@@tropixx8143 Huh? The 718 and C9 have nearly identical base prices. The Corvette has more similarities if you're looking at engine layout, and styling too. If they price the MR2 anywhere north of 60K it will have to compete with cars that will decimate it in performance, and likely luxury too. Not to mention out pricing the market that actually cares about the nameplate.

Meh. No grace. I don't believe it, certainly not for US, and even if they did, they'd price themselves out of the market. Its never going to be a Cayman. (and I've owned 2 MR2s). Corolla 3 cyl would be much cheaper homologation, and a low price might have a chance. 2 seater sales are miniscule - makes no business sense and ain't nobody spending 70k for an MR2 over a Cayman (beyond the first year rush). The company has lost their mind with pricing of products lately and seems to be forgetting "customer first". Doesn't matter how good the products are if practically nobody can afford them - that clashes with Toyota's stated mission of "Mobility for all".

I think the interior might be more realistic than one would assume on the first look. The ''blue fishnet'' stuff just looks to be 3d printed and the gear selector is here 11:34 on the right side of the steering wheel. they also included a physical hazard button already according to eu regulations and since theyre probably not gonna build a lot of these i think this really might be closer to production than it seems. also having the passenger side of the dashboard be very empty is a classic toyota move for driver focused cars so i think its gonna be similar in the production version.

Around 50k will sell a ton of them if they do it right. Here's to hoping. The '80's version was a dream car when I was little. Love the angular design of the potential concept, which seems iterative of the '80's design. Only gripe is the daytime running light blades should be de-emphasized slightly--they're too prominent. Also, loved the interior of the '80's car--it was like a cockpit; hope they take it as inspiration. People in the late '80's/early '90's were spoiled as hell for choice in the cool car category. A manual transmission is a must!!!!!!!

What is most clear to me based on the BMW Supra relationship is:
This is going to be a Lotus Emira with a new body. They will likely use the 3 cylinder in the base model (RWD) probably around $60-$65k. Top trim will be AWD with the supercharged V6 used in the Emira which will likely be $75k. RWD top trim will come later and they could delay manual option just to keep the model fresh over the years just like the Supra. Lmk what you think.

Idk... I think it will steal GT86 customers as well as Corolla's. It would be better if they gave a gt86 update/upgrade... MR2 will shake ground for Toyota and i don't think it will be as cheap as we would like to see.

Yeah i dont want replacing supra despite its BMW. Supra we like it or not wasn't that bad ( +with new manual). original mr2 was radically different than this. And wish they realize that cheap performance sells and 70k (if I'm correct) isn't cheap.

@Fangio-63 The 86 used to be a corolla. Now it's a rebadged version of brz, but nobody bats an eye.

@@Fangio-63 No it won't. Those cars aren't even aimed at the same market share. No one buying a GR86 is also dropping 80k for a Corvette. Different markets.

I thought Cadillac owned the vertical lighting signature. But seriously, it's a dramatic design that will make a huge halo car interest for Toyota. Hopefully, they will make the RIGHT decision for it's powerplant, and NOT make this an EV. EVs are falling in feasibility because ICE engines are becoming more efficient and much less harmful for our carbon footprint. Great job Brembli! Looking forward to the return of a fun MR2 inspired vehicle. If they can do all this and keep it under 50 thousand dollars, this could be a massive success!

$70k for a Toyota... Sorry, but they will hit the same wall as the Apline a110: ultimately, the market will vote with its wallet and go for the Porsche 718.

A 70k 4-cylinder turbocharged Toyota... It practically sells itself, I mean, what's not to like? Shitty engine sound, tons of turbo lag, plasticky interior...
12:23 Yeah, that worked great for Toyota: the most indebted company in the world.

I'm very disappointed at Toyota for different reasons dei is not one of those reasons
      Those reasons are
1.Putting carpets near the accelerator which led to killing people without warning
      2. Making the supra a bmw pos
      3. Toyota not allow a refunds for
Fixing unreliable gr corollas engine and giving their data to their insurance without they consent
4 lastly Toyota not putting cars in need for speed but in worse products like the crew (delisting and deactivating games ) mf ghost (underaged school girls) and even fast and furious (that last one I let that slide)
