Dont augment his sound to make it sound not so good just so you can make believe current young singers are sounding better. They do not know anything about this correct way to produce the voice. Not even anywhere close.
Thanks for listening and for your comment Joseph. I'm not sure whether I am not understanding you correctly or if you are being humorous but what you are accusing me of is the opposite to what I am trying to do. I try to improve the sound of the old recordings of the great singers of the past such as Bjorling Caruso, Schipa etc in the hope that the more up-to-date sound will appeal to listeners (particularly younger listeners) and that they will realize that such singers were at least equal to and in many cases vastly superior to the singers of today. If you have a look at the other videos I have uploaded you will see that what I am saying is correct. This particular recording is, of course, of great value to the many fans of Jussi Bjorling but the audio quality is poor and Jussi had been suffering from serious throat problems so his singing is not quite up to his usual standard. I have had a considerable amount of success in what I'm trying to do and the vast majority of comments that I receive seem to appreciate that. Thanks again for listening.
@@michaelmcgrailengland Actually 'equal to' is a Tik Tok comment. You have to give up with the comments improving old records sounds. I have the records and they were purchased first hand while going to see Jussi in person. LIttle thing called my Dad did it and I have them all. Meanwhile back at the ranch my Mom won the singing lessons contest in 1957and strolled over to get them from Giovanni Martinelli. She taught me. So I'm not the Honda driver driving fast and trying to cut off the baby boomers in their Camry's. I get paid to sing. I can see what is going on so I also see on here how even Caruso recordings and Martinelli are suppressed on general searches so that only the hold work horse recordings come up and they are also made to be poor. This gives way to the ability to say things like "equal to" the young singers of today. With Alfredo Krauss, Pavarotti, Marcello Giordano all gone, only one is left: Boccelli. Everyone else is not it. Not even close. LIght years.
@@schipa456 Thank you for your reply Joseph but, to be honest i still don't understand what you are complaining about. But, hey, I'm 81 years old and don't really have time to debate things that I don't understand so I'll just keep restoring the old recordings to give them a better, more acceptable sound in the hope that it will help to preserve the names of the great artists of the past, Luckily I get very few detractors like yourself, the vast majority of listeners seem to appreciate what I do and give me very welcome support. Unfortunately, as with all businesses, RUclips promote things that make them the most money but that, of course, is not in any way connected to me or something that I have any influence over.
Thanks for listening and for your observations Alexandr.
To be fair to Jussi, although it's still nice to hear it, this wasn't his best recording of Ombra mai fu and he had been suffering from throat problems for some time before this concert. (It wasn't my best performance either and I re did the video with better audio quality)(ruclips.net/video/AslqLmS4ePk/видео.html)
My own favourites are the recordings of Caruso and the lovely Kathleen Ferrier who was born in Lancashire in Northern England, not far from where I myself was born.
I did a compilation of recordings of Ombra mai fu that you might like to listen to if you have time.

Corelli AND Wunderlich! What treasures these recordings are
Thanks for listening and for your comment Ed. Actually I'm hoping to upload an Ombra mai fu compilation video tonight with eight tenors including Franco Corelli and Fritz Wunderlich.
I like this. I have just listened to a lot of versions. this is soft, gentle. Like you might feel, under a tree. I particularly like andreas Scholl's version but this is my second best. I dont so much enjoy the more heavy handed tenor or baritones. kathleen Ferrier is good though
Thanks for listening Helen, I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I'm not familiar with Andrea Scholl's recording, I'll have a listen tomorrow. Like you I prefer the lighter tenors but I do love Caruso's recording of this aria. I also agree with you about Kathleen Ferrier, she'a great favourite of mine and was born , like me, in Northern England.
If you wanted to listen to this recording again, I uploaded it recently with better audio quality and I also uploaded a concert that Juusi gave at the Hollywood Bowl in 1949 that starts with a nice version of Ombra mai fu. If you did want to listen the links are below.

Brilliant, he reminds me of Caruso!
Thanks for listening and for your comment Claudius, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I agree, his voice was very much like Caruso's.
And that puts him in his place, one of the best of the rest, but no Caruso

His voice sounds very different - deeper - almost a bit in the barytone area.
Thanks for listening, I hope that you enjoyed the video. I read one account that said that he had been suffering from throat problems for some time before the concert and another that said that he had influenza but went ahead with the concert anyway. @@michaelmcgrailengland yep, very throaty and muted sound. Of course he is the pioneer of modern singing, but was unable to takenit anywhere near the level after 1950
@@Piotr_Szyba Thanks for your reply Piotr. I'm not sure that we are talking about the same person but we are probably better to agree to disagree and leave it at that, it's all a matter of personal opinion anyway. One man's meat is another man's poison as the saying goes.

@@michaelmcgrailengland oh you are welcome ! Thank you for publishing ! I just re-uploaded the lyrics for better understanding, this song has a strong meaning, not just flowers blabla-nature, it is also the nostalgy of a lover who will never see his woman anymore, and he seeks comfort in the shade of trees...my interpretation maybe...

@@bonjourclash5903 It's my pleasure, thanks for following the links.
No, Pavarotti didn't record Ombra mai fu, goodness knows why not, you would have thought it would have suited him perfectly. The other two of the "Three Tenors" Domingo and Carreras did record it.
Le corelli du nord ❤️💐🌹🌹🌹☀️
Thanks for listening Marie-Jeanne, I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
