Hi! I’m so thankful that I found you as I am fighting lupus right now. I read your book already and fully trust you. I’m following your rapid recovery program and am feeling sooo much better only several days in! God bless you!!
Thank you Dr. Goldner for making the science easy to understand! I'm healing from Myasthenia Gravis and a number of other problems with a wfpb diet and I'm constantly told that cocounut oil is somehow magically okay. I will refer those people to your video from now on!
Your correct Dr B, Thai, Srilankans, Malaysians unfortunately used coconut milk and coconut oil as no other alternative in the past. This had contributed to the the highest number of people with high cholesterol and clogged arteries. Vegetable oil the same.
Thank you ever so much for posting. This has helped me a lot. I have been doing my best to avoid all fats but now will work more omega 3 in my WFPB diet by consuming flax & chia seeds & walnuts.
Fats are essential for optimal brain function. EPA and DHA are essential fatty acids, meaning they are needed to be consumed daily. EPA and DHA are naturally found in animal fats. ALA from plant fats can convert into EPA and DHA, but the conversion rate is less than 5%. Obviously animal fats are necessary, just make sure you buy high-quality grass fed organic meats.
Flax and chia seeds cause my stomach to hurt. I tried to cut back to a very small amount and it still hurts. Eating raw veggies also hurts my stomach. I drink all my water . I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. But I’m still gonna keep tryin!
If you go from 0-100 it can be a shock to your gut (especially if you already have gut damage). If you start with cooked and puréed vegetables, it will be easier on your gut and over time you’ll be able to transition to raw if you want to!
Your comment is incorrect. She does not recommended if you're healing from a disease because these can unbalance your omega 3 to omega 6 ratio however they are healthy and beneficial and CAN eat once you have healed and are just doing a maintenance diet.
Thanks so much I thought the coconut oil was good for you . I have crohns deaise and I have pretty tried every thing in the book . I have learned a lot by watching you and Thomas ! So thank ful .

She's correct. Don't fill 10oz glass with coconut oil and drink it daily. Not good. I don't add oil to my smoothies either, but I add a tablespoon to a meal. No harm done.
I would love to know your opinion about eating nut butters and also sesame seed tahini ? How bad are these and should we be consuming them at all ? Thank you I love your video and your knowledge .😀
You can look it up actually. They contain lots of omega 6 fatty acids! So you should have a low intake of tahini, i know, it tasts amazing! But i just try to eat a LOT more flax than tahini, and try to lower the tahini intake from day to day...
Fat is necessary for optimal brain function, that's why vegans come off as being mentally ill. Your brain is over 70% cholesterol, and EPA and DHA are essential fatty acids that are only found in animal fats. Your body can convert ALA from plants into EPA and DHA, but only about 5% converts. So unless you want to eat pounds of flax and chia seeds everyday, you might want to eat some healthy organic grass fed meat and eggs.

My menorrhagia resolved within 3 months of following an oil-free, hyper-nourishing vegan diet including 1/2 cup of freshly ground flaxseed daily! 😃 I was absolutely astounded.
I would think a plant based diet simply can provide the nutrients needed for whatever is lacking, but could also be taken as supplements with a normal diet. Saying that smoothies will work is obviously too vague. What nutrients are we talking about that are needed for what problem with what evidence?
So what do I do if I have high levels of inflammation but I don’t want to lose weight? I’ve already lost 30 to 35 pounds of weight /muscle in about four or five months I wanna get it back but still lower my inflammation. how do I do that?
I always put coconut oil in my smoothies 😬. I am on an AIP diet for celiac disease so I don't do nuts and seeds. Any other options for smoothies? What if I put a few omega 3 pills in my smoothie? Would that be sufficient enough?

Flax seeds will grind up when making your smoothie in the blender if using a blender like a Vitamix. For other cooking, I blend the seeds in my blender and put the flax "meal" in a jar in the refrigerator to keep it from going rancid. Whole flax seeds do not need to be refrigerated.

Ghee is heat treated butter. Oxidized ldl cholesterol (why you should never cook meat at a high temperature) is highly oxidative.

