  • We are constantly fed false information about Islam-claims that it is a religion of violence and that its sacred book is meant to inspire terrorists. There is no way to assess these claims unless we have at least some knowledge of the Qur'an.
How do the contents of the Qur'an compare to other sacred books? How has the text inspired difficulties of interpretation by the West and beyond?
Garry Wills is a professor of history emeritus at Northwestern University. He is a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and author.

As a student of theology I just started reading the Quran recently. I'd say it's one of the most amazing books I've ever come across in my life. I truely regret why not reading it before. The most fascinating thing about the book is that it's the same book at least for the last 1430 years. Not a single word has changed while that's not the case with the other religious books like Torah, New Testament, Vedas and Buddhist scriptures etc. It never lets your attention go away from the subject. Keeps repeating the topics again and again to stress and emphasize. No lenghty historical stories. Short and simple. I wish I knew Arabic so I could understand it better.

@@olgaismag4422 peace be upon you brother. Here to answer your questions :
1- Allah says, “I have not created men except that they should serve Me” (Quran, 51:56).
“And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is over all things competent. Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding. Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], “Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire..”(Quran 3: 189-191)
2- "Oh humankind! We created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most honored among you in the sight of Allah is the who is the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)" (49:13).
3- For such is the state of the disbelievers], until, when death comes to one of them, he says, “My Lord, send me back that I might do righteousness in that which I left behind (i.e. in that which I neglected).” No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected. So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another. And those whose scales are heavy [with good deeds] - it is they who are the successful. But those whose scales are light - those are the ones who have lost their souls, [being] in Hell, abiding eternally. The Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles (i.e. their lips having been contracted by scorching until the teeth are exposed). (Quran, 23:99-104)
Keep on reading the Quran and in shaa Allah we will find all the answers. 😘

Let me tell you guys.is a common seance to understand that what a father and mother cannot finish if child take time he or she can finish it.so Quran and Muhammad is like a child to Judaism and Christianity. Why I say that all does books was struggling to complete and Quran came to fulfil.Nicolas tesla was inventor of electricity but he did not finish but we fulfill it.so that is how nature works.so if one way or another someone claim his prophet that speak to allah or god that we dont see that not make sense.

    The Quran says:
"O you, who have believed, remember God with much remembrance. And exalt him morning and afternoon. It is him who confers blessing upon you, and so do His angels that he may bring you out from the darkness into the light. And ever is he, to the believers, Merciful. Their greeting on the Day they meet him will be, "Peace." And he has prepared for them a noble reward.
O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner and to invite to God, by his permission, and as an enlightening luminary. Give good tidings to the believers that they will have from God great bounty. And do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites and leave their harm, and rely upon God. And sufficient is God as Disposer of affairs."

Most of America & west is green but Americans are still crazy about botanical gardens, lush green & backyards full of flowers & trees, & beautiful golf courses. Allah knows all humans or his servants love gardens not just Arabs& that is the reason Allah mentions gardens. Thus the reason cannot be the Arabia has deserts so Allah rewards the believers with gardens.

When the Qur'an talks about the issue of having up to four wives it's not only about having or not having enough to support them financially but it specifically says, and this is a short translation of the verse in Arabic: "ye may also marry two, three, or four but if you fear that you cannot do JUSTICE (between them) then marry only one". Sur Al Nisa (Chapter of Women) The most accurate interpretation of that is: if you can't get all their consent and be just or fair to each of them in love, support, time, and money then do not marry more than one.

The verse of striking a woman was explained by the prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم
He did explain it like He did explain every single verse of the Quran, from cover to cover , I would love to hear him explain the verse because when the prophet companions ask him how we should strike a woman, He answered very Hard as a rule that they should do
1 first should never ever hit or strike her in the face
2 second shouldn't causes any pain and harm
3 third Shouldn't leave a mark on her body.
They were surprised... saying it's like we should not strike them (women)
The prophet comment was "exactly, you should not" that was his beautiful smart a genuine explanation

Alhamdulillah! It's so facinating that non-Muslims like Professor Willis have exerted so much effort to understand the Holy Qur'an and share its real essence to others to clear things up. I love the reactions and the appreciation of the audience, except for one lady who claimed to be a practicing Muslim but is not wearing a hijab. That is so unfortunate because while professor Willis understood the Qur'an, the lady did not. Astagfirullah.
