20 years later and Neo-Geo gaming at home hasn't gotten any cheaper lol It's one of those things I really want to be able to own but out of my price range.
If the omega had an external power brick instead and a smaller footprint then it would be so much better. I agree it is a huge console! Just getting rid of that internal power supply and using a external brick would definitely shave off some of the size this thing has. Also having the power supply on the inside has the potential to cause noise seeing as that board is so close to the av board. So overall I think it's a bad design to have the power supply sitting on the inside next to the av board. If this console ever sees a redesign with some of those issues fixed then this thing would be killer. Only then might the price be justified!
I was so close to pulling the trigger on an Omega a few years ago and being an individual who enjoys playing my original consoles on HDMI TVs (thank you Mike Chi!), I am so glad I didn’t. I see prebuilt OMVS units aren’t able to be ordered at the moment but I’ll jump onboard once they are! Thanks for the comparison.
I am surprised they havent offered to fix that problem with the Omega where the controller plugs in? The Omega has been out long enough for the issue to have been addressed. Will clearly be buying the other when purchasing a consolized MVS.
It's sort of comparing apples to apples here. They both use the MV-1C, and you can add mods to either one. The OMVS is cheaper and apparently has better RGB output. So there's no question which one is the better buy.
I love the system you built that’s cool ….. I was the original owner of the original home Neo Geo 330 mega home arcade system back in the early 90’s . I remember paying like $250-$300 a game and I had the memory cards you could take to the arcade and put it in the actual machines and bring the memory cards home with you from the arcade if you had the game at home and you could start playing where you left off that system was amazing. I do wish I had it to this day and regret not keeping it. The games were awesome it was a dream come true having the arcade right in your living room . All the other systems couldn’t even come close to a neo geo 330 mega system . I do love your red system your built it’s freaking awesome . I’d love to have someone build me something like that absolutely amazing . Me building it would be a joke 😂
Do you think the Netbios masta and memory card will be restockeed. All sold out. Are you keeping your CBOX? Which one out of all the options do you prefer. Make a vid rating all of them.that would help.

@@demonology2629 it’s more injection molded and a lot more durable. My friend is into the 3D printing scene and it’s impressive, just not high quality.
@@ericochoa4034 I can understand why they went with a internal power supply for quality control purposes. External bricks if not quality controlled can be a major issue down the road and at the same time can make it easy to replace....still I get wanting the system to be slimmer. Still an amazing paint jobz
My Neo Geo AES 3-6 Revision with Composiet is razor sharp. Like the real deal at for my it’s much better than any CMVS. Grew up with the RGB on my second AES 3-6 board have a easy RGB mod for my old CRT TV. It’s what you like and the AES have more than the retro SNK feeling. Which I don’t have with a CMVS.
I'd keep Omvs. It's cheaper and it has a few things you like better like the brighter image and controller ports. It's not as nice looking but still looks good and is a smaller form factor. I sold my Omega years ago. I'm almost done selling all my Mvs stuff. Going to stick to Aes since I sold my candies. All I have now is a few crt monitors.
I recently purchased the Omega MVS and the Rondo replacement A/V board, I also have the HD Retrovision Genesis cables. I have a gcompsw and a Framemeister both of which are NOT SAFE to use with supergun conversions from what I’ve read online. I was wondering since the Omega MVS is a supergun conversion, is it safe to use with either the gcompsw or Framemeister that has the “SAFE” Rondo A/V board in it? I tried asking Castlemania on their support ticket page nearly two months ago and have not received any response since... :/ Thanks in advance for any and all help!!! :) Thankfully it won’t be a problem if I can’t since I can just hook it up to my huge ass Sony Wega until I’m able to get a RAD2X (since that’s definitely a viable option)...
The Omega works great with my gwscart, Frmemeister and OSSC. With both the original scart cables and the TF upgrade video board. The upgraded video board is worth it.
@@jjennings089 Thank you very much for that information! I’m glad to know that I won’t be stuck only using it on my CRT when I get it. It’s not that the RAD2X is expensive or anything, but rather they are never in stock and I’d prefer not to have to wait for it to come from the U.K. Plus, what’s the point in owning a Framemeister if I can’t even use the damn thing, lol... :)
Hmm... If I remember correctly I preordered very early on when he was able to do a bunch each week. It still took a while before I received an invoice to pay, then after that a week or two. I wish I knew the exact timing but it was still a bit of a wait, maybe not 8 weeks but definitely close from when I initially put in the preorder request. If I were you id try to ask him directly where you are at he is on twitter @avramce
Strange, my Omega CMVS doesn't seem to have that controller port issue. My controllers sink a little deeper than that, and they don't have any of that wiggle. I know mine is an older build though, probably going on 4-5 years old. Maybe this is something that crept in recently?
I have no idea what you're talking about with all these abbreviations I just want to play some neo Geo what's the best way to play without having any original games or hardware.
They sound so expensive to play a really old console. I’m not into retro so maybe my perspective is wrong, but I can’t understand why they cost so much....
Just get a Neo Geo CDZ if you cant afford the AES. I am not impressed by these MVS machines. Way to expensive aswell. Paying 700 for a MVS system is just ridiculus. You can get a really nice CDZ for 150-200. And a decent AES for 350.
Not a CDZ for that price, maybe a original CD , but you are looking at 400+ for a loose CDZ console. I sold a CIB for 750 recently. Games for the CD are becoming very expensive as well, but not near AES at all. Consolized MVS systems can be had for a couple hundred $$ or build your own for $100~ or so. MVS is a real Neo Geo so its not a bad thing to want to play the original games. The CD and CDZ to a lesser extent have long ass loading times that ruin the experience for many. Whatever option people want, but Ive shared a lot of options when it comes to original hardware solutions, from expensive to lower priced... Just because one of the options i shared in this video cost $530 with no add ons doesnt mean thats the only option... Its just one of the more expensive ones.

A video where you compare the video output of ALL your neo geo mvs kits, cbox's included, digital foundry style would be hella fun. I'd love that!
That glossy red paint looks so good!
"It's a very small unit" said no man until now...lol. Thanks for the vid Ron. Keep it up!
Man the Mister is such a great and cost effective solution. Though I will admit original hardware is cool too.
You're getting me excited about this thing. I'd like to try it out.

To have the best NEO GEO EXPERIENCE IS TO PLAY IT ON THE NEO GEO AES PERIOD !!!
Not true. The MVS is Neo Geo in its purest form. The AES was an afterthought. The MVS was 3 -6 times the price to arcade operators.
