    Unfortunately the Pueblo de los Pescadores already burned down 2 times. Last time it was due to some failure in electrical devices or switches. It is really important as tourist and nightlife spot. By far most European people that settled in LT are Italian and French. This European feeling is good for LT because you find not only good restaurants but also quite well sorted super markets as well as style of housings.

    Playa Las Ballenas is ambiguous as your video perfectly pointed out. On one side it is a beautiful beach but on the other side traffic along that road can be awful and noisy, particularly during the weekend. If you are looking for peace and silence, don't stay there. Always when I stayed in LT, I was escaping during weekends to Las Galeras or other quiet spots.

    I went there 40+ years ago when it was virgin territory. There were only a few motels. I am glad that they have not let the AIs take over. As it is the beach is too crowded. It is almost like Sosua.

    That walking bridge has been in disrepair for the last 3 years, been going to LT for many years yearly for 4-5 weeks.
    Last January 2024 the locals restaurants along the beach burnt down but are rebuilding and can’t wait to go sit once again with Dulce Playa restaurant

    The original pueblo de pescadores was one of the most beatiful places to be in the DR. Ask Shakira, I met her once in the Pizza playa right there. Las Terrenas is the best place to visit in the DR.

      There are enough chaise lounges usually for everyone, they rent them for around 200 pesos for the whole day. But, if you are able to bring your own chairs, even better

    Hi El, so Ive never been there but I am planning on going next summer. So from what I see Las Terrenas is just a beach town, not really much sight seeing going on or is there?? Also how do you spell the name of those apartments across from the beach? I'd like to look into them. Thank you and keep enjoying life!

    • @PurelyWalking
      @PurelyWalking  9 месяцев назад

      Yes, its a little beach town. There are excursions you can book to exotic waterfalls, buggy rides, boat rides and more.
      Some of the apartments are:
      Alisei (hotel)
      Playa Colibrí (Hotel)
      Areito del Mar (apartments)

      Thats right. The Santo Domingo airport is the closest one. You can rent a car and drive up to terrenas, or book a private car/van to take you.

      @@PurelyWalking last question, do you think i would be okay driving around if i never drove in the DR before. I alot people said DR driving is different ...

    • @MauriceMelanson
      @MauriceMelanson 8 месяцев назад

      El Catey airport in Samana is the closest to Las Terrenas ... about a 30 minutes to 45 minutes drive . I have landed there from Toronto 4 times until now and going back in May where I will staying again at the Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo , which is only a 10 minutes drive to the town of Las Terrenas town. My friends , Manu and Anna have the Los Kikis bar , resto and Kiki's beach ( which means their 2 young sons) . They used to operate another one before in town , right across from the cemetary and next to the Bodega club.... and Pueblo de las Pescadores didn't burn down in 2023, it burned down in 2021. I was there after it burned and the previous time was a few years earlier.

    The best videos are the ones that the host never shows themselves and never talks. Travel videos made by westerners are always of themselves talking. They all think they are tv show hosts. 99% of the time if I click on a travel video and I see a talking head, I click off immediately
