Its ok with an extended probe, not a standard one as the standard will just sit inside the pellet skirt and not push it far enough past the transfer port...
hmmm... now I have to buy a drill press? ;) do they make those hollow tubes that you put on a drill, to make large holes for doorhandles for example, but in a smaller version, to remove material around a piece like this?
no it still stays as it would stock all i have done is turn the diameter of the tip down to allow more air flow, i did a test today on my sons 2240 his totaly stock was shooting 418 fps.. with just the mod of the probe it now chronys at 463.5 FPS so thats a good increase for sure..that with a 14.6 grain crosman premier hollow point pellet
Proof that pushing the pellet into the barrel further than OEM location is a power loss, is that a barrel length increase, results in a power increase. Similar mod is to clock the bolt and cut (dremel cutoff wheel) a slot from tip to the flange. Slot to be inline with port. As in decreasing the bolt tip diameter, it allows increase gas flow and improves laminar flow. This post is 11 years old and it is still relevant, assume job. Also works on 13xx models.
well when you use an extended probe you lose speed depending on your mods sometimes it pay more to just leave the probe alone and you will gain alot of power depending of course on your mods.. there are way to many combinations of mods
If you feel you got the skills then go for it, other wise for 20.00 ill put one in the mail for ya this gets you probe only that's moded you will need a new probe cocking Handel that's threaded, I might sill have a few left of those ill have to check.
youll need a 24 inch Barrel and a power adjuster a transfer port drilled to 3.8 mm a really soft but still effective valve return spring bore out the front cap on the valve about 3.4 down and a 2289 hammer spring and a lightened hammer as well as a trigger mod to super lighten the trigger to hair pin trigger sensitivity
hi there yes the power adjusters will work on all the 13xx and 22xx series crosman guns keep in mind the power up is a sweet spot what your going is adjusting preload but to much is bad to little is bad so its all about finding the right spot then lock it in and your good to go with all other present mods
Awesome video. Great easy free mod. I have a 2289 with a 12" barrel and average fps of ~482. With your mod i took my probe down to 1mm -1.25mm and was windering about where you think the fps will be now?
kinda hard this was done long time ago and thats what they say thats life and i cant make everyone happy but most are so oh well so sorry that the video bothered you this was done along time ago and tech was was it was then
Do you still have these for sale? I can send you a bank issued money order, you can cash it first then mail me the part - hell Ill send you cash if you want.
Very helpful - I tried it;and it worked as described!
Thanks great video

Im going to buy a spare probe and try this and chrono to see what it does. Great idea 👍
let us know how it works out for you
i'm on a budget, so I don't want to spend any more money, what do you think about sanding the probe down with a dremel?
does this use up more co2 ?
great idea, I don't have a lathe or access to one, any other way I can do this?
thanks have a great weekend
thanks very much for the great tip!
you have this nice lathe to do this with...
any ideas on how to do it without a lathe?
glade it helped you
thanks

Can this be done with a Dremel power tool, and a vice?
not that iam aware of i always use the proper tool for the job

no it does not use up any more co2 it only allows whats not getting used to get used and up the power of the gun..
Wouach.....!!!!!!
