Hello ! Thank you for your video ! 😊 Have you ever use the Dawner Prince Boonar ? I hesitate between the Boonar and the Echofet baby, and the Pompei II T1. I can’t try them and it’s hard to choose 🫣 Have a nice day !
Hi Nicolas... no unfortunately I never tried the Boonar. The Echofet baby and T1 don't have heads selection... while the Pompeii PE603 does. But if you use them for a Floyd sound, the selection of the heads is not as fundamental as you think ... the sound is much more important
I must get this. Sounded great in the video. I have tried the volante and boonar. Both were great but took something away from the base tone and dynamics so i ended up selling them. Have to give this a try. Next step would be actual binson echorec and finding someone who can service them 😀
Got one as promised. Came in today and sounds fantastic. Tried it with a princeton and a suhr hombre. Very happy. Most expensive pedal i ever bought but it seems to be a keeper
@@nikokuparinen3806. Have you compared with the Catalinbread Echorec pedal? Also, there is the new Boonar Tube Deluxe now, as well. These 4 manufacturers seem to be the front-runners (though I don’t like the tone of the Strymons, so let’s say 3 front-runners …).
Complimenti per la videorecensione Giampaolo. Come sai questa prodigiosa "macchinetta" del grande Cicognani ce l'ho anch'io, e la uso con molta soddisfazione, anche se col tuo approfondimento potrò provare altre miscelazioni sonore
Hi, great examples, thankyou. I am trying out a Pompeii at the moment and would like to know if you had your strat plugged straight into the Pompeii? Were you boosting it at all? I am finding I cannot get near your magic eye level with my strat and the Input control set as yours is at about 2 o'clock. I have to turn mine up to max.
Hi... thanks! Yes my strat was plugged straight into the Pompeii. The difference may be due to the different pickups. However, the important thing is that with the Input control you can get the right magic eye level.
@@GiampaoloNoto many thanks, yes, I think my pickups must be slightly lower output than yours. I also have a EchoLTD to compare side by side, I would be interested in your thoughts on what differences in tone you experienced as well (I know the heads and functions are different already!), Regards.
Yes, I have them both too ... fantastic! Besides the differences in functions (multi-head, single head) the biggest difference I find is on the sound: more focused on the guitar with ECHOLTD and "pro/studio" with the POMPEII. With the guitar, ECHOLTD gives you a warm sound and it is easier to find the limit of self oscillation.
@@mcentee2 I have the same with my Farfisa Compact Duo. I need to put my input control to max to get the right magic eye level. Make sure you use a high quality 12V instead of a 9V adapter (1A, negative pin). Cicognani is selling these adapters on their website.
Thanks a lot for this great video! It really pushed me to purchase the Pompeii PE603. Do you happen to know whether the sound is generated purely through analog circuits or is there digital modeling going on?
I'm not the designer so I'm not sure but I think that the heads are simulated with an IC (PT2399) and then mixed with the original signal the signal passes into the tube preamp
@@GiampaoloNoto From Cicognani: Pompeii PE603 uses digital fixed delay with analog converters. They are 4 single fixed delays, like Echorec. They are mixed in analog parallel mode.
So as I thought, the heads are "simulated" with fixed digital delays (IC PT2399) and then mixed in analog way. No digital modelers... such IR or other simulations. The result is a warm and dynamic sound
I find it puzzling why your PE603's length of swell is past 3 o' clock and does not start self-oscillating. My unit starts self-oscillating (even without input signal) at 3 o' clock.
Outstanding video. I just bought the pedal and can’t wait to put it on the pedal board. Grazie!

Thanks Matty... it's true analog circuits with a real tube (12au7), no digital modeling.

Do you ship to canada? What is differn't from this thing then the Boonar echorec pedal? I was going to buy that one, but this looks really nice,
Hi Barney... you can contact Cicognani Engineering from their website or on the FB official page

great sound, whats the fuzz you used for Echoes solo?
Thanks!
I used a custom Fuzz (fuzz face clone) with BC109

Yes it sound good!

Buongiorno Giampaolo, una curiosità: questo Echorec veniva usato da Waters o da Gilmour nel live at Pompeii?
