    I read some people had trouble with the product drying too fast. How long did it take to apply a single coat? And can you save the rest for the second coat?

    • @BryanBuilt
      @BryanBuilt  2 года назад +6

      For sure ! If you let this stuff sit it starts to get thick and hard to work with. It took about 10-15 min per coat and what i do is pour only a small amount in the tray at a time and keep the rest in the container covered and just pour as needed. Probably about 1/8 to 1/4 of the quart at a time . I dnt normally put any back in the can i try to use it all or just let it dry in the tray until the next coat.

    good advice to use the foam brush. I think I'll try the foam roller too. After sanding good, you really think you need to put the cleaning chemical , use the steel wool and the alcohol?

    • @BryanBuilt
      @BryanBuilt  2 года назад +1

      Foam roller is the way to go. I would do it just to be sure the surface is well prepped. Thats the most importatnt part for it to stick

    • @patrickmarr7076
      @patrickmarr7076 Год назад

      probably the reason they caution against using a foam roller is that some solvents will dissolve some types of foam. Unless you know exactly what type of foam the roller/brush is made of you could risk having it disintegrate into a mushy mess, while you're using it.

  • @RyanWolves
    @RyanWolves 5 месяцев назад

    I think I see why they say not to use a foam roller. I used one, just finished the 3rd coat and it's deteriorating and leaving little foam balls every once in a while. I think the paint/lacquer must not work well with foam. Still turned out great and looks like new regardless.

  • @formerlythetim
    @formerlythetim 2 года назад +1

    What do you do if there are sag or drip marks?? Just try to paint them out with the foam brush? For some reason the roller doesn't work out as smooth as it did for you. For me it left a gritty finish. Maybe I dumped too much paint in the pan and it dried on me?

    • @BryanBuilt
      @BryanBuilt  2 года назад +1

      If its dry already i would try and sand the drip marks to get rid of them maybe like 220 or higher grit andthen recleaning before repainting. Same thing for the grit i would do a light sand and clean in between coats to knock any of that grit off

    • @ronaldknedilk3626

      Actually the main reason why they don’t want to use the foam roller is because it can cause bubbles - & that’s the same reason you don’t shake the can ….
      Clear coats - whether oil or latex usually have the same instructions /problems with “AIR BUBBLES” but It’s usually the bigger (9”) foam roller sleeves that give you that problem.

    • @ronaldknedilk3626
      @ronaldknedilk3626 2 года назад +4

      True…. But I was taught (in Union Painting School)
      the funny thing is - low older primers / paints / solvents
      can be more dangerous!!
      because the fact that you don’t know how bad it is when you’re inhaling it !
      So you can be using a little older product and inhaling the same toxic fumes that are just mask so you don’t smell them…. AINT THAT SOME F’D UP SHIT ! 🤨😏
      So You should always be wearing an actual respirator and with the epoxy(s) usually an organic Carthage … and you’ll know if you put a regular respirator cartridge on for latex paint … you’ll be able to smell it right away 😵‍💫
      But the reg dust mask ..or the dust mask with respirator piece is better then nothing if your spraying the paint otherwise… save it for DUST cause it’s Almost just like a placebo effect with fumes 😄
      & Like you said do as I say not as I do because I’m usually send the same thing I’m not going back to Home Depot right now … I’m gonna hold my damn breath and knock it out get out of the bathroom ASAP 🤣👍🏼

    Pro tips: 1. Remove drain piece and overflow cap BEFORE painting. Removing the drain from that 60 year old tub won't be easy. Lots of tools and swearing. 2. Razor scrape the entire tub. 3. Clean with comet and Zep tub cleaner. 4. Have a stiff drink and admit to yourself that this is a job for a pro. Pay the $400 and get a job that will last a decade, not a couple years. This Homax crap will start peeling and get into your plumbing. I charge $100 just to remove it and start over. 5. Why not paint your car while you're at it? Aren't you tired of the old color? You can get the paint at home Depot😂😂

      Thanks for the tips. Of course a pro job is always going to be better but not always an option for everyone. And some people like to try new things. Hit that notification button so you can see when i paint my car 😂🤣. Have a good sunday !

    Don’t waste you money or your time. This crap is hope in can. I do bodywork for a living and tried this. It doesn’t work. It winds up peeling every time and you have a bigger mess on your hands.

      It’s clearly stated on the instructions not to use it on fiberglass tub

    This product is absolutely horrible. The formula is very unstable. You cannot put a second coat with this product.
