Quiet a remarkable documentary about the lives of the almost forgotten Matebeleland people, it’s the hospitality and communal spirit and the rich ethnic socialisation observed here, that keeps the communities going. Love these people.

Would like to tour Zim , so many areas have never been to, you will be surprised how many people never left their province or town, and it's funny most Zimbabweans probably know more about SA or London than they own country
You are right, there also white people in England, who are born in the Shires aka Counties and die of old age, without having visited London even once. 😂😂😂
Thank you for bringing this part of beautiful Zim and these our beautiful brothers to our knowledge. Have learnt a lot. By God's grace I will visit soon
@@Justgloryn In the Midlands you will find us in Shurugwi not exactly sure why Selukwe the original name was changed. however, some are in lower Gweru.
Nonsense because you racist kind shona zimbabwe is nguni place but you guys are so stupid think about Zim is for shona people and original ndebele is from Zimbabweans not this nonsense who is left south Africa nonsense
Great stuff namhla ngifundile. I used to boast that I know that part of Mat South clockwise, from Matobo, through Kezi, Maphisa, San Yet Sen, S'gangatsha, Beula, Seula, Mayobhodo, Kalanyoni, Mpoengs. Importantly, I now know the ethnic composition of the people there. We used to think, it was only Kalanga and Ndebele and were not clear about the Sotho. I am now enriched to know of the baBirwa. So hey, Zimbabwe is a culturally rich country. The cultural diversity is fascinating.
This channel is an impressive repository of Zimbabwean arts and culture. If we had a national film archive, I would strongly recommend that these films be preserved for all eternity there, for the benefit of posterity. The content here is a deep dive into into the often unacknowledged parts of our cultural existence. Thank you for this. I lack the words to full express my gratitude for your efforts. I suppose this is what Stendhal syndrome feels like...
It's so good to know one's history. Unfortunately, some parts of Southern Africa are still learning colonial history and don't even know the similarities amongst many Southern African countries, especially Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique, etc. We are one people. Colonial boundaries separated us from our relatives
In Botswana, they is two dialects of sebirwa. One influenced by the kalanga language/nguni(zulu/ndebele language) and the second one, the original sebirwa.
@@revothomas9343 I meant, they are two dialects in Botswana. Visit bobonong, bobirwa, Botswana, u will find Nguni there with Zulu/ndebele surnames, kalanga people there and babirwa. Their language in Botswana has become two dialects. Those in Zimbabwe don't have those two dialects but one
So Kezi originated from "Kgetsi" It aligns perfectly well, I remember our relatives Mangwato (Mma Ngwato ~ The old man was from Ga Mma Ngwato ~ in a broken tswana known as Mangwato) & Ma Sibelo (Mma Seabelo)~ Their home was near Kezi Primary School. My grandmother of Kalanga origin had relatives namely mothathego " Motlhatlhego" The word "Beula" is derived from the Holy Bible meaning "Beutiful Land - Lefatshe le le ntle" There is high possibility that Beula name is biblical
