      idk if someone's already said this, but maybe you could sand down the screw post to get the cart to tighten up more. OR if its clicking because it IS too tight already, maybe you could put in a nylon washer on the post to space it out a little more???

    I like these Neo Geo videos. The Neo Geo is a rare thing in the retro video game community.

      Ah yes the Neo Geo console that no one could afford cuz they were ridiculously expensive

    In my college years I’ve had PSP disc shells break. At first, I had to get whole replacements of the games, so it was a godsend when replacement shells came along! I still had my broken shell Locoroco in storage long after I bought another copy, so when replacement shells came along, I gave my original copy a new shell and let a friend have it!
    Because the label to the Mega Drive version of Mr. Nutz only has the game’s logo, I might make a custom label once I get a copy, depicting the game’s title character!
    There’s nothing wrong with making custom carts!
    I plan to back the Digital Protector perk in the Stone Protectors Kickstarter, one of the rewards in which is a ROM download of the Mega Drive Stone Protectors game, so I would like a means of making a repro cart of my own!

    I dig your passion for Neo Geo. Due to the size and expense I’ve always gone with emulation, compilations or remakes, but if I had the time and money I’d love to go down this road. For now though I’m happy with the mini that I got for a song thanks to your link. 🙏

    i wish they made these custom cases with like an indent space for proper custom art label on the front of the cart, so you could see it when it's in the console.

    I did this with my 161 in 1. They have clear smoke black shells on Aliexpress.

    Those screws are platinum, man! Get it right! It's the real reason Neo-Geo carts cost soooo much...

  • @Gunbu
    @Gunbu 3 года назад +3

    Very cool, I may pick up some new shells for some of my more scuffed up games.
    One thing I will point out is that the slots on the edge connector spacer are slightly offset, so they "almost" fit if you put it on backwards. Don't think you put it on backwards in the video, just wanted to give the heads up about those!

    Those clear shells look crispy! That red really is awesome looking.

  • @loganholmberg2295
    @loganholmberg2295 3 года назад

    Clear plastic is always harder and more brittle than regular plastic for cartridges so its less forgiving on tolerances so you will see creaking and groaning on some of the carts. I wouldn't worry about it as long as it fits the cartridges' slot and the board dosen't move around in the case.

    Thanks for this. I got a cheap Pulstar a long time ago from an Ebay seller. It came with an ugly label and in a grey shell. I've replaced the shell, I just need a label.

  • @Cookiedon15

    Wanted to see some gameplay at the end, tbh lol. That'd be cool if they made a case where you can put a sticker on the front for game art.

    I actually bought a bunch of beaten up MVS carts, so I can relabel them with my own custom made MVS labels. Now they look pretty on the shelf, and better on my CMVS unit.

    Dude.... I'm 100% with ya. I swapped cases on my mvs carts along with labels cause the Japanese labels were confusing the fuck outta me! Lol but I got some BS from the purists for doing so. My whole thing is....Im playing these..not collecting for resale Gold.

    Have you looked into the full labels? I've seen a lot of people doing really cool full-size art labels. I definitely think that those are a big upgrade for MVS. Whether you have a library for arcade use or consolized use.

  • @joshmcgootermier2301
    @joshmcgootermier2301 3 года назад +3

    Considering the investment with MVS I’d never do this with these games and would consider it with cheaper games... but I’m just a weirdo with keeping thing original if I’m going to spend that much on an original game.
    Looks nice but not my style.

    Other than that clicky clack noise, these turned out great! I'm impressed. I'm a condition snob, so ditching the original MVS shells (which are always battered to all hell) is not that big of a deal to me.

  • @DustoMan

    You could probably commission Ben Heck to make you a portable MVS he's made a ton of retro and current portable consoles. I don't recall seeing a MVS so he might be up for it. EDIT: He has it's on his website.

    Curious question: are you keeping the original cases around, in case you decide to sell in the future? I agree you have the right to do what you want with what you buy, but I can see someone in the future interested in buying the games down the road, but being turned off by the new shells.

    @4:17 I think you did flip it. It fell out and then you twisted your wrist which maybe affected the alignment? I don't know if theyre symmetrical or not though, just guessing!

      Lol, I dont blame them... From all appearances it seems fine... Just has to be slightly off somewhere with the molding. The other two i assembled and stayed together fine... But it is a lil dissappointing considering the cost per shell.

    Omg, I normally agree with @madliytlepixel, but the ignorance swapping the original mvs black cartridge, for some 3d printed bootlegged childish coloring one. Maintaining its original stickers, sharpies,dings and beat up luster, is part of the charm. Smh...🤦🏽‍♂️

  • @patrickhawthorneLS
    @patrickhawthorneLS 2 года назад

    It looks better on your shelf if thats your thing but will devalue your game,I personally wouldn't entertain a neo game in one of those cases,says bootleg to me
    It also inflates the price of these games,for instance a kof98 beat up might be in my price range but a mint one maybe not
    And of course these cases are fine if that floats your boat as long as your keeping the original shells
