I lived in the Phillips neighborhood for about a year. It was definitely economically depressed but I didn't mind it. Three simple rules: keep civil, mind your own business and don't be flexing.
Pretty easy to drive through when its below freezing, I worked off west broadway for a few months try going back when its warm
Young Lady what in the hell are you doing? Reporting from the comfort and safety of your secure location is much better than going back to the scenes of the crime. You are not a war correspondent you read statistical data. It's time to do a tactical withdrawal understanding of the gas stations have become a real problem lately anytime lately. You take care let us know when you're out of the war zone. Take care
As you say, the houses don't look that bad. The reason for that is that money is not the issue, MN has some of the highest welfare payments in the country. Behavior is the issue.
Great video. Look forward to the George Floyd follow up. Nice to see that in the commentary you put the word neighbour back in the word neighbourhood. Guess those who don't understand the concept of neighbours, can't use that word, and so they call it the hood.
The only sketchy area of Minneapolis you drove through was W Broadway. Powderhorn is not a ghetto. It's a diverse neighborhood, but not dangerous. Also, you don't sound very familiar with Downtown Minneapolis, since you weren't sure where you were on Hennepin. Hennepin Avenue is the main street that goes through all of Downtown. I was born in Downtown Minneapolis and I used to live on 46th street, and my best friend grew up on 38th and Chicago. Minneapolis is a beautiful city.
a racist mess!
Pan African flags waving proudly, stars and stripes nowhere to be seen.
I'm very grateful for you putting up the school stats from the Newport News, VA story. Really put things in perspective.
It’s definitely the snow, the Sunman hates the cold
I lived on Aldrich near West Broadway in the early 90s it was crime ridden back then. It got way worse when crack hit the neighborhood.
My daughter went to South for a year, 15 years ago and said there was constant violence between American black and Somali kids.
When I was growing up my dad said that snow is the great equalizer. I asked him what that meant -- he said it was because the snow makes everything look clean and tidy.
I am not a fan of the snow and the cold weather time because I do not want to shovel the snow.
Thats my old stomping grounds in the 60's and 70's, what a change, its sad.
Snow isn't going to change the look of an old house that's not maintained.
I live across from Press House it had 300 calls. Then, the Sheriff's office opened a training center and things have improved.
Interesting student teacher ratio stats. The more teachers we throw at a school, the worse the student performance? Well that tactic aint workin so well.
Dont come around when theres no snow....😅
