Well would you have believed it….. The ball n chain just got me a dash cam & I want it hardwired cos I can’t be doing with wires hanging everywhere. Just visited Halfrauds & as per norm they were about as much use as a chocolate teapot. So back home to consult RUclips and low & behold first vlog on the list is our Col 👍. This must be the only video of yours I’ve not watched. So a massive thank you Colin very informative instruction, easy to follow and appreciate the use of plain English 👍 Cheers bud next step Amazon
Just spent the day fitting the dash cam. Your video was brilliant. Helped us loads. Our van goes in fir conversion tomorrow so we took advantage while it was bare in the back. 5 hours in total to do it but well work the effort. Thanks 😊
Well, what I also would like to know is how to connect the cable behind the panels, starting at the top (next to the mirror) and then go sidewards to the door and then down etc, Where can I go best and how do I dismount all the panels?
You said no one wants to se how you thread the wire ....sadly I do....I would have liked some idea how to get it under my T6.1 Headlining. Maybe not all the routing but some edited versions would be most useful.

Another great video !!! We have just bought our first t6 and have copied so many great ideas from you ! How do you go about finding a constant live ? I have a tracker I want to fit but was thinking a split fuse might be a bit invoice for any successful thief to find! Thanks
Hiya Tom, I think there is a constant live from the 12v charging point (cigarette lighter) - I'm pretty sure though that a thief wouldn't know that the wire was going to a tracker. If they unplugged it does yours have a lengthy battery?
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures yeh I’m not sure I’m not over thinking it .... it would last 24 hours easy so if I or the cops hadn’t found it by then it might be gone for ever anyway !!
Yes, you will find that with most (if not all) vehicles. This will explain it way better than I can www.howacarworks.com/basics/how-car-electrical-systems-work
Hiya bud, as its going to be different for every van I didn't show how I did mine. It literally was fed to the back (wherever possible tucked in) and then out through the rear light cluster and mounted on the bottom of the rear bumper... hope this helps ;)
Hiya mate, any reason you changed your mind on the fuse you piggy backed onto. I'm almost ready to piggy back onto the blue 15amp but rain just stopped play so its a morning job. Wondered if you hd heard something bad about the 15 amp. cheers - great vid!
Thanks buddy... im not 100% sure what the spec is... i just bought the cheapest one (tight yorkshire man 🤣🤣) and now its no longer available from the seller I bought it off sadly!
So you've had this a while. I'm trying to get me father in law to get one on his motor home (beige and box like) have you done a vid on how it works, how well it works and is it worth the money? I seen one on Amazon that's close to the same model at £240 but apparently "we'll just get parking sensors like the skoda's got only £70" he's not even a Yorkshire man!
Hiya ben, haven't done a video on how it works because it's just a generic (most possibly Chinese) camera, I bought the cheapest one I could find 😂! #yorkshireman 😂😂!
Just got a vw 2016 4motion t6 campervan with barn doors & looking for a reversing camera/rear dash cam. What type/make should I be looking to get? Thanks
Hiya mate, ill be honest, I only really know about the one I have. I go in to a little more detail about it in my camper van essentials video (part 2 I think)
How on earth does the clip actually fit?? Mine goes in but not fully. (The bit where the fuse piggyback wire connects to the rest of the wire). Also struggling at the rear of the van now. Trying to wire in reversing camera and got as far as coming out by the tail light.
Hi Peter, sorry for the late response, some comments get lost and I miss them.... The clip should just push in, maybe some brute force is in order... Then a beer :)
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures No worries I'm sure I'll figure it out. Knowing how to get the plastic trim panels off is half the challenge since the clips are hidden. It's knowing where to pull and pry so you don't damage anything. That kit looks interesting. I came across those piggy back fuse things a few weeks back. They're really handy. The electronics side is the one thing I do know. I managed to route the cables neatly on my old ranger pickup but I just had it plugged into a USB charger in the 12v socket so if I forgot to unplug it and didn't use it for a week or so it'd flatten the battery I intended patching it into a 12v switched fuse but never got around to it but I want to do it right first time in my new T6.1
i think trucking vantastic the man who did the orignal deserves a thanks!
Hey buddy, I've never heard of trucking vantastic mate.
Have a great weekend 😊
Only watched to find where the fuse box was, Thanks for the video
Cracking vid. Clear, concise and to the point! Now time to choose which dash cam to go for!

Just fitted my dashcam Yay, that had been relegated to the draw. So easy after watching you do it using the same kit a nice neat job. Cheers Mike

Thank you, been scratching my head on how to find a live. The piggy back fuse is awesome :-)
Brilliant video, I have been searching for information about what fuse to use to wire my dashcam. Thank you very much.
So .... it's middle row that is switched live ..... excellent info .... Cheers!
Thank you, these are very helpful tips !!I like your footage, well done

I'll try show how to thread the wire in one of my future videos bud :)
A really nice video! Many thanks this is very helpful and I will do the same thing with my VW California next week.
Nice video, great help for my install planned for my T6. What dash cam rear view do you have?

I'm a bit surprised, why the neutral should be connected to ground? Should be connected to the negative of the battery, no?
Yes, you will find that with most (if not all) vehicles.

All the same.. All go to the chassis..
How did you wire the rear camera, and where is it placed.

As the air bag is behind panel to fit neutral wire , does it just need screwdriver to gently prise off side panel? 😬😥 thanks
Hiya buddy, yes and no, yes it just pulls off an no use a trim tool otherwise you'll damage your trim :)
Fab video! How did you attach the camera at the back please? Kx
Hiya, i just screwed it to the bottom of the bumper after feeding the wires through to the back (a bit of a pain ill be honest)

What size are the fuses eg micro or standard so that I can order the correct size piggy back mount.
Cheers
They are the smaller ones bud. ;)

Hi, Did you do a vid when you installed your rear camera? I’ve had a quick hunt but couldn’t find.
I didn't mate the channel was really new back then so I didn't upload much content. :(

@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures I realised I’d bought one with a dodgey clip (different brand). So got the one you suggested and it worked fine ✅
Hey! Do you know if this kit can be used to hardwire a tracker in the same way? Soph.
Absolutely, I was thinking of doing the exact same with my tracker too.. ;)
Hi - great vid - regards your Togaurd dash cam - was the std lead to connect the rear camera long enough or did you have to buy a longer one?
Hiya mate, it was totally long enough :)
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures Thanks - was yours 5.5m or 7.5?
7.5 bud :)
Which fuse do I use in 6.1?
Hey buddy, I'm not 100% sure. Sorry I couldn't help

"The hardest bit is the feeding of the wires" yeah that's why I watched this and then you never showed it
