What treasure Gigli was to Opera. Such a beautiful and pure sound..Only Di Stefano came close to Gigli in the post war years to the individuality and velvety texture of his voice. These were unique artists. Thank God we still have recordings of these performances. I am indeed thankful to this channel for sharing this. Very moving.
Beautifully sung..... Gigli, oh Gigli. Age cannot ever remove a perfect performance. The English reserve without any nod or smile of well done from the HMV executives. Pity we couldn't see their response at the end.
Always for me the most attractive voice ever - if by some miracle I was allowed to hear one voice “live” it would be his - and I know the legends I’m consigning to 2nd place when I say that 🤷♂️.
Thank you so much, what I have tried to get is the film of AVE Maria but can't seem to get it and I absolutely love the oldies, I'll just have to keep looking, but I will do as you mentioned, many thanks. If you have any suggestions please let me know. 🙂🎶🎶🎶🎶.
@@Unknownlll123 Good luck - and all the best! 😊 🍀 I‘m glad you received my last comment (well, the one before this reply) because it seems to have vanished now… devoured by the infinite RUclips depths…
Not sung in the Handel manner, but the composer would have died listening to such beautiful singing.. have heard this record for 60 or more years, never dreaming there was a video... Thx 2 British pathe ...
Today’s “Handel manner” has very little to do with any of the pedagogical writing of the time. Even at the very beginning of opera, pedagogues wrote about the importance of strong, clear chest voice and preferring powerful, ringing tones to weak ones. Obviously Grace and agility were also core to the technique in a way that was less true in the late 1800’s-early 1900’s, but that doesn’t mean it has to come at a loss of power, strength, and core, and CLEARLY Gigli is probably the greatest master of singing with this kind of power AND grace. Anyways, I’m glad we agree that it does Handel’s music a great justice to be sung in this way - with power and presence AND grace and delicacy all together in one incredible voice/technique
@@umaratabilgi161 The original is in F. Gigli sings this in G. Most tenors actually transpose this piece up to G anyway, it sits a little better and is a bit more rousing for the high notes.
Recording then was still very much a ‘live’ experience. Gigli is without question the possessor of one of the most beautiful voices in history.
this one is the most emotional for me. his singing is straight to your soul and heart
Concordo plenamente. Gigli é insuperável e a seu favor há todos superlativos de beleza e singeleza sem igual. Essa foi a fase mais linda dele.

What a wonderful recording from an era long past. This never fails to reduce me to tears.
One of the greatest tenors of all time. Perfect!
Il piú fantastico tenore lirico della storia

Fantastic record of one the finest tenors of all time
Amazing performance. Amazing audio and visual (1933). Amazing. Thank you so much for the experience.
Glorious.
Document inédit , voix magnifique et très profond . Technologie d'enregistrement vraiment top pour l'époque . Merci pour ce partage .

Magnificent!
There is technique and there is God given beauty of the voice itself. Gigli had them both, a majestic singer rivalled only by the great Enrico Caruso.
É assim que se canta: voz redonda, dúctil, mastigação facial ampla e pleno Raccolto. O que dizer dos engolados de hoje??? Bravo, Gigli!!
Sensationell dieser Mann, ganz einfach.
He sings like an angel sent to earth
I have only just heard of this singer through utube and his voice is superb. 🤗
You‘ll find a lot of this exceptional singer‘s recordings on RUclips… Go for them and enjoy them! They are worth every minute of your time.

What would you know about the manner of singing in Handel's time?

Beniamino Gigli imortal! Bravo!!!
Agghiacciante, strappa lacrime e sangue!
Incredible ❤
feel like getting down on one knee listening to him open that golden throat.
Divina voz, perfecta técnica.
Wat een stem en dat je dit nog af kunt luisteren ongelofelijk
Greatest in my experience.
Crazy to watch them cut the record to acetate live as it’s happening!
Maravilloso tenor!!!
Despues de Caruso es el mas grande!!!!
WUNDERVOLL¨!!!! GRACIE MILLE GIGLI
voce, tecnica, cuore. Nessuno come lui.
familiar mio
Antonella Gigli e vero??straordinario..
Si e vero, i miei parenti vivono in recanati
@@Antonella768 Cool.
Esta nena Dios mío!
Why isn’t Gigli as famous as Caruso and Pavarotti? Can someone legit explain this to me?
Bellissima canzone originale
insupetable!!hay voces y sentimientos que no podemos definir!!!abz.
Like a songbird Gigli sticks out his chest and tilts back his head.
SUPER
Gigli had a wonderful voice, but he was not a castrato.
Чарующий голос!
His song freezes time.
❤
Sin duda, el sucesor de enrico caruso
I concider Benjamilo Gigli was even better singer than Caruso.
It’s wonderful but wrong pitch
?
It’s probably just not tuned to todays standard of A 440
@@Chris-wm4th no it is too high. The standard wasnt higher it was lower

@@williamlewis4318 it is not about which key he sang in. The voice sounds unnatural
