I’m curious as to why this tree is called NZ pine. In NZ, the predominant pine is the Monterey pine, pinus radiata and definitely a soft wood. Looking at your splits it’s quite different to the pitchy pine we cut here in NZ. Any ideas?
There's not much about them if you look it up the most popular trees for firewood are Australian pine here (aside from the usual people who only want oak) which is dense and heavy wood but only grows by the beach The old timers call them new Zealand pines they're a hardwood but not nearly as dense as the Australian pine
Gettin It!!!!
