    I love the story about Mzilikazi and the Ndebele. I am from a rural village just 70km of Gaborone in South Africa. The village is called Molatedi. There are some of us who are said to be the decedent of a woman who was Mzikalizi's daughter who was among the people who got lost when the Matebele passed in that area. The best would be to get the story from someone as knowledgeable as ubaba Nyathi.

    I loved living in Bulawayo..........Great times, great people of all races. I was a Policeman working in Mabutweni. Who was Lobangulas father. The township names were named after top men in his day., Kumalo, Luveve, Mabutweni, Mpopoma, Mzilijkazi, Luveve, Mugwegwe etc...yes sir I know them all very well. Remember Lobangula and Rhodes were great friends even to the point where his men guarded his grave at Matopas against the Shona who were Lobangulas enemies even then. Thats why years later Gukuruhundi happened because Mugabe wanted revenge against the Ndebele or Matabele people. Thank you for the history lesson sir, you have an amazing mind. Wish we were taught this subject at school instead of battle of Hastings.

      @foxbat473 3 года назад +1

      How can Shona like Ndebele when they took part of our land are you crazy. Mzilikazi was an imperialists just like Cecil Rhodes. Mugabe was not avenging any historical conflict but was just fighting opposition.

    • @Thembi31
      @Thembi31 2 года назад +4

      @@foxbat473 is this the same land the Shonas took from the people they found in Zimbabwe when they migrated there from the Congo? Because we all know that land was already occupied before they arrived. And since when was committing genocide called fighting the opposition? If throwing pregnant women into mine shafts is fighting the opposition then I don’t know. To me that sounds like the act of a coward.

    • @foxbat473
      @foxbat473 2 года назад +1

      @@Thembi31 We were the first ones to arrive in the 5th century we built Great Zimbabwe between 900 -1000 AD and many other across Zimbabwe like Kami and Dlodlo/ Danangombe ruins. We hardly came across Khoisans who were mostly on the West coast of Southern Africa most probably the few we met were assumed into out culture but there is no record. The Zulu nation were a part of our nation when they came from Congo in the 15th centutmry they lived with us at Mapungubwe before moving to KZN area. In 1980 Ushewokunze wanted us to rename Bulawayo to Guruuswa its original name. Gukurahundi is not a Shona thing we never supported it and there were a lot of Shonas who were killed for opposing it

    I wish we learned about Southern history more, if many people actually knew that most of our African people we together, colonialism separated our people too much and our history was lost. If we teach Kids at a Young age especially Kids from South Africa, they won’t have that Xenophobic mindset but now because all we learn about is European History and Half of the History of Africa, we learnt tht Mzilikazi is a Zulu but never knew that they were actually called Ndebele people when Mzilikazi left Zululand to go to Zimbabwe

      @ironore1000 8 месяцев назад

      @@lightlight9861not true, Ndebele people don’t spread their culture or disrespect others, or force/expect people to speak their language and follow their norms like some culture is wont to do, even abroad. Instead, they just want to enjoy and express it without molestation or suppression. That’s all. If you’re well travelled, particularly in countries with significant numbers of Zimbabweans, a common refrain is the distinction between one loud, boisterous and impetuous group and others. Nuff said.

      It's a serious miscarriage of justice to suggest that Bulawayo belongs to Lobengula yet it's his father and many elders who came from KwaZulu eg..Lotshe KaHlabangane (Magalela clans) Chief Mazwi Gumede..Do you suggest that Mzilikazi lived without a Kingdom? That's a big lie from Pathisa Nyathi. This narrative about koBulawayo is just good as to say kuHarare. He's deliberately distorting facts to advance his selfish perspective. It is Mzilikazi who established Bulawayo not Lobengula.

    If the British arrived after the Ndebele nation, historically speaking, the Ndebele people would have been the first "colonialist settlers"? If you are a true historian you have a responsibility to be accurate, factual and unbiased. Otherwise you fall into the category of politician.

    • @Thembi31
      @Thembi31 2 года назад +5

      Maybe you are the one who falls in the category of politician because it’s common knowledge and factual that the Shonas are foreign to Zimbabwe and migrated from the Congo. The only difference is that they came before the Ndebele and the British. When they migrated there there were other tribes living in Zimbabwe like the San people for example. So truly speaking historically the Shonas could have been the first “colonialist settlers”.

    Why do these so called purpoted historians or biographers purposely omit the crucial beginning of everything and pretend like nothing existed before then. The ndebele who were chased by shaka zulu during the mfecane crossed into zimbabwe into this shona inhabited area, decimated the local shona tribes there and formed the ndebele kingdom under Mzlikazi and then lobengula, and thats when Bulawayo emerged.simples

The shona tribe was the tribe that was based North of limpopo and whether that area was scarsely populated with scatted settlements isnt the reason why you suggest the fact that the shonas weren't present.Your pathetic take lines up properly with the Boers in South Africa who echoes the same sentiments that South Africa wasn't inhabited untill they showed up.
