    She forgot to mention that there is a medal Shank built inside the Tango shoe which runs from the heel to just before the ball of the foot. This to keep the majority of weight to the front of the foot (old style) to project the chest with good posture.

    The Tango shoe needs to have a firm padding at the ball of your foot because a big part of the time you are dancing you will only use the ball of your foot and NOT the heel. You do not use your whole foot most of the time.
