Thank you so much for this info. I couldn't believe my luck when I typed in the search request to find you had exactly the same set up as I have. I've had the T6 Highline for only 3 days but can now crack on with this particular job. Best regards. ☺
That’s really helpful. I already have all the nextbase kit with a rear camera that I had previously installed on an estate car that I have recently sold. Planning to put it in our T5 camper and thanks to you should be quiet straightforward. Cheers
Thank you for doing this video. I've just nipped to Halfords, bought the same dashcam + fitting kit and installed as per your version. Perfect - Thank you :-)
Thanks mate, I’m waiting delivery on my VW shuttle t6.1 and was hoping It was gonna be easy hardwiring my dashcam. Thanks a lot , this video’s definitely gonna help me out .
Hi. Very honest video. I know us men don’t like admitting to mistakes good on you. I decided to take up VW offer to have a Kenwood DRV-410 dash cam hard wired free fitting. Booked California Ocean in 1 pm all ready to pick up 3pm. Total £200-00 lnc vat. PS Great video 👍
Thanks for your info, here in Australia I don’t have an airbag connection in the same place and I will solder a wire into a fuse and be good to go just waiting on my dashcam to be delivered. Thanks again great info.
Just about to pick up a T6 camper van and want to hard wire a reversing camera, your video has helped a lot thank you. you will be up 100k subs in no time. Ok just looked back and you have one video maybe not 100k subs but helpful non the less
Great info mate ,done my last weekend no problems ,could do with a few more people on RUclips like you who takes the time to put a video on and saves everyone a lot of time and money
I was about to cut the wire that came with my camera and start attacking the ignition wires lol. Now 20 quid later and a trip to halfords. Ace mate. An yeh plastic trim tools are essential lol
Great vid you r right earth wires a pig. If you disconnect your main battery for 5 min then re connect. your dash error light will disappear although it may still be logged by cpu as an error. Inform garage on next service so they ar not looking for a fault that doesn’t exist. Part of service is check and clear faults. No extra charges 😁😁
Just seen your Yorkshire pop vid and he is guilty of plagiarism he watched your vid and regurgitated your info without giving you the credit I will b doing one on a 2009 which has different f box and I will be giving all credit to you on the neg wire as I took mine direct from battery 👍👍👍
Great video, wish I’d seen it yesterday when I started my installation, 🙄. I followed a similar route but managed to run the cable without taking off those trims. Only trouble is, my kit came with a rear camera and now have to run another, and I doubt I can get it in on the same side. I have question if I may. Is your hazard indicator button ( red triangle) illuminated when you get in your motor? Mind does and goes out when I leave. I only noticed it after I done the cable install. Thanks again, I was wondering what was behind that black panel 😂.
Hi. Yep, hazard light swith being illuminated without the ignition on is normal. It should light up when you unlock the doors and then go out when you lock the doors.
Hi, why did you spend £120 on a dash cam when there are loads at a lower price, is your one something I'm missing. Great vid and first posting, exceptionally clear well done you.
Hi, thanks for the video. Is your piggy back fuse holder the Mini type and also, is it rated for the fuse size you have piggy backed from. The fuse holders that I have found are only rated at 10 amps.
Great video - just about to fit a dashcam to my T6 Transporter van which looks to have the same interior parts. One question though - is it possible that pulling the middle blue fuse to fit the piggyback carrier caused the air bag warning to come on or was it deffo because you unplugged it from the side panel switch ? Also, did you find out what that fuse feeds ? cheers
No idea what the fuse I'm piggy backing from does so can't help you there. I did check with the VW guy though about the airbag thing and he confirmed that it was because I had the ignition on without the airbag plugged in! I have had no problems with anything since. Hope that helps.
Ok, got my dashcam, plastic trim tools, hardwire kit and piggyback fuse holder so hopefully get it installed this weekend - the dash end panel/ airbag switch panel looks easy enough to remove but what about the A pillar trim - any tips on removing it ? Best place to start prising ? I hate anything plastic that clips into place as I always seem to end up breaking the tags off ! cheers
Hello mate, yeah the airbag switch cover comes away really easy, just some gentle prizing with the trim tool is all that was needed. The A pillar cover was a little more tougher though, this needed a bit more force but I took it slowly from the top and it came away with a bit of a pull. Just remember to remove the handle from it.
Ok, fitted and working great. I didn't need to remove the A pillar trim - just levered the edge away along the door aperture rubber seal and there was enough room to tuck the cable in - happy days ! Thanks again for posting your vid - undoubtedly saved me a lot of head scratching
THIS IS WHAT RUclips IS /WAS ALL ABOUT. NOT MAKING MONEY AND ADVERTS. community videos!

Thanks, great video. How did you get the cable through the headlining?
Thanks for a great straight forward how to video, I’m just about to do the same job. Ta.
Thank you. Very helpful
Thanks for sharing pal ! I would have remove the airbag switch and done the same without watching ;)
What size are the fuses eg micro or standard so that I can order the correct size piggy back mount.
Cheers
Great vid. Did you have to drop the roof lining down to feed the cable? Or did it just tuck in
Just tucked it in with my fingers.

Great stuff, really pleased the video helped you a little, or at least saved you a couple of quid :-)
good vid, thank you
You wasn't foolish, first time is a lesson, second time is a mistake, third time is crass stupidity.
Hi
A lot of talking and very little info