Lol we need healthy fats but there only one fatty plant in the whole world that is healthy... Idk folks maybe we should just forget about fats entirely
There is very little correlation between consuming dietary fats and blood cholesterol. She is simply wrong about "animal fats" and coconut oil. Saturated fats influence the enzymes in a side chain of the Krebs with the effect being to lower ldl cholesterol by decreasing insulin. It also shifts synthesis of acetyl co a away from cholesterol to ketone bodies, used more effieciently as fuel for Kreb's than glucose, fewer free radicals, increased ATP and LESS inflammation, not more.

Melanie Glenn, me too. I think cold pressed organic coconut oil is healthy if not overused. Some doctors say body needs to create cholesterol and recommend it.
The natural products is a good way to start a life. Taking a pure coconut oil that doesn't through lots of purification process means u don't chance the oil chance in it. But of cos anything that we take need to be in a balance portion. Taking Omega 3 also can't be to much it will cause u headache.
She doesn't seem to know the important difference between plant omega-3s (short chain, not active in human health until converted to long chain n-3s in liver cells through an in-efficient enzyme system. why? because we evolved for at least 100k generations as hunter-gatherers and had an abundance of animal n-3s in our diet) and animal omega-3s. We need long chain n-3s in the cell membrane to put the brakes on arachadonic acid synthesis and influence n-6 to become anti-inflammatory conjugated linoleic acid.
She's a moron. The conversion rate from ALA into EPA and DHA is less than 5%, these are essential fatty acids. The brain is primarily composed of cholesterol, so to avoid it is absolutely idiotic.
The conversion enzymes are competitive. It is just amazing to me that anyone can consider themselves a "scientist" and ignore rule #1 in Biology, Natural Selection. Veganism defies rule #1.

She has no clue what she is talking about. It is well documented that alpha lenolenic acid, which is the predominant fat in flax and chia seeds, are mainly used for energy and very little is converted to EPA, while none is converted to DHA. Thus, the notion that fat from these sources become part of our cells is based on thin air. Contrary to what she is pretending to be she is ignorant of nutrition, including fat nutrition.
wow, are you really teaching med student ? Scary. You should really learn more about coconut oil. There are cultures in the pacific rim that lived on this with no cardiovascular disease. Who cares about total cholesterol-- HDL and triglycerides are what matter. Also omega 6 is essential to life, but the ratio of omega 6/omega 3 is critical . it really needs to be around 1:1 . grass fed and finished beef has this ratio.

Poorly done, poor understanding of the importance of where n-6 fatty acids come from and the role they play in human health. We only utilize long chain n-3 fatty acids, they can be synthesized from short chain n-3 fatty acids, but this is inefficient. The best source of long chain n-3 fatty acids comes from free range, grass-fed animals, fowl, eggs, fish, etc. Much of the meat eaten in North America comes from feedlot animal, this puts an abnormally high level of long chain n-6 fatty acid in the cell membrane of feedlot animal as well as very low levels of long chain n-3 fatty acids. Anyone pushing a vegan agenda is ignoring the obvious effects of natural selection on homo sapiens.

This sounded sloppy and unconvincing! Looks like a presentation for 7 yr olds! I have enjoyed Dr G but this? Really?
Nice dialogue but I can't find anything on this "doctors" credentials. I'm guessing she's nor a physician.
You didn't look very hard. I found it in linkedin in 5 seconds.
Linked in is blocked where I am. Thanks for the judgement.
It's not the only place on the web where its listed.
Thanks, David. I bet you're great fun to hang out with.
Hey guys - no worries. There's a lot of scammy stuff out there. Brooke is board certified in psychiatry and neurology. Licensed in the state of California. Got her MD from Temple University School of Medicine, did her residency in psychiatry and was chief resident at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. Hope this clarifies.
And we can't eat fish because there are worms in them? Lol, I never saw a worm in my fish, or meat for that matter, in 50 years and counting... You might want to check that salad for worms though, lol...
Hard to argue with her results.
Terrible
what about hemp seeds ?
Hemp seed has the exact ratio of omega-3 and 6 that our bodies need. Too controversial for most people to even talk about. Said really.
What about hemp seed?
