has an awesome story and great leading figures
Have Hollywood contract me; I took a course at a real University, not one of those woke public ones, with a professor who was the world's foremost authority on the crusades.
*MASTERPIECE* !
How is Band of Brothers not #1 its the greatest historical series I've ever seen.
i think it just comes down to preference, i like ancient history more than world war 2 but there is no denying that band of brothers is an amazing show hence why i have rated it so highly
@@HistorySpark oh I love ancient history as well, I prefer like 700bc to 1200ad personally but there's just something about Band of Brothers, to me it's my #1 series/movie/film media of all time. You are right tho it all comes down to personal preferences.
For anyone that served, Even if your purpose got muddled and your experience is distant by years. You put it on and you remember it is your brothers at arms that truly mattered and the experience you shared. Band of Brothers should be shown to kids in school imo
@@jasonluis8895 I agree, I never served. My great Uncle did and he earned the VC (Victorian Cross) as well as other medals he was in Europe as a pilot squad leader, Sir(he wasn't a sir when he served) Hughie Edwards and my Grandpa earned medals in the Pacific as a rifle man turned engineer Eric Jones. They both never spoke to me about the war when I was a child I was young and every interested, I was 12/13 when BoB came out. I remember my parents letting me stay up late that one day of the week to watch the episode.
@@rhzyo very cool parents
100% agree with you on your picks! One thing I noticed, none of them were DEI, woke or having actors smoking and drinking bottles of beer with labels pointed at the camera. No black kings and queens, no angry black bosses yelling at white cringing underlings, just excellent shows, the Golden Age of Historical dramas. After Gladiator 2 put the death knell.period on all historical dramas, I tend to stay away from them now, except Shogun.
The Borgias was sooooo good. 🔥
list of series 🙏
Showtime and starz isn't part of Hulu therefore people cannot watch with just a Hulu subscription
I wondered about that. Now I'm less excited.
The Starz channel also has some good historical miniseries.
yes Starz is one of the best networks for historical shows
Most of these shows are not actually on hulu...
I’ve recently rewatched these on the original broadcasters streaming platforms as well, commercial free, but some, even with historical inaccuracies, were still fun..
Not on your list, but I really enjoyed Barkskins.
thanks for the recommendation i havent heard of it but ill be sure to check it out
The borgias👌
It's a brilliant series!
I am surprised "The Pacific" was not included.
Pacific was good but it wasn't a good as it's predecessor BoB
@@rhzyo That's a matter of opinion. I thought it was as good if not better than BoB. I've rewatched Pacific more than I have BoB.
@@daniel_sc1024 Ive watched Pacific prob 5/6 times BoB Ive prob watched 20+times, I watch it atleast once a year. I would argue that the acting was better as well as the story & filming, but yeah I agree opionion is a big thing eg; I find the europe side more interesting than the pacific or african side of ww2 even tho our countries heroes the Anzac's fought in pacific and africa. Fun fact my great great uncle earnt the Victorian Cross as well as other medals in ww2 he was a pilot, Sir Hughie Edwards :)
Jaquetta Woodville is my Grandmother through 2 of her other daughter's.
What?
Seen all of them at least once, good choices, even though Vikings is a bit of Hokum mainly aimed at prepubescent boys. "The Last Kingdom" would be a better choice, if available? I'm was surprised at John Adams too, it was really interesting. As an Englishman. It opened my eyes to a lot of distortions that many Americans still believe?
The Last Kingdom was one of the best series I ever watched but it is only on Netflix. Not on Hulu but I will check out some of the others though. Already seen a lot of them, Vikings is a must watch!
To me Vikings was more like Sopranos; great episodes followed by really boring and silly filler; like Dr. Melfi.
Where is Harlots??? If you havent seen it watch asap
I think the narrator has a slight lisp.
Several is defined as more that 2. By this definition Henry did not execute several of his wives.
Okay cool, king henry was the king who didn't kill several of his wives then
@@HistorySpark you are right he executed 2 wives one of which definitely cheated on him which would get any queen executed, several is more than 2. He divorced 1, sent sent back 1, one died after giving birth to Prince Edward and one out lived him.
I wouldn't include "The Borgias" on the list for the simple reason it was abruptly cancelled after season 3, and we're left hanging.
Still good
they released the script for what would happen in season 3 so you can still read about how the show would conclude which is better than what most cancelled shows end up getting
Vikings is so far from historical, that I'd put it in the same category as Hercules or Xena Warrior Princess, if it had just an ounce of humor in it.
Rome was great though.
I almost stopped watching it and it soured me on the whole series as when they had a black women as the viking chief of Kattegat. Seriously? How DEI and silly.
I could find atilla
8 or 9 out of 10 of these shows were on HBO first .. hulu just bought the rights for reruns
Most romantic and hot series name?
Such a shame that the suits refused to continue Rome. What a loss.
It was too expensive. But other shows like Spartacus and GoT learned from it and went full cgi
It was hideously expansive to produce. With great actors and a great writing, it's a masterpiece, but, too expensive.
No Game of Thrones??!!??!!
jk
I mean it's more historically accurate than some historical shows...
@@CoffeeFiend1Dragons and magic? It’s Fantasy, not history.
1 series of all times.

Camel?
@@HistorySpark Toe🥸
This should be fictional history rather than *historical* shows!! The Tudors was garbage, even the costumes were awful!! Band of Brothers will always be #1
Tudors is a trash show... too much propaganda for a ridiculous king
good list
Thanks!
Some are great but Vikings is when it comes to depicting a certain period a very big pile of cr........ sorry anyone who thinks Vikings looked like that has no clue. It does cover all Holywood clichees though.
It was a very good series, but you are correct, they didn't really look like that
The narrative and dialogue of Vikings is fucking phenomenal but the arms, armour, clothing and strategy are god awful. Kinda wish The Last Kingdom and Vikings could have had a baby as that at least made an attempt... People actually wear helmets, it was one of the first historical shows to dispel a 100 year old myth that a character in a helmet would not be recognizable to the audience. As it turned out though... Audiences have what are known as *Eyes* 👁👄👁
We dont care
The writer of that series was obviously very familiar with 'shrooms and lsd.
Shame they don't tell the story of Herald blue tooth. He was a great viking king. Now that would be great historical drama.
Rome #1 here too
great minds think alike
Tudors and the white queen are my favorites! George Martin found inspiration in both of these historical stories for his Game of Thrones books and I can see why!
