    The Neo Geo MVS was ahead of its time. Most arcade cabinets at the time had one game. The MVS being a machine that could use interchangeable cartridges was amazing. That's why an arcade cabinet made in 1990 was still getting official games in 2004 and still gets fan games today.

  • @jayj266

    The MVS carts were actually more expensive initially , like $800ish whereas the AES carts were $200 - $350. Some arcade operators actually put AES consoles inside an MVS cabinet. Its not super common to find nowadays but they are around. The AES carts eventually became much more expensive due to obsecenely low print runs and the situation flipped.

    • @mushie8447
      @mushie8447 3 года назад

      most of the "good games" were near/at/well over the $1000 mark. KOF 01 was $2,400, they feared that the operators would put the cheaper AES games in their machines....That is why the pin layout on the AES card is different. Now a days it is turned around that is why people started collecting MVS hardware and games, or buying games for their AES playing them with a converter...I only have MVS hardware 1/2/4 slot boards, it feels the most genuine to me....you own a piece of history....real arcade hardware in you're own home!

    Glad I could help! All that Fatal Fury 2 cart did was look cool on my shelf so it's nice to see it actually being played. I feel like Behar Bros really knocked it out of the park with the CMVS. Super neat console.

  • @Pagaugezero

    It actually was the other way around the MVS carts were more expensive for arcade owners and SNK didn’t want the arcade owners using the less expensive home carts. Less expensive being $250 300 where the MVS carts were like double that. When Arcades went out there were no way to play the MVS carts at home so the prices plummeted.

    Makes sense, arcades were big in Dothrakiland but I am surprised that they also work on Dreamcast. I legit haven't seen any console other than PlayStation after Sega Mega Drive in Turkey. It was like you either play PES on PlayStation or Counter Strike/AoE2 on PC.

    I got the gun metal CMVS ultra and it’s numbered 13…they let me pick the number. I use the NeoSD Pro MVS, I actually own two of them. I have a second Omega MVS from Arcade Works on a CRT. My CMVS Ultra sits in a full sized arcade cabinet from X-Gaming (X-Arcade Machine).
    I highly recommend the Ultra but if your trying to save a little bit of money the Omega is a slick console. It looks almost identical to a AES, there is 3 different AV cables (scart, composite, and component). The power plug is just a single wire with out the large power supply the Ultra has. I never use the dip switches on the Ultra since mine is connect to a RetroTink 2X-Scart.

      Get a Mister FPGA if your on a budget. The Open MVS is a good choice as well but the cream of the crop is the CMVS Ultra then the Omega. I wish I would of got the Analogue CMVS, if they ever decide to make them again…I’ll be grabbing one for my collection.

So after some time they proposed me to replace the cable but they wanted to charge me 12$ for it. I refused to pay the extra money, of course. After I explained, twice, that they should not charge me for replacing their faulty cable, the next day they wrote me that they would send me the replacement free of charge. It's still absurdly High price item for the fortunate people... also Neo-Geo is and was for a aeons easy to emulate, even with the least capable hardware Neo-Geo run just fine so with an 40$ Raspberry Pie 4 you could have any Neo-Geo games flawlessly emulated running on your HDTV in awesome 4k.
    Yes pirated games is not the way to go but with those kind of price sometime it's the only wise think to do unless SNK release some kind of mini-SNK stuff like nintendo or sega

    The dudes who made this need to make a actual * cough cough * home counsolized SEGA NAOMI that just hooks up to your CRT tv or normal modern TV and you can just buy official Naomi GD ROM discs and put them in there and also add a dreamcast controller port in the front so you can use the Japanese official dreamcast arcade stick , now I’d buy that in a heart beat so fricken fast ❤️

    Getting strange vibes from this video. This IS as Neo Geo MVS, and a consolized MVS always is just that. If it's emulation it's not a consolized MVS. The AES did not "attempt" to bring the arcade experience home. The AES (again) IS the arcade experience. The AES and MVS are just slightly different variations of the same machine. Like a Famicom and an NES, sure the cartridges don't fit (there are adapters, in both cases), but otherwise they are the same. (Well actually Famicom & NES are farther apart, but still considered the same). And OF COURSE the multicart works, it's running on real, authentic, old, made-by-SNK Neo Geo hardware.

      @YASYTU 3 года назад +1

      @@AdamKoralik Well I mean you kinda made it sound like this was some kind of clone hardware, or that maybe this was "real" but that other consolized MVSs were "clones" in some way. I'm not saying the specific MVS you got is bad in any way, it seems to be well made, but it's just yet another consolized MVS, i.e. it's just an MVS in a case with some stuff. So you're showing your audience a retro system, but I get a "this is something new" vibe (like, how the analogue Super Nt was a "new SNES" or how the Mister is lots of "new" old systems in one box) from the video. I'm also not too sure if you're correct on all the historical details, for example, I don't think that MVS carts were cheap when they came out. About the multicart: How could it NOT have worked? By what trickery should there be a cartridge that works on every MVS (bugs aside) but is supposed to somehow magically NOT work on the specific MVS that someone put in a case for you? With a clone system the situation would be entirely different but are there even any Neo Geo clone systems? To sum up, your video tells me "this is something special and mysterious" when it is neither special nor mysterious. At all. Doesn't mean it wasn't entertaining or whatever. Uh... you dig? ;-)
      But anyway, maybe this is not the correct way to answer to "Okay?" style posts. I dunno.

    • @AdamKoralik
      @AdamKoralik  3 года назад

      Well, I believe I claimed this wasn't new and that there are alternative versions. They vary in quality, some use original parts, some use emulation. What makes this special is using original hardware while also using their own custom RGB output board.
