I know it is meant to be humorous, but you've helped thousands of us, and are far from stupid. I know you've helped me, and I'll continue to be a good customer. You just installed a new Evap core and all new actuators in March in my 2000 C5. It is working as new. Thank you Lyle and Steve.

Carl, same here. I’ve got a 2003 50th Anniversary convertible and never had a problem with the retractable antenna. One key, I think, is to keep a bit of lubricant on it and inspect it occasionally to keep it straight as possible. Living in San Antonio where it’s relatively dry, I RARELY take it through a car wash and wash it myself. Probably best to have a 3x5 card taped to the radio to tell the car wash workers “Retractable Antenna. DO NOT OPERATE RADIO”

Thanks lyle. I actually just ordered the original Ariel for my 93 corvette. The existing one goes up and down but gets stuck and doesn't go fully retracted into the Bodywork. It ends up sticking up a couple inches. So I bought a new one and that hopefully fixes the problem. Olivia will be very thankful! Thank you!
I have a 77 and I actually like the antenna sticking up.

I've had a couple of and still do have a C4. I like to keep the antenna working because everyone likes to see it go up and down just like seeing the headlights flip up. That being said I almost never listen to broadcast stations and have a Pioneer combination CD/DVD player with navigation and backup camera replacing the troublesome Boise I just installed a cutoff switch for the antenna to save wear and tear. Most of the time I just bluetooth the phone or plug in a thumb drive anyway.

Thanks Lyle. My 2003 C5 50th Anniversary doesn't have a traditional antenna. It has it embedded in the windshield. I don't use the radio so the poor performance is a non-issue for me. I assumed all C5's had the embedded antenna.
Greg, is your 50th Annie a targa top or FRC? Mine is a convertible and has the retracting antenna on the right rear fender.

@@GregSr Hmm....maybe it's because the targa top (what Chevy calls coupe) with its semi-fastback roof doesn't have much fender space in back. The convertible and the fixed roof coupe have short, relatively chopped off tops in back resulting in a much longer fender top next to the trunk lid. Anyway, that's my educated guess.

because he didnt mention it clear flood mode is holding your accelerator to the floor as you crank it this disables the fuel system allowing excess fuel to be cleared out

Question related to floods. What do you guys do keep your cars protected during big storms. These cars sit very low and just wondering. Is there storage garages available to keep your cars safe?
There's sort of a water restriction here in Vegas because we are in the Mojave Desert and during the hot, hot, omylorditisburningmyeyebrowsHOT, summer months, we have restrictions on even watering our landscaping between the hours of 8am to about 7 or 8 pm at night.
It is implied that washing your car at home is a no-no, but no one ever goes out of their way to tell you, "You good-for-nothing water slut!" While yes, we should try to never send our cars to the car wash, the next best thing is to find a brushless car wash or a DIY car wash. Try to use the water responsibly because the water runoff from our driveway is NOT drained into the city sewer right away. It meanders through three-inch troughs through the neighborhood before it is dumped into the city sewer. And that water, in the middle of a hot dry (sometimes windy) day, will evaporate so quickly.
The water at the car washes and DIYs at least collect the water INSTANTLY after it's used.
We hadn't had any significant rain for 3-4 months so the rain this past week was welcomed but some areas had some flash flooding.
Having always cleaned my car at home, too OCD and never thought paying somebody to do a job that was easy. Not to mention not water spotted when done. I ran afoul of a neighbor one weekend by squirting off me car on a Sat. I never leave water running down the street, just a rise off. Working away from home all week I was unaware that we could only water during the week when I wasn't home. Well, that nice neighbor called the water district who showed up when I was in the garage. I got a $300.00 fine on my next water bill. The person that I spoke with said what I did was a no-no, and I would be fined if they were called again. Funny that there was no water in the driveway or run off. Well, next time never happened, but the next bill did. I used to work with that neighbor and couldn't figure out why I was the target of all that. Having a Corvette? Luckly, I had a self-wash close to home and used it from then on. Maybe I should have put a Corsa system on for some good cold starts. But why mess with a system that works just fine stock.

Lyle I’m looking for an all leather (Black) set of seat upholstery for an 02 Vert with the Sport seats. Where can I find them and new lower seat cushion foam? I want something that looks OEM but is all leather. Also I’m looking for a new front bumper emblem for the the same car…my GM dealer tells me they are obsolete…do you have a source?

Question. My 1973 coupe has original stocks. Yes orginal. They feel fine going down the road or the old fender test. I've owned 42 years. Bought 80k currently 150k. Should I change. Just a thought. LRV love your videos.
Yes, you should change them. On age alone, they are very far out of their service life. I'll bet good money that once you chage them you will feel a very positive difference! Lyle

I had to get rid of the stubby antenna, just doesn’t pick up a signal like the original 🤷🏻♂️
I was wondering if a windshield antenna is available
lots of people prefer a stubby antenna, but rather than have a coil of wire approximate the three foot radio wave length, I prefer an actual three foot mast stacking up. what I really want is a switch to kill power to raise the mast when I don't need it for music. maybe someday.
the ability to oil the engine without ignition is obscure knowledge, judging from all the DIY oil priming systems made out of five gallon buckets and assorted pump configurations posted on the internet. And I looked at all of them, not wanting to dry start an engine that had been sitting for awhile. It's like the blind leading the blind out there sometimes. I wager there are a pack of dudes running around town with their air filters on backwards because internet gossip said it was a good idea, with the proof of validity being, " because I saw it on RUclips".
Hey Lyle, I am lost here. My 04 LeMans Edition has the antenna mounted in the windshield. Is this not how the rest of the C5's are or is mine special?

Screw corvettes..i had a 2016 z51 i took extremely good care of..oil changes every 4 to 5k miles around 30% left on gauge..never tracked it..serviced trans and diff before it needed it...just had it serviced with 39% left at the chevy dealer and next day on my way to arkansas from omaha i hit kansas city and valves blew destroying the engine..i ran the car mostly in manual mode so the engine wouldnt go into 4 cyl mode but valves still blew up..thanks chevy engineer for a bad design that destroyed my vette..never buy a corvette again

Hey Brother... I've have never seen a C5 with a factory up and down antenna. Every C5 I've seen had the antenna in the windshield. Please correct me if I'm wrong... Stay safe... Rico
I think the FRC/Z06 has an antenna on the rear quarter panel. The one on my hatchback is in the windshield, though

My c5 antenna is built into the windshield . I’ve never seen a c5 with electric antenna.
You probably have a coupe then. The antenna in the video came on the convertible and z06
