A lot of down and storm damaged trees means more firewood this season!!

After hurricane Helene and Milton pass by we are left with a lot of tree work here in SW Florida. The number of trees that uprooted and are otherwise in need of removal are adding up to a lot of firewood.

“Always building something down here”, ain’t that the truth. Great for smoking meats too, especially mullet. Would you say Australian Pine takes as long to dry as oak? Seeing as it’s more dense.
@@thecamocanoe Australian pine dries extremely fast we split and sell it at the end of the season when I'm low on wood, everybody knows to stack it and let it air out for a week or two.
The Eight Way is better then the 6 way for larger pieces of wood,
That 8 way is awesome! I’m glad to hear Eastonmade took care of the issues you were having!! Can’t believe that wood is pine, looks like red oak we have up here.👍👍
@@outdoorsinthe608 the 8 way is really efficient for sure! Great customer service they took care of the problem in the best way. I wish the oak we have here split like that!! Live oak isn't any fun to split unfortunately.
If you guys are re-spiltting 10% of the pieces because they are too big, exactly what are you doing? Or are you just being fussy... I don't think you are totally happy with that wedge. Great video
That is spectacular customer service! Fast firewood for sure. Looks like NZ Rimu to me ( we call it red pine) very close to rating as a hard wood. Good video. Cheers from HB NZ
these trees grow in clusters in Florida they don't have any sap they are a she oak ironwood wood type but not as hard as Australian pine
I use the 7 way pizza box wedge on my 22-28. I makes a lot of scrap, but the speed and elimination of physical effort (pullback arm) makes it all worth while. - Dick
@@oldguyfirewood I like the 7 way box wedge for the nice straight stuff. I made my mind up to buy a 22-28 from watching your videos. I just made a new video with an 8 way wedge on the 22-28 it works really well!
I just subscribed to your channel. I have the tall 4 way and box wedge for my 22-28. I want to try a 6-way for 12" and smaller rounds. It looks like you have a nice operation going! - Dick
We used the 6 way for a spell but I'm looking forward to using again on smaller straight rounds. Pretty sure I'm subscribed to your channel but I'll double check...
8 way definitely has its place, that machine just pumps out the wood though, even all the crotchy pieces. Keep up the great work guy's 💪
@@LogCabinFirewood yes sir doing a little night splitting with it right now!! Will do we have a lot of wood to split, thanks!
hi there looks real good .best to all /john

nice job i have 8 way i love it i use on all my wood
@@cecilwells-tm4ss wish I could use it on more of the types of wood I split but I will try it out on some of the straight stuff.
Being nosey but do you mind i ask if you had to pay anything,or freight with the swap out?
@@jessejones9830 No it was basically a warranty replacement because of the metal shavings in the hydraulic system. It was a brand new machine.

With the right type and size of wood, that 8 way can sure pump out the wood.

Nice machine
Yes sir it's a beast!
Used my stopwatch and the 22-28 seemed to be getting 6.3s whereas the 37D was right around 4.0s. So I don't think it is a case of the 22-28 being slow, rather, it seems the 37D is far faster than advertised.
Note, this was during the first side by side comparison (5:18)...so maybe it got slower with time.
@@jamesbainton 22-28 was just under 8 sec watch the end where we time it 3 times
@@WellsFirewood Agreed - seems like it was 6.3s at 5:18, so maybe that oil leak is causing it to slow down.
@@jamesbainton not sure just hoping the issue is resolved easily!
Congratulations on Your New 22-28 Purchase,
@@obiorah1 thank you sir looking forward to using it!!
That oak is no joke, it looks like you're trying to split a block of warm stretchy rubber. I couldn't imagine if that was the main wood in my yard, be like me having only sweet gum which I normaly throw off to the side so I don't have to deal with it.
@@Tonnsfabrication it really slows down production. Some of the spar wood is straight but there's not much of it usually before the main leads start.
I believe an elevator would be a lifesaver for your setup i built one two years ago and wish i would have done it sooner i don’t think anyone makes a better splitter
@@robertdunning74 lots of people in my area capable of building a conveyor but getting them to do it is impossible.

That eastonmade is an awesome machine!! It just makes quick work of it all!!
@@grofffamilyprojects it's a beast for sure I just wish I had more box wedge quality wood to split.
thanks for the comparison video. Ive been looking for a bigger log splitter for a while and think the 40 ton county line is the best option. I like that tall wide wedge. should work good for some of the more stringy woods that I have.
@@rkfirewood7576 I'm glad you liked the comparison. They are good splitters my pump wasn't adjusted properly when I got it so if it's not splitting something you know it should take the hex cap off the pump and give it a clockwise turn or two. The company pretends it doesn't exist.
That’s nice machine. I got 35 ton glade I did from other manufacturer. A commercial splitter really helps out.
Ive never found anything in the midwest my 30T wont split. Busted the hydraulic filter base off, tires went flat. Starts on the first pull every time. Does fine
@@tyharland1906 they are good splitters!
Having a dump trailer is a game changer! My only regret is not buying one sooner!
Yeah i bought mine before the prices got crazy.
37D is an absolute beast!
yes sir it's mean machine!
Awesome comparison! Never seen this splitter on sale so cheap! I have the same 25 ton as you. I found a little trick for easier splitting. In the vertical position, the wood chip build up drops 90% as it mostly falls away. I threw a cushion on a chunk of wood and split all day vertically which was easy on the back with the big rounds. Inside the slide area where the wedge is, it was gouging the metal a bit so now i grease before i use it. I haven't found anything it cant split! Thanks for sharing!
@@FredFlintstone21 yes sir they are good splitters they definitely stay cleaner on vertical splits. Thanks for watching!
I've heard alot of bad news about that smaller kohler on the 25 ton. Have you had any issues with that motor?
@@benjaminleslie3155 I've had as many as 4 of them at a time I have 3 now and I've never had a problem with any of the motors.

Man, that splitter is a beast ! Congrats...
@@SmithFarmTilton yes sir it's a powerful and fast splitter for sure, thanks for watching!
I thought my ULTRA was a fast splitter lol. Saving my pennies for a 24D I get mostly tree tops so 90% of it is pretty straight so thinking that 24D will eat its up.
@@jandblawncare8570 yes sir the 24D is a really fast machine I like to watch them run! I get tree service wood so I went for the bigger cylinder, thanks for watching!

@@cecilwells-tm4ss thank you sir!
I have a 9-16 with a 4-way and 6-way up for sale. 22-28 is on order. What do you recommend for wedges? I live in the Dallas, TX area.. mainly splitting red oak, live oak, post oak, pecan, & hickory. Right now have the order set with tall 4-way, 5-way box & 7-way box wedges. Think I need the 6-way? I’d hate to have to get a single wedge shipped later on, but i also dont want to to waste money on any wedges that wont work well with the tree service wood i get here
@@MitchellH79 the live oak, pecan and hickory will split best with the tall 4 way for sure. If you get ahold of nice straight smaller sized straight grain wood that splits well the six way would be real nice. The tall 4 way goes down far enough to make it a 2 way or single wedge. I don't believe they make single wedges. I lowered my tall 4 way for a knotty piece today it's a big stout wedge!!
@@WellsFirewood so do you think im wastin my $ on the box wedges?
@@MitchellH79 from what I see on other videos it seems like red oak goes through a box wedge pretty well I think. Does it split a lot better than live oak? Less twisted?
@@WellsFirewood yes, absolutely. I messed up and let several loads of live oak rounds sit out in the Texas heat all last summer. Managed to bend up the wings on my 4-way & 6-way for the 9-16. Lesson learned
@@MitchellH79 if red oak is straighter grain and easier splitting the box wedges will definitely speed up production. I can only really use the box wedges on one type of wood that I sell but it makes a world of difference.
Conveyor?
I need a conveyor for sure but I went with a 22-28 so that when I get backed up with wood I can hire help and have two big splitters going at the same time. And I figured the prices are never gonna stop going up.
I hope you bought a mini excavator! I'd love one of those! I like the M-Tronics. I know nothing about engines or carburetors so I'd be taking it to the shop either way.
@@KNLFirewood no sir I wish I was buying a mini excavator that would be really nice! The goal before all the inflation was to have two commercial splitters. I've been watching the machine prices soar so I decided to get a 22-28 before I could no longer justify the buy.
you got a 22/28 👍👍
Yes sir should be here first of September!
